Clans is probebly a feature that not likely to hit DA:I but didnt they promise a text chat at some point?
Anyhow i think they really need to add a clan system at least for the next game in line be it ME4 or DA:4 etc... I think its a must for games that give you multiplayer that focuses on Co-Op, and on that one i will praise AC:Unity which didnt do it perfectly but they at least did it and will probebly do it even better on the next game in line. It adds depth to the multiplayer with the option to join a clan, play and get to know its members and achieve the goals togheter with the weekly missions / competitions etc.. isnt it the goal of playing co-op anyhow? to "socialize" with other people? (and its not like its a must for the people that dont care about the social aspect).
P.S You can say that people can do it outside the game but this is 2015 and in my book such things should be built in game, and honestly must people wont bother with it, if they need to go searcing the forums and have a must of using voip to communicate.

I am not sure what you mean by that, but anyhow i am a PC player so i am not so sure about how often console players use voip to socialize. I guess its probebly different for console players, also i know that many people dont like using voip and as a console player you probebly never use a text chat so maybe the social aspect aint as importent for console players. And since the main focus is for console then maybe they think its not worth it. But i think i actully seen many console players posting on the AC forum for grouping up and joining clans etc...

I'm glad I can chat privately with my friends on xbone. I rather talk to them than the annoying disrespectful angry people in public lobbies.  I've come to the conclusion that most people gaming are socially awkward rejects who are mad at the entire world.  At this point I would rather play with the 12 years old kids because at least they have a good sense of humor and know how to have fun.

back in the day the only way to chat was using game chat so if you wanted to talk to friends you were talking to everyone. Then they let you create private parties to chat all the time to only friends and that was the end of talking to people in games for the most part.

As for text chat, it is a nightmare on console and I need to buy a keyboard to use for FFXIV. This could be why they are in no hurry since it would be purely for PC players (which seems to be the community that is dying off the fastest).

As for going to sites to group up, if this is where gaming is heading I may be heading for the door soon. Companies can save themselves the hassle of making matchmaking systems and force us to use other means. Do not like this thought.

tl;dr

You most likely won't get any answers about what is or isn't going to happen. Just need to check the patch notes (and play the game since the notes don't tell you half the changes)

I generally won't go out of my way to set up games with people. I prefer to jump into the games I play, because game time is limited. If DA:MP had a proper lobby with chat rooms, friends lists, etc. then I imagine people would have had a much better experience with the game from the beginning. I don't dislike consoles, but I hate it when the conventions of console gaming are forced onto PC. We have a keyboard right in front of us. Let us use it to communicate rather than force these needless limitations on us.

I don't know about anyone else, but multiplayer games without text chat feel lonely as hell to me. It's a strange feeling, considering how you're playing with other people. I can't always use a mic, and I don't always feel like speaking when I can.

FFXIV does everything right as far as chat/controls go, imo. I used to play on PS3 before moving to PC, and I bought a mouse/keyboard exclusively for that game. Any multiplayer game/mode should have the option of text chat, regardless of platform. Worried about toxic behaviour? Make mute block voice and text chat.

I actually just went back to FFXIV, since this has no incentive to keep me playing. I still prefer using a controller for DPS roles, but the ability to change between mouse/keyboard and controller on the fly is so nice. Wish more games had that capability.

I just renewed a few more months on my account as well. Once you set up the L2+R2 controls and can easily use 32 ability slots life is good with a controller. Except for trying to type. I can use keyboard and a controller can't I? Or is it mouse/keyboard or controller, no mixing.

Yeah, you can use both. Play with controller, hit enter on keyboard to type. It's like they actually thought about what features people might need.

Awesome, I still haven't hit 50 but I want to do some of the raids and what not so I'll need the ability to communicate during fights without standing still for a few minutes trying to type.

Not to mention the PS3/4 keyboard addon parts you can attach above or below the controller.
