So, while I was initially rather pi**ed at this timed DLC. (Obviously a PS4 owner here)
But after I had a coffee and a sit down, it got me thinking...
Anyone else notice that this DLC has pretty much zero promotion? We had a total of one days notice before it dropped.
Isn't that a little odd for a very popular games first story based add on?
Usually (even if it is timed) we get a least a month's notice and a hell of a fanfare to get people stoked to buy it.
Now if it's true that EA made a deal with Microsoft that X-Box would get dibs on the first story DLC with timed release for PS4, Doesn't it seem more likely that Bioware is sneaking this DLC out to fulfil the contract with Microsoft ASAP and get back to releasing DLC for all again.
To me it seems more like they are getting this bulls*it out the way as soon as possible, than snubbing part of their fanbase.
Either way, I'm really happy for PC users getting first dibs for a change lol

It's not just PS4 owners being denied the DLC. Xbox 360 and PS3 users aren't getting it either.

The OP is such an ignorant Sony pony. Everyone says it was Sonys fault for passing EA access but being the dumb sony pony he deflects & continues to blame Microsoft/EA. It just goes to show that you can never get through to fanboys. *sigh*

This is how gaming business become this day, stop acting like it's all MS idea, Sony got fair share of these kind of deals too.
And perhaps you guys should realize that Bioware and EA are not a charity organization. They are company that went after money like the rest.

I'm not flipping tables I'm just a big bioware fan and feel all fans should get treated the same whatever platform they choose. Sony and Microsoft making there own exclusive games is fine its good for the industry.Wiping our tears away with Bloodborne more than makes up for being a PS4 owner right now.
Timed exclusives are a pain and something I really don't see the point of (I was on the fence over which console I would pick and this sort of thing played no part in swaying my opinion). But I will say that we at least had plenty of warning. They announced at E3 last year that Xbox would get exclusive DLC. So naturally the pitchforks came a-running onto the forum about what kind of exclusive DLC everyone else would be getting screwed out of, which was when we were told that it was timed and not a full exclusive. So here it finally is, that timed exclusive. Unfortunately part of the timed contract means they can't tell us when we will get it, which is annoying.
If we're lucky, it'll be a month. If we're unlucky, it'll be by the time the next DLC gets released and we won't care anymore. A bit like the whole Skyrim fiasco on PS3 where it took about a year or something. Although I at least got them all for half price because of it.
Just count your blessings that it doesn't seem like we're missing much. They chucked this DLC out with no fanfare and almost no advance warning. It seems decent, but nothing that really adds anything ground breaking to the story that would totally suck to be spoiled about before we could play it. If this was post-game DLC about Solas I would be combusting into a fireball of rage and raining down upon the earth. But instead I'm more 'meh' about it all. Disappointing, yes, but really not worth flipping tables over.
But this timed dlc bullcrap needs to stop from both Microsoft and Sony

Sony don't hide the date when its available on other platforms though. Microsoft do some shady stuff ImoHow about you guys stop turning this forum in to a fanboy fest like n4g? I believe it is toxic enough, we don't need more console war here to make it worst.

I literally had my credit card out to give Bioware money today when I found out I couldn't, just for the record. It's actually pretty much the exact opposite of wishing it would be a charity. ![]()

Exclusivity suxs for players on both sides. It's the game company suits taking turns punching players in the face. But as someone pointed out, this DLC is probably not worth getting anyway. It's just another sideshow.

The DLC will come on PS4 too. Later, but it will. And this will happen only for the first story-driven DLC, IIRC. There's no reason to whine, that's how videogaming and software houses work today.
So wait. We, as consumers, SHOULDN'T be upset about timed exclusivity? Or exclusivity in general? Regardless of which platform gets which exclusives? We should shut the **** up and take it?
Frankly, as someone who plays on 360, I think I have every right to be irritated. Given that Microsoft negotiated exclusivity for this DLC, and then ignored the 360 completely. And the part that REALLY gets me is that there's no release date for when I will finally be able to pay my $15 to get it. What this tells me is that EA doesn't give a **** about my money, and thus I should just stop giving it to them.

Because denying 3/5 of your playerbase the ability to pay you their money is smart decision making.

They haven't been denied, they have been delayed. You think people who wanted this DLC are not gonna buy it if it comes 3 months later?
In the end, EA came out ahead, they made money over an exclusive deal with MS and their DLC sales are still gonna be more or less the same. So, smart decision making even though a tad bit unscrupulous.

It's not that BioWare hates you.
They just love money more.
which raises the question, is upsetting customers a viable long term strategy?
I know companies like Gearbox have been offered exclusivity contracts and knocked them back because the feel it goes against there player base so they don't believe in it.

Better for you to complain to Sony because PS4 has timed exclusives as well, which means they spent their money elsewhere to get those exclusive.
Both Microsoft and Sony are paying for timed exclusives and exclusives, so your real problem would be with their choice of exclusives and thus it is only logical to complain to the party that you gave your money to and ask them to spend the money you gave them to get the exclusives (timed or not) you want.

I think the most angry should be the Xbox360 players. (and I speak as a PS4 player) since they are forgotten by Microsoft itself, and they are its costumers.
Surely, it would be more honest to at least give a date for those who don't play on PC or Xbone, sinche they are costumers just as them. But from what I'm hearing, the DLC is nothing really special.
That's me. Someday I'll probably get a PS4 but not till there is more than one game I'm interested in. So I sit waiting to see when patches, dlc and other things of interest will come my way.

I'm in this camp. Also 500gb is NOT enough memory IMO. I want at least a TB HD and thats from the factory when I buy it I want that not a aftermarket upgrade. The main thing is games, but still....I'm sick to death of trying to squeeze every single bit of HD space I have after owning it for only a few years.

so its all sonys fault? That's amazing logic you have there mate. You wouldn't happen to be a xbox fan? Lol what about your fellow 360 owners microsoft forgot about them?

Timed exclusives on both sides is bad both sony and Microsoft do it.
But at the end of the day ea choose to take the money. Plenty of games have come out with no timed exclusive content for one platform over the other. Gta5 is a great example both side get the same stuff. Anyway its a lost sale form me when it does come to ps4 I would of moved on by then. Not Long to the witcher 3 which thank god hasn't got any exclusive dlc for Sony or Microsoft. Cd red have respect for their consumers
