Hello, Bioware folks. Hope everything's going okay on your end and all. Apologies if this is not quite the right forum to place this thread in but I couldn't find anything better.

Down to business. What I was wondering if any official elaboration could be done on is the status of all Amulets of Power in Inquisition. I commend the end of exploitation of such, honestly. Such practice generally leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. However, are all lootable amulets SUPPOSED to be gone - at least the ones often left victim to exploitation that have disappeared since Patch 5, or is that an unintentional side effect of the patch coding? I haven't heard any word edge-wise, at least officially. Mostly suspicions and hearsay from members/users across the internet.

Me, I can potentially live without some amulets, but all I'm looking for is some official detail if possible, nothing more. I don't intend on inflammatory content or not, just the truth to sate my own curiosity/concern and confusion.

After some digging, there appears to be no official word about the Amulets of Power.  For now, they seem primarily focused on the DLC.  If anything pops up, they'll either announce here, on the News/Announcements section, or on the BioWare blog.  There is a fix for it on nexus, if you're on the PC.  It won't restore the exploit (I never used it, but to each their own,) but it will put back the Amulets of Power into the chests.

By the way, thanks for being so reasonable and positive in your OP.  You might get a lot of snarky/negative posts, but try to ignore those.  There has been a lot of threads on this subject, but yours is by far the most civil.  Call this an honorary like until I can give you one.  :D

You can try asking Mark or Mike on Twitter, but I'm not sure you'll get a reply.

The amulets were removed from the containers. The only ones that were left alone were those that could be made the only thing in their respective containers (they actually removed other items from the chest in the Fallow Mire, and the player amulet in Crestwood is in a container on the ground now). It wasn't done by accident.

It seems odd that BioWare would elect to leave a companion with no amulets while others still retain multiples (especially when not all of them could even be exploited), but it is what it is.

devSin brings up a good point: The devs do use Twitter quite a bit, so you can check there as well.   They may not answer, since I know of at least one former poster that spammed twitter and the forums about this.  One bad apple, ect.

Thank you. I prefer reason over emotion, especially now that I'm in my early thirties. I'm just not the raging hormonal guy I used to be. ;)

As far as the Nexus mod, I have heard of that, but I've heard some complications involved with such, so I'm holding out for official word. On the other hand, I'm also holding out to find if word comes out after the whole thing with Jaws of Hakkon.

Twitter is honestly something I don't care to use, but if it's the only way to get through to Mark or Mike, I'll consider it.

As far I could see the day when they officially addressed bug and gave people ETAs about resolutions are gone.

It seems to me that they have chosen a new way to deal with problems: they read complaints, collect informations and feedback and then they decide what to fix and when (and also IF to fix...).

I have seen only a single exception so far for this game which is when they broke the crafted shields, a bug that they addressed immediately and fixed after 2 days with an hotfix.

I'm glad they got rid of the exploitation. The only thing is one person has multiples while another has none to one. It requires balancing I think 3 or even 4 would be nice per person. A few other patches (off topic) should have been considered more carefully or even altered very carefully. BUT THANK YOU FOR FIXING THE MOSAIC FINALLY! WOO...(sorry off topic) Now...for the schematic fixes...hopefully (stares at weapon and shield warrior waiting to be played)

I'm sorry, I'm at a loss. By ETAs and all, are you saying there's no notices about when stuff gets fixed?

There's notices, but they rarely give a time as to when it'll get fixed.  Also, for some players, it seems like developers are ignoring the players entirely, and don't seem to acknowledge some issues.

You're going to see a lot of angry posters around, ranting about how much BioWare and/or EA sucks now.  If you want a happier thread to hang out in, the "What did you do today" thread stays positive and most posters are good about using spoiler tags.  :)

Okay, so after buying the developers some time to work out this issue it seems some improvements have been made as of late. I was reading up on the page for Amulets of Power on the Dragon Age Wiki (link: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Amulet_of_Power)and it appears that a number of the amulets for the Inquisitor, Blackwall, and Cassandra appear to be safe from the glitch now, but likely not exploitable (no tears shed here about that). Looks like the only one still definitely sketchy at the moment are the one for Blackwall from the quest Explanations (or its opposite, Revelations).

There haven't been any changes since Patch 5 (when most of the amulets were removed).

All characters (including the player) now have access to two amulets at most, except the gay companions, who only get one. The only amulets remaining in containers are the player amulet in Crestwood (moved to the ground), Cassandra's in the Fallow Mire (everything else was removed from the chest), and Blackwall's in Adamant (I'm not sure if that one was always by itself or if they removed other items there too).

As I understand it, it was a deliberate choice to remove the amulets and not a bug. Yeah, it sucks, but it's unlikely they'll go back on that.

Where did you hear that?

Hello at the OP

I am indeed one of those exploiters who abused respawning chests. My motivation was for power and for curiosity sake ((would fire make a good combination with necromancy and restoration, ect. Ect.))

I apologize for my actions as I had no clue that bioware would not find an alternative solution toward addressing the exploit. My hope is that they one day add them back in either in the original locations, but make it so it doesn't respawn or provide a way to buy them with gold after certain milestones.

Anyway.. I hope you find the answers you are looking for from the developers twitter account.

Having trouble understanding how Twitter works. I've never used it before, so how to find what I'm looking for on there is a mystery.

The thing about exploits is that you don't have to use them, it's a choice. Choices are optional. Opinions are not however, and your commendable attitude towards choices being taken away simply because you dislike them are wholly selfish.
