I don't wanna spoil anything for anybody, but is there anyone who already beat the boss in the new dlc? I have been playing on nightmare and I never had that much problems I had to overcome, but this boss is unreal. My companions keep dying before I even have the chance to heal them. Does anyone have tips for me?

Use the potion you find in the temple, the who gives you Frost resistence, the mob abilities destroy your Barrier (if the mobs are mages) or your guard (if they are normal mobs) and they can one shot you with their Frost dmg.
If you are fighting against the ravenant-esque boss, just burst him and forget about the mobs, I did the Mark of the Rift > Mark of Death combo and exploded him.

Having the same issues. Tried using Mark of the Rift to do damage, but I guess without also having Mark of Death I'm screwed.

Also, the DLC has no Milestone system like the rest of the game, so it didn't create a Milestone save before the final quest, so I can't go back and trade out party members.

It frustrates me because my party build (Inquisitor as KE + Storm and Frost, Dorian having Spirit and Necromancy support + Inferno, Varric having traps, poison, stealth, and archery, and Iron Bull being two-handed with taunting, pull chain, and devour) was pretty much fine beating Nightmare for the entire base game. It's only now in this DLC that enemies one-shot Bull or the Inquisitor when they have full-health and guard, or random stuff comes out of nowhere. Doesn't feel well made.

Try using the potion you acquired in the temple, it will give you Frost resistence.

I have been trying to beat that boss for three days now... Question, if anyone knows, the big tank hakkonites seem to teleport right in front of me, for some reason? Glitch or something that I am doing wrong?

Example:

I enter the fighting field use Pull of the Abyss to pull them together, then use mark of the Rift to damage all of them while they are 'cuddled' together and then the only two huge deadly tanks (please correct me if you know their proper names) suddenly teleport right in front of me avoiding my mark of the rift and pull of the abyss. - They occasionally do that throughout the fight too.

Is that just a glitch or is this something triggered by my abilities? My inky is a rift mage with full 'lighting' tree as well.

Thanks for any input!

Similar issues here and also on NIGHTMARE.

i stocked up on ice resistance it it had no effect. however I noticed having ROCK ARMOR semi helps but I toilet them to quickly for my warrior. My rouge has tempest which seems to be useful but my issue is it causes the game to go into slllllllloooooooooowwwwwwwww moooooooooooooooo mode (meter runs normal though ><) and my allies tend to not do anything. I feel picking off the archers is the best way to do it but I don't know of a fair way to do it without getting instant killed over random nonsense. I swapped Cole for Cassandra and it didn't seem to matter. Inquisitor attack only does 25% of damage. I swear i had it fully charged but I have been downed in a few previous fights so i don't have my inquisitor special fully charged.

This may seem obvious, but Gurd, like all Avvar, is especially vulnerable to lightning damage. Electricity staves, upgraded Static Cage, and a few Energy Barrages will drop him right down.

Meanwhile, the cold resistance potions, guard, and barrier will help keep you alive. It also helps if you complete the Cold challenge in the Solassan temple and collect all the shards and do the temple quest in the Frostback Basin itself. Innate cold resistance comes in handy!
