Alright so currently I am in a hotel for the week and I can't get online (Sucks because I can't download all the content and what not which frustrated me).  I can't sign into Xbox live so I try playing the game.  I am able to get into the game, sign in (without being online) and load my ME1 character.  At the screen where I select difficulty, autosave, etc. it tells me something about my save data being changed and that I would need to sign out to continue, prompting me to restart if I press A (Restarts the game).  If I do that, when the game loads up I get that message right away and it will continue to restart unless I sign out.

I tried going through the process and loaded my ME1 character by signing out during the "select difficulty" screen and it seemed to have worked and loaded all of my data.  When I get into the game though it does not auto-save, nor does it allow me to save my data at any time. 

Does this have to do with me not being signed into Xbox live?  I tried the whole "Play the last mission/defeat Saren in ME1" but it didn't work.

Bumping this post because I am having the exact same problem.



I just finished playing ME1 on the exact same XBox account that I am now trying to play ME2 on.



I imported my character and got the "Sign in change. Please sign out of your gamer profile to continue." message,. So I did sign out hoping that I could sign back in once the game started and save my progress.



But the game is not letting me save and is not letting me sign into my account in order to save my proogress and I doubt that it is auto-saving.



What's going on and when will this be fixed?

Bump. I have 2 completed characters one at level 36 and one at level 56. I get signed out of xbox live when I try and import and then get told my save device changed and must restart. So I tried doing it offline and I get the same result minus being signed out.

I'm having the exact same problem. no matter what i do, when i try to import a ME1 character it tells me a sign-in change has occurred. and if i sign out, i can't save.



My internet isn't working right now, so i can't go online either. i was thinking it may have something to do with that.



I just want to play using my character

no dout this totaly lame bull**** they had to have known of these problems this just another cause of greed vs quality

I had similar issiues as OP, but I've found what's causing it.



The problem is as follows:

if you have an offline account on which you play ME2 - all is good and working.



BUT

if you have an LIVE account and at the time of starting ME2 you ARE NOT CONNECTED to Live [ie. network cable disconnected form the console] - this problem appears. Game ask you to log out due to a change in signin in. The, after you log in [but are still disconnected from LIVE] you CAN'T import any character, because the same message appears - a problem with signing in.



So.. Either:



1) have an offline account;

2) be always connected to LIVE

3) wait for BioWare to patch this, as it's an obvious omission on their part [probably they didn't test it];

Same happens to me but when i sign out it says my storage devices is disconnected and i have to restart.
