Whose great idea was it to plaster the main menu with a permantent advertisement?

I agree. It was a good DLC, but an utterly obnoxious way of marketing it.

  Indeed.  I'm glad it was worth the price.  Then again, I didn't pick up the game until a year after it came out, and by then folks were already giving their reviews.  Unlike some of the posters, I still have faith in the company, but it feels like I got lucky there.

To whom ever is in charge of promoting DLC: Please don't ever do that again.

New elite enemy: marketing demon. It's immune to cold damage and consumer feedback/whining.

Not defending it, but I think it's we're going to have to get used too.

But by getting used to it we become immune and this type of marketing becomes more background noise and ultimately ignored.

Complaints aside, at least OP used the correct "whose"! ;)

Also, I agree, it'd be real swell if we could just close or minimize the ads when they're present. Or, Bioware could replace them with a small, out-of-the-way marquis at the bottom type of deal. It's not like it'd be difficult.

I'm with the OP here. Every weekend I'm getting the obligatory annoying banner about some multiplayer event. I really wish it were possible to get that stuff off.

Wow, I didn't realise Levi Dryden did that if the DLC had not been purchased !

Be thankful there isn't a permanent War Table flag: DLC quest $15 !

Honestly, that's just bad. I mean the main menu wasn't that great but at least it was something nice to look at. Now it's permantely replaced with a poster to let me know that I should buy the new DLC today.

Wow, what's next? Changing the title music to spot that repeats endlessy? Did I buy I freemium game or did I buy a $60 full price game?

It's okay to have some sort of news ticker (like it was done for the multiplayer events and every other Bioware game since ME2).

If you really undertook the effort to change the background animation to something resembling the new dlc, that would be something different, this here is just blatantly rude.

the topic is misleading.

1) Who says it's permanent?

2) by advertisement I would understand banner for some developer company or insurance... or even banner for some other game. But DLC? What's our problem with that? It's more like news info rather than advertisement and not all people search forums so I consider it a great way to tell people that the DLC is up

It's great if it has a small X sign next to it, and once you click it, you never have to deal with it again. If not? It permanently screws your starting screen.

Just to make some thing clear: I absolutely don't have anything against advertising new content if it's informative.

The difference between examples in former Bioware games and now is that these were way smaller and didn't obstruct the whole screen. That's my point, just make it smaller like the multiplayer announcements were. (At least there were smaller in late December, I haven't really played the game since.)

I also understand that's it's better than bringing back Levi Dryden, who creepily watched you sleeping, until you payed him so you could help him, but not by much.

The DLC only just came out today, just give it a few days and it will most likely be gone. It's not like changing the title screen ruins the game or anything. Why does everyone on this forum only seem to complain?

cos the world is full of self entitled cry babies

If they had Varric pitch the DLC as the load screen, I might actually buy it. Especially if Cassandra was distracted the way she was in that nomination video.

Especially if she is distracted by our Inquisitors this time around.

Do people really spend long enough on the main menu to actually notice things there?
