Hi there, PC user here.

So I´ve just installed the new DLC and I was trying some of my savegames after 2 months of not playing and I´ve had 3 crashes to desktop in a row, approximately 10 minutes after starting the game. I get a DirectX error. I´ve never had a CTD in DAI before.

I´ll update with more info when I can.

I am having the slowest loading combined with just freezes off and on.  It's been about 10 minutes and still not to skyhold (used to be <1min).  Unfortunately I didn't play between patch 6 and Jaws so I can't tell if it was one or the other.   Rookie mistake.

Well, happened again. I get the following error message:

DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application´s device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that shoud be investigated and fixed"). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780", Driver: 34788

Set post-processing to Low; as a last resort play in borderless windowed mode. Those have helped others in the past.

You can also try reverting your drivers to the last 344 release (the 345 security update last month seems to work fine as well).

I was getting a lot of hangs at the war table and rarely in cutscenes, which could only be solved by lowering post-process quality to medium. Going back to the 344 drivers from November seems to have mostly resolved the issue, though performance did diminish slightly (but I still prefer it over needing to constantly mess with the graphics options).

I am plagued by this DX error crash as well. I can no longer get past cutscenes or the war table without the game crashing with that error message. I've never owned a more unstable game in over 25 years of gaming.

I can confirm I am now having this problem as well. I'm going to try using the repair game function to see if that helps.

At first it crashed when I tried to start talking to Solas in Haven. I then switched to Borderless-Windowed mode, and managed to get to the cutscene that pans down to the war-table, but it froze and then crash.

I'll be keeping tabs to see if a fix pops up.

Never saw this error until I purchased Jaws of Hakkon. Now I'm crashing with this very error, but only at the war table.

They didn't fix the DirectX crashes by cutscenes yet? The game is four month old by now?

I'm having the same problem, but I don't get an error message. After I load a save I'm not even able to make a move before the game crashes to the desktop. Repairing the game twice hasn't worked for me.

Just to give an update, I used the repair game function, switched to borderless-windowed mode and everything seems to be working.

Tried that yesterday Call Me Jord, didn´t work for me.

Good luck though.

DirectX crashes been around since release and it seems that patching the game trigger them for different setups. Had them since release and haven't been able to play the game since launch whitout crashing every 5 minutes or something. You think that something this gamebreaking is a priority but instead they fix exploitation and get a DLC going. Where more than a third of a year in and there is already patch 6 out. Though I have to say I am willing to try out stuff but I don't go and tinker with my absolutly working hardware for one single game. I'd rather have this fixed from the Devs side.

I had this problem in every cutscene with the latest nvidia drivers. Tried different things but the only thing that worked for me was rolling back the drivers. Also playing with a GTX 780.

Can you expand on the type of gear you are playing the game?

Nvidia came out with a new driver about 3-4 weeks ago.

A beta tester mentioned that the memory demands from the game has gone up!

Thanks, can I get specifics? Or a link to what that tester had to say?

I haven't bought the DLC yet, but the game is now crashing at the startup. I've had it. I've got more important things to do than fix a game I've played already. I'll wait until I've replaced my graphics card and they've made enough patches to fix this crashing problem. It'll be gone from my desktop before Easter holiday.

I ended up deleting my profile files in the save game folder.  This let me start the game without crashing, and then I was able to just fix my graphical settings etc again.  A tad annoying but it fixed my crashing.

This started for me after Patch 6.  I don't have the DLC, but I've never experienced crashing to the desktop with Inquisition until now.  I got the game the day it came out and it's always run perfectly.  Now I can barely get through cutscenes without a crash to desktop... :(

Well, happened again. I get the following error message:

This error used to happen before and it was related to Origin overlay provoking a dead lock with the driver or something like that, disabling it should fix the issue. To do so right click on the game in Origin and click in "game properties" and there check the box "disable origin overlay" (or something like that).

Also I've experience several crashes and glitches after installing JoH and the new version of Origin. The first problem was after saving a game with JoH, I loaded it and I started to see odd polygons everywhere, but only with savegames after JoH started. Fortunately I managed to fix it just by restarting the PC. The second problem was after installing the new Origin update, DAI crashed everytime I try to start it, then again fixed it by restarting the PC.

Hope that helps.

Do you think if I uninstall the latest driver I won't get the cutscene crash???

I remember disabling the overlay on DAI some time ago led to a marked increase of performance. I see the check has unmarked itself, perhaps through a DAI or Origin update. I´ll reactivate the check and try again, although I can´t run tests soon.
