Playing the game at all is optional. If you're going to put something in a game, make it entertaining in some way even if it's just for a cheap laugh. Like the Sad Weapon.

Don't put stuff in a game just because 'it needs stuff'. It's like they were trying to fill a quota or something.

That's right playing the game is optional and having spent so much time playing it and commenting on it in these forums I don't think anyone can say with a straight face that the game is not fun. Or maybe it's just whining about it is more fun? If that's the case you still owe them thanks. They gave you something to complain about and write about. Is there a quota for that?

These caused me pain just reading them. I hate escort quests.

Who doesn't? It's the most hated gaming device outside of quicktime events.

I agree, but given this there first venture into a new game engine and having such large areas in DA means this is just a temporary thing. I believe it may improve in future instalments, by how much I don't know but I am holding out for the wish to return to Neverwinter Night and Baldur Gate level of quests, very diverse and numerous

That is entirely a matter of preference. Plenty of people did not have fun with it after giving it a fair chance.

And I already gave my money for the game, so that covers what I owed anyone for it.

Edit: I liked the characters and story quite a bit. The gameplay... not so much. Good salad, bad vinagrette.

At least with Druffy she never really dies and is a pretty good tank.  If you had to escort someone or something to the other side of Orlais I could think of worse people or things to take!  :)

I wish I had known Druffy's power. I tried to sneak her across those river demons like I was smuggling illicit goods past the United Rifts of the Fade border patrol.

Most of the time I still take her around the long way.  Down the hill to the left,  kill the bandits if they are there, through the river, sneak up the hill rather than straight across by the rift.  Most of the time I just don't want to deal with that mess because I'm always like a level 8 and that rift is a level 12.

The side-quests in this game did indeed suck. DA:O and DA2's were far superior/less absurd.

@ sofajockey - where does banging Mor-....er, the Dark Ritual fall on your list?   :P

DA2 had some rather odd fetch quests, in that you find a thing, then get a quest to give it to some random person.  "Here, I found this thing I wasn't looking for - apparently, it belongs to you; give me money"

Like with Ser Thrask regarding that letter from his apostate daughter?

"Pay me or I'll expose you." lol

Can anyone point to an rpg that doesnt have so called fetch quests? I define fetch quests as go do activity X and report back. They do t necessarily advance the story or provide good background lore knowledge, but they do help you gain experience, gold etc.

If DA:I has too many, what rpg has the right amount?

All RPGs are like that, Skyrim did it too, however it did not  'tell you' that you were doing fetch quests lol. It was: enter newly discovered cave etc, find secret treasure, sell it to some dude. Or, find big glowing stone, clear out cave for a PMS sounding goddess, get sword, put sword in nice display case in your mansion (AKA, giant glorified junk container)for about a year...Get tired of it, then sell it to some dude. Or drop off this message for the Imperials, kill this vampire for the Dawnguard, fetch the golden claw, and on and on.
