My only question is, if you're a good player, why do you need nightshade blades just to handle phantoms? They're insanely easy to kill, just poison strike.

Just run up to about 5m away, poison strike, spin and shoot while they're staggered, and poison strike a second time(if it's even necessary). They get shredded so ridiculously easily. In fact, Poison Strike destroys ALL mooks with practically no effort at all. The initial damage breaks or nearly breaks their shields and staggers them, then the DOT kills them while you are already gone.

Poison Strike is so insanely underrated. A single strike does as much damage to all forms of protection as incinerate does to armor, and you can poison strike twice as often. PLUS it has a larger AoE. PLUS it gives the player invulnerability and DR.

I LOVE using poison strike.... I use it a LOT... I like that it allows you to avoid 'OH S***' moments that generally occur in late gold CQC types.... Though I use it more as a transportation, it allows me more breathing room in melee flurries (because the DOT makes them faster to kill AND makes them not regain shielding....

Considering full fitness is pretty much a waste of points on the TGI (most classes actually unless you're going down the melee tree) why not put some points in Overload - it's not like you lose anything doing so

I lose shield HP, which I kinda like. To stay alive and keep shooting instead of hugging the ground, you know.

Overload's damage to shields is abysmal. It's OK for Marauders / Nemeses, probably does something to Phantoms. Banshee, on the other hand, laughs at it. Harrier takes care of shields faster. And time spent casting OL is time spent not shooting.

Overload shouldnt be used so much on its own, but rather as a detonator.... Pairing chain overload with a snap freezer makes for a LOT of dead trash.... Having overload as a primer also does terrifying damage to any shielded enemies.....  There is just something VERY satisfying about triple cryo bursts...

Agreed. And since I usually use AP ammo on TGI, I skip Overload on him.

I'm not sure why you think Overload doesn't fit, you cast it to break Cloak and then shoot. It strips barriers and shields so amazingly and stuns groups.

I can cast it to break Cloak. But no, it doesn't strip barriers amazingly. At least if you take chain evolution (4a). Haven't tested 4b (max. single-target damage).

Makes a lot of sense... I have a couple of characters designed for the sole purpose of being self reliant pug matchers.... But because I play with friends a lot, I do have certain luxuries with my specialties

...yes, it does. Even a non-cloaked 4a+6a chain overload will drop a Phantom's barrier on Platinum in two casts. If you are on host, that's a pretty big deal.

Phantom has around 3k barrier on gold and 4k on platinum. A TGI with overload specked for 4a+5a+6b will do 3,5k damage to shields&barrier when cast from cloak (read always, since you should never cast it without cloaking first). So on gold you're stripping her naked and on platinum she will only have really small piece of barrier left. (And phantom just serves as an example here, the overload will still help killing boss units quicker too).

Just don't make any plans. In any relationship, it's the phantom who does the penetrating :P

But as the flakiest power in the entire game, it's completely unusable on the two higher levels for those of us who don't host. Seriously. It's just a waste of points which will get you killed over and over and over again, which is a tragedy.

I used Poison Strike strictly as a movement technique. For things I can't dodge through, I can Poison Strike through. And if I happen to hit some enemies, that's swell.

Though I think you're an awesome troll and I approve, I have to single this out for how excellent it is.

The most overpowered weapon class in raw DPS is low on damage? I salute you sir/ma'am.

IDK man, I feel sort of underpowered when I'm wrecking the **** out of a platinum Praetorian with a Raider Valkyrie. They probably should look into buffing that.

Yeah, I tried that too, but it genuinely does absolutely nothing off-host so frequently that I finally gave up on it.

You know you've got Tactical Cloak right? Combined with Stim Packs and Shield Power Cells equipment you're basically invincible - the only thing that might take you down is multiple Possessed Captains shooting you at once but you know what solves that? Overload 4a 5a 6a.

Max fitness on the TGI?  This thread needs a b00gieman "looooooooooooooool" response, stat.

That was so 2014.

Oh, wait. If you don't shoot anything at all, then yeah, you'd need 4a+6b if you have nothing (even passives) to boost power damage. Even so, even a little gunfire plus two 4a+6a overloads will drop the barrier and put the Phantom on health, whereupon she will die with the quickness.

Overload is definitely worth it on TGI. You don't need fitness because if you get shieldgated and/or face DoT, a stimpack will fix you right up. Fitness can't help with those, but stimpacks can.

Spamming Stimpack will deplete the supply very fast. It's for extraordinary situations only, I rarely use more than 5 per game.

And that's where you're doing it wrong. Consumables are meant to be used... if you run out of them, there's always those 255 thermal packs to run back to.

You don't have to spam it. But it's there to use if you need it, and is valuable for situations like splash damage from an Atlas or someone triggering a Banshee nova, since the power halts DoT.
