I respect the devs just fine. Just because the game didn't meet people's over hyped expectations doesn't mean the devs deserve disrespect. Now if the Dragon Age team acted like the Mass Effect team as in they see nothing at all wrong with their game and have the arrogance to think that we are just spoiled brats who can't appreciate "art"those people don't deserve any respect at all.

lolololol I remember some ME dude tweeted a link to an article that pretty much said "the whole game was the ending, so the ending isn't bad because the whole game isn't bad" with a comment that said "FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT".

Okay, wait, what? There are too many negatives - "doesn't mean the devs don't deserve disrespect." So I guess you're saying they do deserve disrespect?

There's no way I would not unsupport the kind of measure this isn't.

you have a headache?

Most arguments end in circular spheres of nowhere on here. It's tiresome when that happens all the time.

The latest DLC is out and the reception is beyond bad. Timed exclusivity is a bad move and it shouldn't happen in the first place. I understand people complaining about it. But saying the DLC is worthless? Really?

Of course, you can choose not to buy it but at least pay respect to the people who made it. The whole DLC needs countless man-hours to develop. The devs did their best to deliver us a great product. Then the product isn't up to your taste, you just describe it 'worthless'.

P.S: I know many will find my opinion 'invalid' or 'fanboyish' but I'm being honest.

I agree with you. My husband is a software developer and I know how hard he works even on the small projects. I personally may not enjoy playing some games or dlc but I sure don't begrudge the money I pay.

I do complain about superficial things in a game like hairstyles or armours but never in a way where I would be insulting the hard work of the developers. I sure appreciate things like dlc. I liked the recent dlc that was released. It was nice to have a new area to explore and it was really beautiful there.

I may sound rude, but what the hell, when has that ever stopped me ...

The developers aren't actually owed any respect, sure I respect them as people, I do that to everyone. But am I supposed to sing their praises because they made a game 'for me' ? They didn't do that because they love me so much, they made a product, they got paid to make that product, and then their bosses sold it to me for money. Same as any other business . They aren't protected from criticisms, especially from someone who spent their hard earned money to purchase their product .

Do they work hard while creating their game ? Undoubtedly.

Are the criticisms sometimes not 'fair'? Probably.

Does that mean they shouldn't be criticized ? **** NO!!!

Just quoting to say... This got 95 likes? It got so many it got a special "popular" star next to it? F***, I didn't even know that posts get a star on them if they get enough likes since I've never seen this happen before. Bet your notification box is just constantly lit up, yeah?

when they'll respect us as fans and customers we will respect them.

when they treat us as money making bots we treat them as cash grabbing artistic integrity pick a color EA drones.

It's easier to think of the developers as a commodity rather than people so players use the screen that separates them as an excuse to fling vitriol without cause. I find constructive criticism is something many are incapable of, especially when people want someone to blame. I also wonder if it's Bioware who decides when things get released or its publisher, EA. Pretty sure oversight has more power over that and they're not the nicest bunch around seeing the way they treated Maxis and their current studios.

Part of the problem is that the high power of modern gaming hardware, and the demands of gamers that developers make maximum usage of this power to make the graphics as pretty as possible (and maybe some gameplay as well) is causing the cost of game development to get higher and higher.

And so, in order to make profit to stay in business, the games industry needs to get more money from gamers.

This is being attempted using 3 methods

1) increasing the retail price of games - this causes a lot of whines and protest from gamers and leads to a rise in the used-game market  (In the UK high street retail is caught between games industry pushing the RRP up and gamers refusing to pay the RRP leading to significant reduction of high street retail as shops find it harder and harder to make a profit from new games so focus on used games or abandon games altogether)

2) Sell more copies- this is being attempted by increasing the mass market appeal and often "dumbing down" of games - measures which hurt the appeal to the existing core fanbase.  Also the industry tries to fight against the rise of the used game market by forcing multiple-player gaming into single player games.

Part of the problem is you can't appeal to all players so every change they make to appeal to some gamers will alienate others.

3) milk the fans with chargeable dlc, microtransactions, horse armour, etc...

Of course, to make any money from a game they have to release it - so Dragon Age II was rushed out to quickly cash in on the success of Origins without getting proper time and resources to develop.

I think Bioware has givin up on Dragon age, they are trying to make it similar to the elder scrolls and in turn lost what made Dragon age so much fun in the first place, I'm not going to respect people that do not care about there own product all they want is the money at the end of the day they would sell there game half finished and full of bugs if it meant three extra dollars in there pokets and thats what we have so far, granted not as bad as when DA2 first came out no one could play it, it just would not run at all.

I respect the devs as people but as buisness men nope

I may be totally out to lunch here, but I think most players enjoy-like-love (pick one) the game and are simply  voicing their wishes about tweaking the small stuff. The most upset voices seem to come from the PC players and last gen console players who have some real and legitimate problems with playablity. I know how angry I was over the fact that I literally could not play Skyrim on my PS3 because it was so badly bugged. Even after all the patches.... still had trouble with the game and the developers seemed so unresponsive - it was maddening. I hope these PC issues can be fixed.

I hope and trust that most players appreciate the parts of this game that are deep and brilliant and the countless hours and efforts Bioware put into all aspects of the game, . Although there are lots of strong preferences for this addition or that deletion - more or this and less of that - I think the vast majority have been respectful.
