Microsoft just hates the fact that they don't have that many interesting exclusive titles/franchies to sell their new console.

If good exclusives were really selling hardware, Wii U would be top-selling console this generation...

PS4 excluseive content:

Arkham: Free challenge maps, story missons, characters (never released for xbox)

Destiny: Free misson, new weapons, and vehicles (timed for a year)

Watchdogs: Weapons, missons, alt clothing (never released for xbox)

NBA2K: New courts and players (timed and exclusive)

So as shown the PS4 has a ton of exclusive and major timed content. The x1 on the other hand only had their unique stuff for a month (Battlefield, Call of Duty). x1 are actually on the bad end of the stick most of the time. Biwoare also said that the dlc is comign to ps4, just at a later date. Dont worry, youll get it eventually :)

Ok you are right. It's EA doing this.
EA owns BW

The transitive property would tell you that if EA is doing this and EA is owning BW then also BW is doing this. It seems you are missing basic logic.

That's like blaming the US Army for the invasion of Iraq. They did it, but they didn't make the decision to do it.

Still doesn't make the practice okay.  I actually find exclusivity, timed or otherwise, worse than Day One DLC.

I do agree it is a bad practice.

I do foresee nothing happening in the end to stop it. The money involved is probably too good at this point to not make a deal.

I don't think Bioware hate PS4 players; I don't even think they had much say in this happening at all.

That being said, as someone who is a bit of a 'lightweight' gamer (outside of Bioware games!) timed exclusives is such a weird concept to me.  Like a company is putting out a product that they want to make money on and then telling me that I cannot spend money on it.  Or Microsoft, I guess, effectively bought out my ability to be able to purchase something.  I could wait however long I have to wait (and why aren't they being transparent about when it's available to PS4 anyway?  Is that part of the deal?) and THEN buy it, but I'll be real, I'm pretty much an impulse buyer and will probably forget I wanted to get this by the time it comes out--or not care anymore, after watching the Let's Plays again.

Just a weird concept.  And I get it's business, but it IS a little difficult to not have a bit of a knee-jerk annoyed/defensive reaction to it, and it certainly isn't endearing me to want to switch consoles or platforms, more just making me understand (finally) why gaming communities are so gun-shy about DLC.

Microsoft's offer was probably high enough to run the risk of selling a lot less units on PS4. If that will even happen. I highly doubt people will change consoles over timed DLC exclusives.

Now if we were talking a year long exclusive of the base game, that might change people's minds. (not mine, I play on pc :P) Honestly, I think Microsoft is just throwing away it's money here.

Blame Microsoft. They offered EA enough money to make it worth their while to release the DLC later on PS4.

I legitimately don't have a problem with Day One DLC. I know I'm in the minority but I really don't. But timed exclusives annoy me.

No, I agree with you.  I mean, if I don't have enough money for the Day One, then technically it becomes a timed exclusive until I do (haha :) ), but at least the option is there for me to either impulse buy immediately or pick up after I've scoured some reviews.

eh i'm in the same boat but not big of a deal dude. I agree with you on the principle that it's a bad business practice but that because Microsoft want you to buy their console. The best way to tell them they are wrong is just wait for the DLC and get it on PS4 and play it there as nothing happened. MS is just wasting money their marketing won't be telling me where I'm going to play my games.

Because people mention Destiny as an example of Sony having timed exclusive DLCs over Xbone. People though seems to forget not everyone play that game. Me included.

but this is a BioWare forum destiny is irrelevant here. If i wanted to moan about that I would go on the destiny forum ?

Exactly how stupid is that ? Its coming out on ps4 but Microsoft have told us we can't talk about it. How lame is that ? Microsoft are like a cancer on gaming if you ask me. Oh well bloodborne it is

It happened with Skyrim too. The DLC hit Xbox like 3 months before all other platforms. It's shitty, but it's also not news. It was also announced last summer that DLC would be timed exclusive to the Xbox. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that PC players are getting it too.

It's about timed exclusives, so it's germane to the subject under discussion. And in that situation, it's the PS4 players who are coming out on top over the Xbox players - by a year, according to a previous poster, so that's far more egregious than what's happening here.

To be fair though, we don't yet know when PS4'ers will get the DLC, so...

I think that might bother me personally more than the actual timed release--Just not knowing when, haha.  If it's a month, I can slow down my play-through.  If it's three-six months, well, if I don't forget by then, I don't know if I'll have it in me to start a new play through just for one new area.  If it's a year out, forget that, and as a casual gamer, that really puts me off of getting into gaming as a hobby.  I'm that person that has to marathon a whole show on Netflix in one day, ya know!  Instant gratification is more my wheel house :)

I loved this game and been waiting for some dlc why oh earth is this not coming out for ps4? If it is coming when? Ive been a bioware fan for years but because I bought a ps4 I have to wait ? Bullshit I'm done now I will move over to bloodborne instead
Extremely disappointed thanks bioware :(

Wiping our tears away with Bloodborne more than makes up for being a PS4 owner right now.

Timed exclusives are a pain and something I really don't see the point of (I was on the fence over which console I would pick and this sort of thing played no part in swaying my opinion). But I will say that we at least had plenty of warning. They announced at E3 last year that Xbox would get exclusive DLC. So naturally the pitchforks came a-running onto the forum about what kind of exclusive DLC everyone else would be getting screwed out of, which was when we were told that it was timed and not a full exclusive. So here it finally is, that timed exclusive. Unfortunately part of the timed contract means they can't tell us when we will get it, which is annoying.

If we're lucky, it'll be a month. If we're unlucky, it'll be by the time the next DLC gets released and we won't care anymore. A bit like the whole Skyrim fiasco on PS3 where it took about a year or something. Although I at least got them all for half price because of it.

Just count your blessings that it doesn't seem like we're missing much. They chucked this DLC out with no fanfare and almost no advance warning. It seems decent, but nothing that really adds anything ground breaking to the story that would totally suck to be spoiled about before we could play it. If this was post-game DLC about Solas I would be combusting into a fireball of rage and raining down upon the earth. But instead I'm more 'meh' about it all. Disappointing, yes, but really not worth flipping tables over.

I'm wiping mine away with the Borderlands Handsome Collection. ;)

Granted, it's not an exclusive, but I'm just happy to be able to visit Pandora with my PS4. I'm planning to joy puke my face off, as soon as I get home from work.

I bought WiiU specifically because of Bayonetta 2. I have to agree with you - there isn't much people who could do the same. Feels kinda sad.

Hmm, do Bioware developers truly hate PS4 owners?

Well with the aid of this empty glass, renting the apartment next to the studio and thin walls, perhaps we can find out....

Bioware human 1: Grrrrrrr PS4 owners hate them I hate them HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE!!!!!

Bioware human 2: ArrrrrawwwwrrRRRRR PS4 owners are evil grrrrrrrrrraaawwRRR

Bioware human 3: Thow them in a ditch! Hurt them!

Bioware human 1: Tell them that a puppy died, and it was their fault

Bioware human 3: There are no words to express how much I hate PS4 owners!!!!

Bioware human 2: Grraaaaaawwwwwwwwww gaaargle gaaaargly graaaaaaa!

Bioware human 3: ME SMASH PS4 PEOPLE ME SMASH GOOD, ME SMASH ALL!

...At this point the audible dialogue degrades into a cacophanous series of loud grunts, roars, and bird-like hooting, accompanied with the sound of heavy objects colliding with the walls and ceiling.

So, there you have it. It seems they totally do.

Sorry pal.

The DLC will come on PS4 too. Later, but it will. And this will happen only for the first story-driven DLC, IIRC. There's no reason to whine, that's how videogaming and software houses work today.

Remember Skyrim? all PS3 DLCs came out way after they were out on XBOX360.

Actually, on that, PCs weren't day one DLC either

This is honestly the main reason I'm bummed right now.

I don't necessarily blame Bioware or anyone else. Truthfully, I'm not feeling like a particularly valued customer by anyone right now because I found out I couldn't get the DLC today by attempting to throw money at it and being unable to, which is disappointing. But whatever, it's a business, they have their agreements and any individual customer's immediate satisfaction isn't a big deal in the larger scheme of things.

It's just annoying not to have any time frame for when I might be able to buy this. Two months? Six? A year? Maybe even never? I'm sure there's some sort of contractual reason but that's the main thing that's taking me from disappointed to feeling completely forgotten about as a customer. :(
