Women did get more options if you're the type to only play your same sex, so I don't mind people saying they want more options. I personally like DA2's approach but I can see where some did not.
More romanceable female characters

Hmm... In the context of being what's best for players, it is best. I just think it needs to be carefully done and not feel forced on the character or shoehorned in, I guess. That make sense? I still maintain there's a satisfaction in the crushing heartbreak of being sapphicly rejected by Cassandra, though.

Morrigan I got over. Leliana is Bae.

thats how it works, I don't like those options so there is no option for me. How else it suppose to work? If you told let's say unemployed woman that she has an option to go work like a companion, do you think most of them would even consider it as an option? (provided that it would be in state where it is legal)
It's an unfortunate reality and it's the way things go with every game. I guarantee that every game has fans that feel there's no romance option for them. It sucks when it happens, but I suspect over the course of future games you'll find ones that work for you. Unfortunately it's unlikely that the romance situation changes with DAI.

Ummm, asking for additional romance options is begging to be pandered to? Okayyyyy
Yes, it is. Every time any of us ask for anything to happen in the game we're asking to be indulged, gratified, or catered to. Since these are all synonyms for pandering, that is appropriate nomenclature.

Seriously, i roll my eyes all the time with people who say this bullcrap. Says a lot more about them.
LOL. Knock yourself out! ![]()
Welcome back, we certainly needed your contribute in this important and, most of all, original thread.
That's my girl, always fighting against ignorance and stupidity.
Keep up the good work!
What can I say, I'm a keyboard warrior!!

All jokes aside..
I didn't really consider people to be overly rude to the OP. And the OP itself, isn't all that bad.
People are just wary because they've had to witness a certain troll spam the forums stating that Cass and Josie look like men, asking the devs to change their appearances and what not, to the point of going on about it on Twitter.
I'm not gonna respond to the previous comments arguing me; all I'm gonna say is this:
I'm attracted to Sera. I don't find her below legal age.. and I'm not attracted to children. I am not a predator or a pedo.
I must admit though, Zobert, I keep cracking up when you say "forum clique".
I think it's like that with most forums, tbh. Once you become a regular, you get to know people to a certain degree.

He asked for more options. Not that there were no options. And since when is it wrong to ask a company if they could possibly do _____________?
We're consumers buying a product. People begged Bethesda for Skyrim and got it. Gay gamers wanted exclusive gay LIs and got it. People wanted open world and got it. People wanted a different combat system and <gulp> got it.
If he said "Gays get all the good options" or "How come straight gamers have crap options" or whatever I could see, but his OP was perfectly polite and reasonable.
I wasn't talking to the OP. I quoted another user, who was not even remotely "perfectly polite and reasonable". She said that there were no interesting LIs for lesbian Inquisitors (subjective, but ok) and then proceeded to call said characters "a stupid street urchin with really annoying slang and half of the time she doesn't make sense" and a "boring golden spoon fed moron".
It's cool for some posters to be rude AF, but not others?

No, not really. Pander is about having a whim catered for a purpose and is not good. Politicians pander to constituents for votes that they won't care about later. Your hair stylist does not pander to you when you say that you want it cut in a particular way, nor does a restaurant pander to you when you ask them to hold the cheese on your burger or substitute on dressing for the next.

I'm sorry, I thought we were speaking about the OP. Wait, are you talking about Sera or a poster?
Here is my reason for bitchery. Since I arrived I have seen no end of rudeness to new posters, something I was a short time ago. The expectations on this forum are that you peruse literally thousands upon thousands of posts prior to posting feedback. That's just absurd expectations, especially from those who don't pay for or own the forum.
It's not as if the President of Bioware is saying these things, but regardless...
Speaking ill of Sera, Dorian, even my beloved Varric is not at all the same as me speaking ill of you or some other live person with feelings. I was told that Varric is boring in this game, that Morrigan is ugly, and that Alastair is a goober. All of these fake-people got me through dark times in my life, but at the end of the day...they're not real.
However, after reading the posts of someone on this very forum who said that the game is more important than his mother, I shall have to accept that my definition of a healthy relationship with a game is not the same as others and allow that you may feel personally attacked by someone calling Sera a street urchin and so to that I say, "Play On".
Just can we all be nice to the OP? When he said how long he's been gaming it reminded me of my mother. When we got to the US and she got my brother an NES or super NES, can't remember they stayed up all night playing so happy.
Not everyone is my age or younger. Older people have opinions, too. Can't we respect them?

verb pan·der \ˈpan-dər\: to do or provide what someone wants or demands even though it is not proper, good, or reasonable
Conceding that it is technically accurate to ascribe negative implications to the concept of pandering, it is still a matter of opinion whether those negative implications apply to requests like these. Also conceding that OP hasn't been close to as demanding and infantile as most who make topics similar to these, it is still requesting that straight male PCs receive a larger number of LI options than gay male PCs or Lesbian PCs, and suggests that the requestor only considers that straight females have more options, and doesn't consider that the other exclusive sexualities are likewise limited in options.
Finding that improper and suggesting that it amounts to a request for Bioware to pander to straight males is pretty reasonable.

Good point.
With the amount of requests for romances in general, I can foresee a similar path to Skyrim's "romances".

So we've got overly entitled OP who believes that just because the options presented to him aren't satisfactory or typical "Omg I'm going to fall all over you and have raucious sex because you're the epitome of manliness *swoon*" characters he deserves to be catered to and have the writers and devs at his every beck and call.
Then we have some ****** who sits there and insults every single person who dares to post then immaturely replies with retarded gifs like some tumblr teenager.
Then we have everyone else who is respectfully telling both of them to shut the **** up.
Then the people like me who are disrespectfully telling both of them to shut the **** up.
Wonderful.
In the end, no one has the right to ask for more LIs of any sort. The writers and devs are the ones who put their work into the game. If they felt more were needed then they would be added.
Have I always liked all the options? NO. I freakin' hated Leliana in origins and she was the only female available to me as a female character. When I wanted to try a male romance in DA2 what did I have? Angsty, A ruined version of a previously favourite character who was even more angsty and ended up being a maniac, and a religious nutjob who was basically Leliana with a penis and a boner for Andraste. No thanks.
Mass effect? Quiet nerdy girl who needed protecting and made me feel like I was freaking raping her because she came off as so innocent. No thanks.
ME2? Alien fettish ****** who had no real role in the game but to feed my fish.
ME3? Traynor, finally a good female option. Smart, tough, witty, able to hold her own and very aware of what she wanted. Not some innocent schoolgirl or fettishist who made me feel like she was collecting me.
Personally, I like Sera. Yeah, she's immature, she's uneducated but she's down to earth and funny as ****. She's not innocent or slutty, she's just her. She's a well-written realistic character who reminds me of many people I've known in life.
Josephine? She's adorable. On the surface she seems too innocent but I actually like her. Deep down you can see she's as sharp as a damn blade. So what if her romance has no sex scene. If that's what you care about then obviously story and character aren't the big drawing points for you in a game and you should go play something else.
And yet despite usually romancing females I felt that Bull had the best romance in the game. Realistic, funny, awkward, all the things a good true romance is in real life.
But I digress, a lot.
In the end, You can't say you had no choices just because you didn't like the choices presented. Either roll a femquiz, go gay, or just don't do the romance. It's not mandatory after all.

Make sure to do her personal quests, all of them. It also helps to be compassionate with her when she's talking about the Seekers. You don't have to agree with reforming them (although that does give a nice affection boost,) but be gentle with her and that helps a lot.

Believe in her, encourage her, do all of her companion quests. My Inquisitor became her best friend, someone she expressed tremendous admiration for, while making decisions she greatly disapproved of left and right. A lot of it is little things, like deferring to her in Val Royeaux when someone requests to join the Inquisition. Calling for a restoration of order, telling the advisors to stop arguing.
It's absolutely possible to max out approval with most of these character, even while making choices that they dislike.

Here's an example:
My first character, my dwarf, had a lot of trouble getting along with Sera. In most conversations, she was at least slightly disapproving of at least one thing my PC said, and much more in conversations after the Well. However, thanks to War Table missions and judgments, Sera got high enough affection with my character to do the Rooftop scene. So that's another trick I learned. Cass is much the same way; she likes the judgments where you give back to the people, such as sentencing the mayor to repay the village, or making the Dutchess do farm labor.
