Does Anyone Want Any Toast?

Man, I loved that show. It was hilarious. We got crap for TV reception, even with a big arsed, honking roof antenna, when I was kid but fortunately PBS came in clearly.

I bought Gothic 2 just by the pictures in cover. That was the deal that made me a gamer

For example BioWare insisting we have to hold RMB down when moving is horrible, and adds unneeded stress to right hand

There's mouselook now, you just need to define a button.  ^ Like for the Gothic reference :)

One of my all time favorite...

Man I worship that game. For me it will always be THEE game, the game of all games and you know. Piranha Bytes sad state makes me wanna cry, though I did enjoy Risen. I wish they would have continued from that, instead doing these failed pirate-games that no one likes. Nameless Hero is my hero. lol.

Yeah, it's a shame. Gothic 3 was the beginning of the end already. 1&2 I played over and over and over...

and over and over and over and over... (you got the idea I guess)

Risen was ok, but the magic was gone.

I get it. I totally get it. Sometimes I think if I would find Gothic 2 now and try it, would I have patience to learn it like I did then when gaming was new to me. It has wonky controls and only one difficulty: nightmare. Even quests can be merciless in difficulty. But that game had SOUL. Writing itself was amazing, and everything was carefully handcrafted and in every corner there was something to find. And you take two steps in wrong direction too early: WHAM you are dead. That was how they handled exploration. Areas were beautiful and they have this strange atmosphere I have never found in any game. Maybe it is the engine they used (it was home-made). And music! It was so...Imma speechles. This one feels it is time to install Gothic 2 again.

If I'm falling asleep, I don't even try to play DAIMP, especially not MP. I lose my temper very quickly if I'm tired (read: I throw controllers and yell a lot at stupid little things).

More than happy to help if you want some criticism (Graduating with a B.A. in English in May, Writing Consultant at Uni, Content Writer for a marketing company, and copy editor for a small - miniscule by most standards - press).

What all do you like to write? Screenplays/fiction/nonfiction/poetry/other? Genre?

Edit: OP, you may as well make this a General Discussion thread.

That's very generous of you to offer! It's been a long while since I did much writing tbh but I used to write (or try to) satirical fiction at college. Occasional poetry, and song lyrics. Most of my creativity nowadays gets sucked up by the rock band I am in.

I used to have a couple of friends that liked writing stuff too and we mainly used to write for our own fun and read each other's stuff and have a laugh. Good times!

Every time I see the thread title, I think the next questions are gonna be:

"Where do you live?"
"Can I smell your fingers"
and
"Can we be friends?"

Yeah, casual gamers excluded :)
The controls were ... different. Counter intuitive but once I got used to them I loved it. Esp. Gothic 1, which had no mouse support at all :)
Who needs a mouse for a RPG anyway...noobs

Nicely said! I'm thinking of the big forest north of Khorinis right now. That one was scary. I always cleaned it after I finished the Night of the Raven add on, to survive it, but it was no stroll even at somewhat high level.

And the game was so rewarding. If you did all the side/quests properly and squeezed out every exp point you could possibly get, through pickpocketing, burglary, the right order of doing the quests, killing all the things on the map etc., you would become a godlike creature in the end. Go(o)d times.

This one feels it is time to install Gothic 2 again.

I just looked up if it would run under win7 :)

My Gothic 1 has mouse support (well at least some kind), I have the complete Gothic-universe pack so it might be updated version. And Gothic 2 Gold has always run just fine for me under win7.
