Are you able to log in and play DAI on PS3 without installing it?

For now, on the old-gen thread, we have PS3 players but they say they haven't DL the patch because he is not avaible. So, it is a little too early to bring a feedback, sorry. ;)

I haven't played much on PS3 since the 5th patch. Why? What does the 6th patch do to an otherwise really fluid game on PS3 that has only few bugs?

So far I have only encountered bugs that really everyone on every system has - I believe. The characters sink into the ground for no reason at all and get stuck at their kneecaps.  They walk through environmental objects that should be solid - like rocks and such. In many cutscenes everything freezes and I have to button-mash my way out of the conversation which I then miss almost completely. Objects popping up in the near background and generally popping up very late and such which would be down to the fact that they released a game on PS3 that really doesn't belong on this weak, old tech!

I can confirm that. I have tried to download it several times for my PS3.

I don't think I was very clear. What I was asking, was whether or not you actually could play without downloading the patch. Not if the patch was worth it. ;)

I hear you, though. I play on PS4, and I've also had a very stable experience with the game. These patches seem to introduce a little something-something naughty each time they're released, but that seems to be consistent across the board.

I guess my assumption was that you couldn't play without downloading the patch. Maybe I'm wrong? Kinda just asking for future reference, because I just blindly said, "sure, go ahead and waste hours and hours on my crappy connection, downloading this 1.6GB patch." :D

Sounds like some people can't even download it? That's not good.

Sorry, I gived my answer to the OP.

I own a xbox360 version and, if a patch exist, you can't play if you don't download it. The only way to play, otherwise, is to unplug from the www.

Ok, thanks. ;)

So you have to have the patch to play, but there are people that can't get the patch. Oh boy.

Thank you for responding!

I don't know what to make of any of this either. But I would guess you can play without downloading the patch on consoles ...

But BioWare really should put much more people or time or effort or whatever ... in ... when it comes to fix this title!

They are far from finished! And this hit and miss agenda they created with the last five patches seems to continue further onward. I am just glad that this patch will get "tested" on other platforms until it hits the PS3. OTOH - I really do not play at the moment. I will coninue to wait for more patches. Again - they are far from done with patching up this title!

Do you have any of the bugs I described in my last posting? The ones of which I thought that almost everyone has them?

Yeah, hopefully they can devote more resources to bug fixes in the near future. :)

I've had some of those bugs on PS4, yeah, but not to the extent that you have on PS3. Good lord, that stuff sounds awful.

Sinking into the ground - not really. Sometimes the requisition officer will be lodged halfway into the ground (her torso on up is all that's visible), but I haven't noticed it with anyone else.

Walking through environmental objects - Yes, I have seen this on occasion, but not all that often.

Cutscene freezes - No, I haven't had this happen since patch #5. The one area where things would get flaky, and I'd have to skip through it, was in Here Lies the Abyss. The rest of the game was fine.

Objects popping up in the background - I'm not sure what you mean. Is this a page drawing thing? Like, part of the background will show up, then some will show up later? Because yeah, that does happen sometimes. Mostly with camps and stuff in the distance.

One bug that's new that's been annoying me is that every single time I fast travel to the first camp in the Hissing Wastes, my character freezes up, and can't move. I can rotate the camera, but nothing else. I can switch to another character, and they move just fine. Then I switch back, and it's still hosed. I have to get a decent distance away from that camp, and suddenly it resolves itself. This happened in my last three playthroughs, but not the two before them. I think it started on patch 5 as well, but I could be wrong.

I don't think it is even available for the ps3. If it were wouldn't it have downloaded automatically? Or am I missing something blatantly obvious?

It sounds like it's not available yet on PS3, if I'm understanding correctly.

You can say no to installing the patch on ps3. No multiplayer or keep because it logs you out of psn but you can still play single player with no patch.

I think this patch has seriously helped my system. It no longer runs incredibly loudly.
