People shouldn't be defending this or the price sight unseen.  I took the plunge with EA Access, so it was "only" $13.49, and I found even that to not be worth it.

In case you are unaware, this DLC is simply another zone you can go to and I'd say it's of average quality and size compared to the numerous other zones in the game.  It's literally like all the other zones, with camps to get, shards to find, rifts to close...there is nothing new here.  There is no companion based story and the zone's story itself is pretty average compared to all the other zones as I said.

The only "pros" are that it's a super high level zone with high level drops and stuff.  Otherwise it does nothing for the main story or for your companion stories, and most of the zone is the standard fetch quests.

I was expecting a tight story based DLC like most of Bioware's DLCs, but I guess I shouldn't have had that expectation.  Anyway, you all are warned.  If you think $13.49 or $14.99 is worth it for a single zone, of which there are like 12 in the base game already, then go ahead.

That was what i was hoping for. Sadly if that's not there i'll be making the rare decision of not buying a Bioware DLC as the last thing i want is more bad grind and fetch.

Exactly.... no point... so why post it?

Note: I'm not getting the DLC either but I'm sure people don't need to see me all over the place taking shots at EA or Bioware just because I decided not to buy a piece of DLC.

That's up to you, I will however. If you compare pillars of eternity ($45) with this dlc ($15) it's obvious that this dlc is nothing more than a cashgrab, and I for one hate that kind of thing and will speak out about it. But please be my guest, keep buying overpriced content if that makes you happy, I'm sure EA will love you for it.

Do note that while 15$ is truly not much you can get on steam sales some epic games for that sum..

My steam library knows. At least 20% of the games in there I've never even played. Those damn summer and christmas sales :P

Pity, but not surprised. I wonder if this was a zone they didn't get finished in time for the release of the main game? If so, there might be more coming...if this one sells well.

If there's no worthwhile story content, then I'm going to pass on this... I don't really need another area to wander around in fetching random items for random people.

I just said I wasn't buying it... so thank you for taking the 15 second to read my post.

From the descriptions of the achievements I knew this would end up being just another boring world with exploration and fetch quests, but I didn't want to judge ahead of time. Looks like I was right and I'll be skipping this one for sure.

Shame that Bioware still doesn't get it. The number one complaint about this game is huge worlds filled with fetch quests as well as the lack of cutscenes, and yet they did the same mistake in DLC. Not sure what this means for the future of DA since it doesn't look like they are taking complaints into consideration.

I wanted a DLC that would add in depth sidequests to the already existing worlds, I certainly won't pay to get more of what I feel like is wrong with this game.

  A good hat cost well over $100.  $15 is barely two meals at McDonald's.  Look at it this way... Let's be generous and say $15 will get you two tickets to back to back Saturday matinees at the local movie theatre.  So that's three to four hours of entertainment.  So as long as this DLC gives you at least three to four hours of entertainment, you're getting your money's worth, and I'm willing to bet it's going to be longer  than that.  Plus, replay length.  Several Inkys and you're looking at probably 25+ hours, so now we're down to well under $1/hour of  entertainment.  That's a helluva bargain.

I was making a Team Fortress 2 reference.

Whether something is "worth" $15 bucks is highly variable between people.

$15 = about 5 gallons of gas... or a quarter of a tank..

$15 = a meal for 3 people at McDonalds.

$15 = a ticket for 1 person to see a 90 minute movie.

I will easily get this DLC.   I love exploring and more content is always better.    Considering the VAST amount of money I have to send to the government next month and get NOTHING for it in return... $15 bucks is a miniscule amount.    I have bought games on Steam and gifted them to complete strangers that cost more.

The price isn't an issue. I easily have $15 to spare. The issue is the quality of the DLC, and from what I'm hearing it sounds largely tedious and filler, with no real story impact or additional companion content.

I'll wait until more details are shared before I decide, but I'm not really excited to try it at this point.

It's up to the individual to decide if it's overpriced or not.

If they feel they want to experience the DLC right away and they enjoy it then that person will feel they got there money's worth.

If someone doesn't feel that way they will either wait for a sale or just not buy the DLC.

It's all about choice.  Most people though seem to make the choice of coming here to ****** and whine about it rather than to move on if they are not happy with the product.

They "whine" because they care about this series and dislike the route they perceive it to be going. All the complaints I've seen about this DLC appear to be reasoned and legitimate, the only one whining here is you.

All DLC except 'hahahaha, this wasn't really the ending'-DLC is side quest DLC. That, or it's a prelude to the next game (DLC like Arrival)

Besides, it's only $15. Like I said, not even half a night out. And that night is just a one time thing, then your money is gone. This DLC you can play forever if for some reason you'd want to (I doubt it though :P)

It's the same thing with full prized games. People act like $60 for something they can, in theory play indefinetly, is a big deal, but at the same time easily drop $30 or more to wake up with a hangover the next morning.

Money is very personal thing. For some people 15 dollars is food money for whole weekend. For someone else it's one drink in the bar. Perspective ^^

Personally 15 dollars is not something I easily pay for DLC if it's not very good. I think I'd rather use it to Citadel DLC than this one.

I find it hard to make valid criticisms about the DLC without having played it.... with the exception of the price. Admittedly it is a bit steep, though, as a poster above points out, I did pay a similar fee for the last Bioshock Infinite DLC, so perhaps I'm just being a skinflint?

In any case I'll reserve judgement about it until It's actually been released. It's hard to judge it based on a couple of news articles.

.....what?.........

I can go to any page at random in this forum and find 10 good topics of people "whining" but not adding any real criticism.... so you may want to widen your search criteria.

Please also note I am aware that people have very valid issues which is understandable as there is no way to appease everyone.  However even you have to admit that many of the threads feel more like baiting for a reaction rather than honest criticism (I'll even admit to taking the bait on occasion).

It's about choice.  But a lot of people seem to like taking shots at others who made a choice that was different from the one they made and that can get tiresome, due to this I don't even know if developers even bother reading forums anymore since it is too hard to distinguish honest criticism from people just being trolls - that is a big issue right there since it could cause them to make changes that community didn't actually want.

Its basically an endgame zone done in the style that many have already been complaining of.

If you want more of exciting shard collecting and misc mob fighting, go with this. It turns out to actually have cinematic cutscenes (I think) too, unlike your experience in many of the other zones.

So its an adventure. A good one, if you're into what we've had so far with DAI outside of its main quests. A bad to average one, if you're looking for something more.

This is my impression so far. I haven't been playing it. Only watched some of it and read reviews.

I REALLY don't find this worth $15 of mine or up to several hours of my time, actually.

Maybe if it was $10 and had less of a fetch/collection questy look.

Result: I'm in no rush. May get it at some point, but I just don't care otherwise. There's some interesting aspects of it (especially when it comes to my crazzyyy theories), but that still doesn't entice me to get Bioware to TAKE MAH MONEY.

I'm slightly disappointed to learn that it's basically just another world with filler content. I've been looking forward to dlc for so long, and I understand it's the first dlc but I can't help but feel a little let down.

Maybe I'll make the purchase when its cheaper, but I can't justify 15 bucks for filler.

Yeah, I don't want to encourage this sort of thing. If it had at least several more cutscenes and greater roleplaying/choice-making in it, I'd tolerate the zone random questy part. But turns out there's few cutscenes.

As someone mentioned about DAI... it is full of empty content. Seems like this one is a repeat, with some morsels thrown in.

Again, best to wait for reviews on something like this and then make your decision.

If it doesn't sell well that would send a much greater message for those that do not like what they are seeing in this DLC.

$15 dollars is the standard price for a DLC - so in that case, no it's not overpriced.

That said, I think all DLCs are overpriced considering their price tag vs hours played in comparison of the price of a full game.

I personally like to wait till BioWare releases the "special" edition with all the DLC's included. I'm way farther ahead buying the game then, especially if going used.

Unfortunately this hasn't happened since Dragon Age: Origins, which is a shame really as complete Editions are really helpful later on.
