But shouldn't this be what a $15 DLC is? Despite the effort and quality, I don't think it took them 25% of the time, cost, or effort for them to make as the $60 base game. Most DLC seems to offer 2% effort for 25% price tags IMO.

Well, quite a lot fewer people buy DLC, so if they charged the same $/man hour rate they'd make quite a bit less money.

That was the final DLC - and thus story-related content- in the trilogy. I think, in that case, it wasn't a fair comparison. Now, I could see a comparison to LOTSB, which was awesome and cheaper, but not Citadel. But I do agree that a lot of DLC in general tend to be lacking. Replayability is usually the biggest factor when I'm paying for something RPG-related.

EDIT: Since you can return to this area and there are resources you can continue to collect, etc., in addition to the other stuff, I felt it was solid enough to merit the price. I'm ballin' on a budget though so I rarely buy DLC for my games; if I do, I try to get season passes instead to save money.

While the "Content per dollar" might be lacking in this particular DLC, I'm still going to be picking it up. Only because I KNOW I'll be getting my monies worth from this DLC. That right there is also the ONLY reason I'm not mad at myself about picking up the deluxe edition, $70 for over 230 hours of gameplay so far, with no end in sight? That's worth it to me. Same goes for this DLC, I'll get into the zone, do everything, and then do it again on subsequent play throughs, eventually getting my monies worth out of it.

Money grab-ish?? Yeah, I can see that. But I'll just gobble it up for now cause I know it's worth it for me.

Wow. So it is basically the very thing I was hoping for it not to be.

I might not even buy it at the discounted rate.

Seriously, **** this Skyrim/exploration nonsense. 'Losing my patience with the Biower DA team.

That's just a careless thing to say.

I can recite 80% of both the ME and DA codices, and I still have a busy social life. Also work life. So let's just say you're still young and/ or in college and/or simply don't like to spend a lot of money - which is fine and just!

However, trying to spin this into Psycho insulting "true gamer culture" because he probably works for a living is just a low blow. If I wanna spend 5€ on a weapon skin, I will. And I can, because I don't go clubbing and binge on designer drugs to make listening to silly techno music for 500 bucks every Saturday palatable, so it's rather the same reason I spend money on the useless things I care about.

At some point in every average Joe or Josephine's life, 15$ will not be an issue. Morally maybe, but not financially. We are not entitled snobs waving our fortune in your face, we're merely proud & just-as-nerdy gamers, except we'll look shitty sooner rather than later.

Amen to this. I don't go out much, just really occasionally maybe one a month, not even that. I don't smoke. I don't do drugs (doh!). So if I want to spend 15$ for a DLC I am free to do that. It's one of my "hobbies".

So yeah, to PC gamers at least, $15 can get you three to four great games on Steam and there are more than enough sales during the year to take advantage of that sort of thing.

True, but what if I don't like any of the games Steam sales has to offer? Let's say, you buy 3 games you like, for 15$, and have a lot of fun. I buy the DLC, for 15$, and have a lot of fun. Same thing. I like the Dragon Age universe and it's one of the few games I really get interested in, so while you spend.. dunno.. hundreds to play all games possible that Steam has to offer (and people nowadays have their steam filled with hundreds of games).. others might be different from you, and only buy and follow what they really like. So as long as those 15$ give happiness, it won't matter if you bought 3 games or 1 DLC with them.

Atleast I'm speaking for myself.. but yeah.
Where I live, a dish at a restaurant that costed probably 2 euro to make, is sold for 15-18.. Cinema tickets are 10-12.. So no, 15 isn't much to me in comparison if it's something I really care about.

But to each their own..! If you feel like your 15$ have a better use elsewhere, by all means nobody is forcing you to buy this DLC, if you think it's just gonna be boring and generally hate DAI mechanics.. To me, the exploration part in DAI was quite good, the areas were gorgeous and the "side quests" (which btw, ever other DA game had) were a nice break from the main plot. So.. different opinions.

Well I kinda liked that tho. Granted it wasn't a side quest.

I'd name real examples but they were far too forgetful lol.

A lot of players may disagree with me, but my default position is always to give BioWare the benefit of the doubt.  No other developer's games move me like Dragon Age & Mass Effect.  Any chance to immerse myself more in those universes, learn more about the lore & just experience the atmosphere is more than worth an extra $15 to me.  I'm excited to feast my eyes on the setting and artwork, enjoy the excellent voice acting & explore an intriguing culture & location in Thedas.

This thread is like blue vitriol.  It's full of vitriol but if you melt it down there might be something useful.

Bioware has had this forum for a long time.  I hope they've gotten good at mining feedback from the childlike rage.

As much as I love the game (one of my favourite games in over twenty years of playing), I'm not buying this.

Hope other people enjoy it, but I just don't see the point in dlc that takes place before the ending. I already know how the story ends.

I find it kind of entertaining that people complain about the price and say "the base game cost me only $x for 100+ hours, so the DLC is too expensive if it's $15 for 5 hours" instead of realising that the base game was incredible value for money when just comparing hours/$.

I'm not saying that $15 for a piece of DLC is justified or that it is too much, everybody has to decide that for themselves (I'm still debating and waiting for official reviews) but yeah.... amusing.

This DLC is asking for 1/2 as much as I payed for DA2 Signature Edition on release, if you want another point of comparison.

Worth is subjective. Would I find worth in this for $15? Yes.

Is EA over pricing DLC and milking it's customers because they know we will buy it? Yes.

Two different things. I'm happy for more content. Is $15 a lot of money or a hard ship for me? No, but it is for some people. Would they have made just as much if not more if they charged $5 or $10 for it? Probably, while having a larger percent of the fan base actually purchase it.

You are missing the point.

previous DLCS were 5-10$ and 15$ ones were pretty big with loads of interesting content.

Leviathan for ME3, imho, was priceless as it influenced the overall plot and ending of the game while showing some epic gameplay.

This is just (from what I read) 15$ I'll spend on DLC just to play the same thing: open area, closing rifts, find shards, fetch quests, dragon, 1 main area quest.

From what I read on reddit it seems the entire area was cleared in 5-6 hours.

With all the love I have for Dragon Age and the fun I had playing this game I really disliked the open area MMO style it showed. So paying  25% of the price I paid for the full game for me at least does not cut it.

Instead I'll wait for some steam sale or something and get myself fully AAA game in same price or less.

Do note I also hate to purchase any game on Origin store due to the fact DLCs are NEVER on sale and always on full price while I can get on steam the full game and DLCs with a major discount.

Few weeks ago you could get loads of eidos games with all of their expansion in like 10 $....

why then I'll pay 15$ for 5 hours of bloody MMO style fetch quests?

the result of that mining for feedback is Dragon Age Inquisition.

So I'm just going to copy + paste what I said in another thread over here:

"I played it last night as soon as I got home and really enjoyed the DLC. I don't know if it was worth $15, but coming from EA I'm not sure why the price tag would be a surprise. The area is absolutely gorgeous and I found the Avaar really interesting, plus the new loot/crafting materials are pretty wicked. I also enjoyed that PARTY BANTER ACTUALLY WORKS in the DLC area, so I finally got to hear a ton of banter from my normally mute party.

I will be honest though and say that if you don't enjoy the aspect of Inquisition that involves exploring new areas and doing quests "just because", then this DLC is probably not for you"

I would really like it if people stopped acting like $15 is a fortune.

Geez, that's not even half a night out.

god you have cheap nights out lol I'm lucky if I have any change left from £200 :(
