I'm in love with the vanilla humie adept currently. At the start Singularity sucked, so I sort of shunned it. Then there were all the problems with Shockwave. The cumulative effect is that I haven't played the Adept much until now. I knew it could do well but I just rarely used it. Now I'm learning the idiosyncrasies of shockwave and it's working out quite well.
Singularty-shockwave detonating multiple BE's at once makes me happy.

Just reading up a bit, I play my adept with a power amp IV because that's what I have most of. If you have access to the scanner you mitigate a huge amount of damage by slightly wallhacking your shockwaves.
This is roughly how it goes for me at a spawn.
-See enemy, strip shields with weapon. (Talon and Acolyte are both great for this.)
-Singularity
-Dodge/Strafe behind cover (but stay in soft cover-RHA, you want to keep firing when you can.)
-Reload
-Shockwave (Which will cancel your reload if the timing works out well.)
If it's a single boss unit you might want to...
-Singularity
-Warp(Which detonates Singularity's primer)
-Warp again
-Wait for Singularity to detonate itself which detonates the previous warp into another BE as well.
Two very fast high damaging Biotic Explosions if specced right and with a low enough cooldown.
Shockwave takes, playing with... The way I have it specced is the exact way you aren't supposed to on PC. So I do miss targets. Things that impact it the most in my experience are vertical shockwaves if you're on a different level, aiming slightly down/up a ramp for instance. But mostly just lag. It's very much not a power that you fire at where the guy is standing at currently, you have to lead them a fairly considerable amount when you have the distance specced.
/shrug?
It's all space magic in the end.
