OOOOH just had an idea.... If you bring together a geth engineer and an Ice Princess, you'd have a hell of a fight
Is it a sin to consider AIU, AKA the Ice Princess, a power heavy person? *Falling chandeliers everywhere!*
Her snap freeze is more for weakening an enemy before shooting or meleeing them, so yeah.
A couple of people have already proposed it, but I'll put my vote in for the Vanilla Human Adept also.
It's a powerhouse kit and it's a good kit for any faction, especially if you're just starting out and haven't got may kits or gear unlocked.
Acolyte with Phasics (because I've got a tonne of that) which is handy for shielded enemies. That's what I go with if I'm searching Unknown, Unknown.
Or go with the Turian Sentinel. He's a great all-rounder with virtually any weapon.
Vanilla Asari or Human Sentinel Warp/Throw/Incendiary cheese.

It works with any character who has Overload. Me and PurpGuy did that last night -- me with AIU, him with Turian Sentinel. Many Reapers died gloriously.

There are loads of ways to set off Cryo explosions. A Paladin and an AIU can have some fun because they can detonate each other, the QFE can detonate using Cryo Blast, etc. But it's also true the greatest fun is with Snap Freeze specced for range and Multiple Chain Overload.
I just like the HFA against any faction..she's my favorite caster.
I think it needs to be said that the popular Grenade classes (QME/QMI, Drell Adept/Vanguard, Asari Vanguard, Batarian Adept, etc.) aren't nearly as effective if you don't have high-level Grenade Capacity gear. You can still do really well with them, but not having a good weapon and being limited to 3-4 grenades or so can make them a lot less awesome.
If you really have a spare manifest, you should concentrate on classes that are good at power combos and/or have powers that can do a lot of damage on their own. EDIT: or you could do a melee build too.
Power Combos: Human Adept, Fury, Asari Adept, Phoenix Adept, Human Engineer, and Paladin are probably the best.
Power Damage: Any of the Flamer classes, either of the Phoenix classes, Slayer Vanguard, Human Vanguard, Huntress, and Collector Adept are probably the best, and the QFE, Juggernaut, and Justicar can be pretty good too.
There are also Acolyte-based builds, such as the Pull-Reave Justicar, or any variety of builds based on detonating Tech explosions primed with ammo powers (the Human Sentinel does this pretty well). These work quite well even with an Acolyte I, all the way up to Gold.
This is my favorite power-based build, and it will literally work with any weapon on the game. The Talon is my favorite though, and if the OP has a Talon, it's perfect. Human Adept. I left passive/Fitness and the Armor mod slot open, because those are totally up to you. You can do full fitness, you can to 4/4 (my favorite), you can run a shield power cells with R5 fitness to get your recharge better, you can run a cyclonic, etc. The only thing I would say is do not take the Power Damage evos in the passive, because they won't help you much with this build.
I decided to do some tweaking to characters and playing around on platinum, and got an incredible Valkyrie setup.... Tuns out that the shield regen of the AF power also is affected by biotic explosions, and even more interesting is that a detonation with a banshee or phantom does a full regen... instant too... This setup miiight be a fury wannabe, but setting to have tech armor but not use it a lot (set to rank 3) allows me to put 6 in fitness, warp and AF, and 5 in passives.... when paired with a solid tank like a juggernaut, I was able to top the scoreboards.... Without tech armor (while the enemy is distracted) I was able to keep a ridiculous cooldown on warp while AF kept re-priming
I say Edibot or sexbot are both better names for herIs it a sin to consider AIU, AKA the Ice Princess, a power heavy person? *Falling chandeliers everywhere!*
which would you say are best against what?
Novaguard against Geth. No sync kills = no problem.
