I think you may be seeing things you are overanalyzing and interpretating some sort of depth that DA:I's story apparently has when there really isn't any of that
I did pay attention to the story because as a DA fan I kept hoping there was more to it but nope it was just terrible
Bioware obviously didn't put much effort to it but hey maybe its just 2deep4me? (lol)
Too deep for you? You don't have to read between any lines to see that DAI explores the concepts of faith and religion. The game is rather overt about it, from Cassandra holding onto to her beliefs despite what we find out in the Fade to Vivienne's insistence that the Inquisitor should use peoples' beliefs to grab and hold onto power. It was even displayed as the focus of the game's plot in the "Hero of Thedas" trailer.
You can certainly argue that Bioware didn't discuss these concepts well (and I would disagree), but that would require actually dissecting the plot, the characters, the dialogue and what it all says about the themes. But you seem more interested in criticizing Inquisition's pacing and its ability to construct high level drama, which is valid, but that pertains more to entertainment level than depth.
