I have no problem dealing with fetch quests, the bad tactical camera,  or any other flaws or problems that Inquisition has, but even with them I still like this game, I enjoyed it a lot, its nowhere near as good as Origins, but it is a good game anyway.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but here I go: There is one problem that haunts me, and if someone knows a mod that removes it, please tell me: excessive graphical effects in combat. really, its stupid. Why do you need to create a huge magical shield in front of you when you use "Charging Bull"? And the some things happens with "Payback Strike", you swing your weapon leaving a trail of fire behind, I'm not even going to talk about the mage's abilities. In Origins we at least could remove some of the effects with a mod, how I miss the combat in that game, it was simple and people fought like normal human beings (everyone fights like a ninja now), even though I hated how slow paced it was.

Sorry for my broken english!

Personally, I skip the ones I do not like; no throwing chains or earthquakes in my games. And to help minimize the distractions, I recommend setting Effects Quality to Low; reduces the shine and density of ability FX, boosts FPS, and also appears more natural, IMO.

Yeah the way some abilities are represented in combat don't really do it for me, so I avoid them. When I got beardy's Champion spec maxed, I immediately used the tactician's renewal, because I just did not like the ghostly soldiers holding the line. The charging bull ability is another, but the visual effect is not nearly as annoying as how often it doesn't really yield good results, and just has the companion charge far away from the fighting.

You know you could of just disabled hold the line instead of respecing him?  Also didn't patch 5 say it fixed most of the problems with charging bull?

I understand the point you make, though I can live with it.

Some games have even more giant swords, so the style is by no means unusual.

I get what your saying, and I respect it. Some people really just can't get immersed with that sort of stuff, and that's fine.

Personally, it has never bothered me. It's a game. I expect 'gamey' elements like that. I think that most of the time it looks cool. I enjoy watching my character doing crazy back-flips, or making huge craters just by slamming their sword down.

I agree. Usually, I do not mind the special effects, I kinda shut them off mentally so to speak. But it's one of the few games they are overwhelming enough that I wish there was a slider to diminish them somewhere.

Michael Bay would disagrees and claims:

There is no such thing as "excessive effects"! You can never go wrong with flashy effects no matter where you apply it! Nothing else matters! The box office of Transformers proves that most humans are dumb like that suckas!!!

DAI could have sold 5 million more copies if they had more explosive spells! Charging Bull should have caused an explosion upon impact! There should be explosion when using payback strike!   :wizard:

I respeced him because if I'm going to disable something, I'd might as well just invest the points somewhere else. I bought a few of those tactician's renewals so I could play around with the abilities anyway. I wasn't aware of the fix in patch 5, since I had avoided charging bull since my first playthrough.

I strongly suspect we'll get a mod that disables all or most of these OOT effects before the year is out. I'm running both Origins and DA:2 with a whole suite of mods that remove weapon enchant effects, poison effects,  rock armor effects, auras, sound effects from Rally, Air of Insolence etc. as I find all of them very distracting - some of them are just plain ugly in my opinion. (DA:2 Rock Armor, I'm looking at you!).

Some of Inquisition's effects are equally distracting, but clearly we're not the only ones who feel that way. I suspect modders will be hard at work before long. We've already got mods available that will remove party weapon and armor restrictions. and I think it's only a matter of time before we get things to tone down effects.

I don't find them nearly as irritating as in DA2. This level of visual effects is fine with me.
