This thread on reddit summerises it all. Id love to hear opinions from other people who have played this so far.

https://www.reddit.c...d_not_worth_it/

I'm not buying this DLC. However, maybe a few people who did can tell us about the banter. Perhaps we can figure out if this DLC is part of the original game and was cut before launch.

well I'm finally home and free to dig around and I'm happy to say for Aussies (and prob any other english speaking DAI owners), GMG is selling the DLC

http://www.greenmang...jaws-hakkon-na/

since I use them quite often I had GMG credits to spare so the DLC cost for me was about 11 AUD,

if you've never used them there's a voucher on the main page which shaves 20% off (I tested it and it let me check out) meaning the cost of the DLC is 12USD (just a little over 15 AUD depending on your payment method probably)

either way money saved is money saved

 Snip

As for why it's more of the same, I think it makes sense if this was cut content. Hopefully they have been working on something else in these past few months that's a bit meatier.

If it is cut content, then I's expect the banter to be revealing one way or another.

The banter I heard in the new dlc was banter allready heard thru previous playthru's.

Why do you care if the dlc has content made before launch? It seems you have made up your mind about it before even playing it so are you honestly just looking for more excuses to hate on Bioware because "screw dlc".

For your information it doesn't feel like they've postponed the dlc until well after release. The dlc doesn't feel like cut content but closer to additional content so it's not highly integral to the story but it's a nice little addition with a good chunk of lore.

You won't find any new types of enemies as in you have the standard Venatori style archers, warriors, mages, Brutes, rogues but they all have something extra to them as in archers can freeze you into place and brutes can use samson's whirlwind attack etc.

Environments look amazing. They have reused assets from one of the main missions in the game but it's done in such a way it's not really noticeable.

Dialogue doesn't seem reused and you get to know a fair more about Harding. They'll even make comments specific to the progress you have made in the game which is a nice touch.

If you want more details, here's a link to a previous post of mine:

I also heard new banter.

What dramatic reveal are we waiting for here?

It is -not- cut content.

Hi KillTheLastRomantic,

As one of the writers on the DLC, I wanted to say Jaws of Hakkon was created entirely after the team finished making Dragon Age: Inquisition. People can like it or not (I hope they do!) but I wanted to clear that misconception.

Thanks,

SylvF

(Also I don't normally post here - I worry about inadvertently derailing discussions - so this will probably be my only post on the matter.)

The bolding is by me, not Sylv F.

People expecting the DLC to be chock full of cutscenes and story elements have to realize that they were likely working on this before the main game was released. It is to be expected that it will play like the main game. Large open area with fetch style quests.

Any changes due to fan feedback, suggestions, critisism, etc will take place in the next full game if at all.

Huh.

It certainly looks pretty, and although the 'explore giant portions of map' style isn't my favorite, I didn't hate it.  The history of the Inquisition interests me, as does the Avvar.

...Having said that, it's still more then I'd like to spend for a DLC I can complete in four-five hours.

Maybe one day it'll go on sale, or I'll be richer.  For now, though, I'll probably just spoil myself on the lore and pass.

(I do have to agree, though.  They couldn't do a major story DLC with this first DLC due to the arrangement with Microsoft that they would make the first DLC their platform exclusive for a bit.  Is this the best DLC ever?  Probably not, but can you imagine if this was the say, track Solas and learn about the Dread Wolf and why he gave the orb to Corphy DLC?  Anyone on a playstation who wanted to discover that for themselves would basically have to totally go off the forums until they get the DLC, because people will drop random spoilers everywhere.  They couldn't do a story DLC about something super major that a lot of people care about for their first DLC; it wouldn't be fair for the playstation crowd.)

It not up there with Lair of the Shadow Broker.

It's not down there with the Golems of Amgarrak.

If you enjoy DAI it's a very nicely done slice of more of the same with some side story on top.

If you have a disposable $15 it's a very easy purchase.

The Eurogamer review brands this forum as being rather unfair about it, and I agree to that.

Most people though seem to make the choice of coming here to ****** and whine about it rather than to move on if they are not happy with the product.

I made a thread about the Eurogamer article because I think it makes some good points.

agreed.

it sums up my feelings about the DLC too.

i don't know how much the devs should worry about the DLC disturbing the game flow ( pre final mission wise ). After all, Citadel sort of feels weird anywhere you play it in ME3. But it's fun and i don't care.

Is bioware going to be releasing the jaws of hakkon for the xbox 360? why was it not released when it came out for xbox one? i'm dying to play it and inquiring minds want to know.

It's a very good question, and I suspect the answer sits with Microsoft who want people to migrate to Xbox One, not to keep playing on Xbox 360.

I really don't think this is down to BioWare, though clearly EA accepted the deal which appears to be on Microsoft's 'standard terms'.

Annoying as these exclusives are, the cash is certainly helpful to studios and can help to 'de-risk' a piece of development that otherwise would not happen or would otherwise be reduced in scope.

I headcanon that happening after my Destroy ending choice. It's like a post-game DLC without being post-game.

15$ ain't much but I am not sure if the dlc is worth it. I'll probably try it some day but for now I'll stick with Pillars of eternity.

Consider that you can get POE for $45 then compare that to $15 for ~5 hours of game for JOH.

Slightly off topic from the original post, but I'm oddly hyped about Pillars of Eternity. I've never played an Infinity type game before(I know, string me up by my toes and beat me with 10lb tunas.....), but something about PoE has just got me on that hype train!
