The latest DLC is out and the reception is beyond bad. Timed exclusivity is a bad move and it shouldn't happen in the first place. I understand people complaining about it. But saying the DLC is worthless? Really?

Of course, you can choose not to buy it but at least pay respect to the people who made it. The whole DLC needs countless man-hours to develop. The devs did their best to deliver us a great product. Then the product isn't up to your taste, you just describe it 'worthless'.

P.S: I know many will find my opinion 'invalid' or 'fanboyish' but I'm being honest.

People are unhappy about the price. Those I've seen criticising the DLC (on reddit and on here) compare it with some of the DA2 and ME3 DLC which was the same price but (in their opinions) much longer and more developed.

Nope. At least from my perspective, the price is irrelevant. Many people appear to think that unless they are finding fault then they will be thought foolish and naïve. It will do no good to point out to them that being reactionary like that only betrays an implicit dependence on the perceptions of others.

MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

I may sound rude, but what the hell, when has that ever stopped me ...

The developers aren't actually owed any respect, sure I respect them as people, I do that to everyone. But am I supposed to sing their praises because they made a game 'for me' ? They didn't do that because they love me so much, they made a product, they got paid to make that product, and then their bosses sold it to me for money. Same as any other business . They aren't protected from criticisms, especially from someone who spent their hard earned money to purchase their product .

Do they work hard while creating their game ? Undoubtedly.

Are the criticisms sometimes not 'fair'? Probably.

Does that mean they shouldn't be criticized ? **** NO!!!

Respect is something you acquire by making efforts. It's not a privilege. The devs have been ignoring these boards lately and if you spent some times in the Feedback section, you'd understand why some people are frustrated with the feedback they're getting on the trailers and this DLC in particular. We're not just their cash cow, we're also people and some of those people feel like BioWare is mocking them by doing things that go contrary to their believes. Just how I see it.

There's a general inability to express criticism constructively, due to an immature need for attention which swings what one says to an extreme.

This is usually followed by an inability to understand that when people like the OP shake their heads at this, they are doing so not at the feedback itself but the childish way it is expressed.

The main source of criticism that has been discussed on the BioWare forum is this reddit thread: http://www.reddit.co...d_not_worth_it/

Overall, this feedback appears constructive rather than childish. I imagine that there is a lot of knee-jerk complaining, but that doesn't mean that all of the criticism is non-constructive.

Obviously there is constructive criticism, but the OP detailed what type of response he was talking about; ie talk of "worthless" or BioWare being "assholes" and such.

In the interest of being fair to examples such as the Reddit thread, I have found several sources of good analysis about the DLC, enough to conclude I don't want it for $15.

If you like DLC with the same boring fetch quest, completely unrelated from every companions, advisors or the main quest go ahead and "pay your respect to the developers" they will live well even without mine.

The devs did their best to deliver us a great product.

I find this statement of yours really funny, tell me where is the great product?  1/4 of the price of DAI for a DLC that took 4/5 hour at best.

There's a difference whether you curse their product or their person.

There's a difference whether you're respecting someone's work or their dignity.

If any of the latter ones are in question because of any release, you should have listened to your parents a little closer. If two digit sums make you step on either of those fundamental values, you should find a spine and a hobby you can actually afford.

Maybe because the devs haven't done enough to warrant some people's respect.

Agreed, though I don't accept your argument that there is a general lack of constructive criticism - there are clearly many unpleasant ad hominem attacks being made against the devs but I hardly think that this reflects the majority of criticism so far.

It's being called "criticism", not unrespect. Maybe a bit rough in some places, but no one is insulting devs thats for sure.

And in the end of the day, it's much worse when people just not buying it rather than explaining why they are not doing it.

I think they would have gained a lot more respect if they just fixed the game before releasing a DLC.

The PC version of the game is utterly rubbish and ive never encountered so many issues with a game earlier....

I love and respect BioWare, but atm they are shitting on their customers and i am slowly loosing my interest in the games they provide.....

i think it's important to buy it and play it before destroying it. Like a bad movie, see it first, then trash it .

If you feel ripped off , it's your prerogative to be blunt, rude , victimized , abusive , cold and analytical... whichever your education and personality have turned you into.

Otherwise, you're repeating hearsay , adding in some assassin statements of your own because, you know, internet ..

I respect those who work hard and those who attempt to create a fun experience for us.

I am still frustrated that the DLC is not to my taste.

I respect the devs plenty.

Not buying the DLC for now, doesn't catch my interest, but that's all there is to it.

Break out of the bubble of xenomorph-grade acid that is these forums if you want a less neurotic perspective on what 'people' think.

I'm not crazy about this plan because it means they get my money for something I don't like. Not purchasing speaks louder than any blunt, rude, victimized, etc thing that I could rant about in the forum.

Perhaps it's because the devs don't respect the customer. Respect, I believe, is a two-way street.

Plus, I find it difficult to respect those that ignore feedback. It ain't always positive or constructive, but some things need to be said.

*note: I've bought the DLC completely blind (as in, caught wind of it less than a day ago, and no watching a trailer. Going through, it's getting increasingly apparent that this was a mistake on my end. Stupid me deserves a kick in the balls or two for this choice.

Yes, we do describe it as worthless, because to us, that's what it is.

Let me give you an analogy. There's a cake baker. They bake huge cakes and people purchase slices of said cake. You like chocolate cake. One day, they bring out a coconut flavored cake. That cake is worthless to you, because it's not the chocolate you wanted.

Doesn't matter how much work was put into the thing, it's worthless, because it's not what you wanted.

Some posters on the BSN are objectively awful people. i think it would be more fun for the devs to actually say what they think of them. Sometimes they come close.

Say what you might, but it's been made abundantly clear over the past few years that they do take feedback into consideration (in fact, you can even see this play out in real time with their patch priorities in DAI).
