Okay Bioware...even I'm disappointed in this DLC.

I disagree. I like Weekes and all but Gaider's writing has a depth that most of the other team members don't seem to grasp correctly. If you've read the novels you'd also see that he's quite talented as an author as well.

As for my least favourite writer on the team that goes hands down to Mary Kirby. I believe she's the one who ruined Anders in DA2 and turned him from a funny interesting character into an angsty maniac that I couldn't stand to have around.

I'm glad Inquisition brought back some of the humour. DA2 had its moments and I love that game but overall there was far too much angst and not enough light-hearted normalcy.

Jennifer Hepler wrote Anders in DA 2, among other things. I take it the goal was to portray a mentally unstable person. I did not like the changes either, but I doubt this decision was made without Gaider's approval.

I have to disagree.
He surely is a terrific lead writer but writing books did not seem to be his cup of tea. The characters had a fantasy cliche feel to them so much so that I thought it bordered on satire.

Not so Weekes who had established himself as a fantasy writer before DA afaik. Still made me think about what's going to change, if at all.

A little off-topic here, but "Bioware" doesn't need defending. They are a company that just made quite a lot of money with DAI and already moved on to other projects. What the people who made DAI deserve is a slap on the back for making a decent game and characters like Dorian and stuff.

Besides, defend BW from what? I'd hate to think there would be anyone attacking BW rather than providing constructive feedback.
Oh wait

I liked the DLC, I think mostly because I love Lore and the codexes provided a bit more depth to the story.  For people who simply collect the codexes for the sake of XP or just for completion sake, this is probably where BioWare fell short.  They should have put a lot more effort into conveying the information in the codex into world events e.g. The spirits you find on the island etc.

They had a lot of potential for 'flashbacks' which would have contributed far more to the story and added a lot more intrigue to it... It would have broken up the fetch quests more as well and made them feel more important rather than the snippets from each quest giver at the end.

Overall I did like the DLC, but it fell short for the above reasons... I reckon if they'd relied less on codex entries people would have enjoyed it more as they weren't going to miss anything.

...As for Gaider... He was an okay writer, I personally found some of his work jarring in terms of his novels.  He also did focus too much on politics and it began to show - while I get that he's an advocate for LGBT (and a very firm one), it was beginning to feel to me that he was trying to shove it down my throat even though this probably wasn't his intention e.g. Iron Bull snapping at me for a seemingly harmless comment regarding Krem.  Granted the problem faced by Krem is a very real one, but snapping at me for asking a question so that I understand better is hardly a way to endear yourself to me!

I'm all for progressive stories, but not at the expense of a story's integrity and changing certain characters for the sake of a fanbase, an unpopular opinion perhaps, but not everyone in the world is going to agree with each other or see eye to eye.

Hopefully Gaider will stay on board on an advisory level for the next projects though, he wrote and designed Cassandra and Dorian beautifully, Dorian is fantastic, as is Cassandra, and I wouldn't want to see them go the same direction that Anders did (which destroyed my favourite character from Awakenings in one fell swoop)... But I'd like to see what Weekes can do with the franchise now.  Weekes has a lot of talent and he deserves the opportunity, a new pair of eyes and creative direction would be a healthy change too.

So, what kind of story would people like to see in future DLC's? It's all well and good to explain dissatisfaction with something, but let's talk about ideas for future additions to the game. (I haven't played the DLC yet, so I can't say one thing or another about it. When I saw the trailer though, I thought it looked cool, but I remember that my first thought was, "That's it? I expected more.")

Personally, I'd want something more personal to the Inquisitor. I toyed with the idea about returning to the Inquisitor's origin somehow, like meeting some of the family if you're human or the clan if you're an elf. Or just past friends/acquaintances/enemies. I think that would be fun, but when I consider it realistically, it probably won't happen. Lately I've been entertaining the idea of an attempted assassination on the Inquisitor's life... while in Skyhold (imagine the drama XD). If the nobles in Orlais are worth assassinating, you better believe the leader of the Inquisition is, whether he/she is nice or a jerk.

For me i'd love more deep Elven or Dwarven Lore/ cities and some more Future Ruined World trips the time travel part was amazing..

I'd even enjoy more fade excursions to rescue Stroud/Hawke/whoever

Ah, right, I forgot Kirby didn't write Anders in 2, thank you! I also understand that Gaider did approve the changes but from him I also got the overall feel that he wasn't exactly happy with them in the end either.

I feel like she ruined the character.

Retconning his sexuality? Okay that can be explained away as "Just because he never told his supposed best friend he was Bisexual doesn't mean he wasn't!" because they needed to make him playersexual like every other LI in the game. (Yes I know Gaider said they were bisexual but I don't accept that answer. The possibility of THAT many people in one group being Bisexual is absurd. Not to mention that unless you romance them as same-sex neither Anders nor Fenris ever mention or show any interest in men. Out of all the groups of diverse people I've ever been in I have either been the ONLY bisexual/pansexual person or there was one other. Not more than half of the group.)

Suddenly turning him into a maniac? I understand the logic behind that character development but I don't understand WHY they would have chosen that. Orsino could just as easily been the one who blew up the chantry, or some other throwaway character, a new companion, FREAKIN' JOWAN (who was supposed to be a companion in Origins and return in 2 but never did). There was no need to ruin one of the most light-hearted and fun characters of the series.

Not to mention that this change made the choices of male love interests: Homicidal Posessed Maniac, Brooding Angst machine with a cliche' tragic past, and Religious nutjob.

It seems the Australian DLC price has dropped to 19.99 from 24.99   very odd..
