Are you kidding ? 2.5 seconds is huge, this basically means that in the time you need to kill a single Ravager, you could have killed 2 with a Claymore. Reloading is very fast when you reload-cancel.
Don't forget TGI snipers! Infiltrators should use sniper rifles, right?..
TGI Snipers can probably do more DPS than you on a kit that you have specced out of grenades with.

Being a Pugger most often, I must say that I suck with

May I defend EdiBot on two points.
First, she is best with a shotgun with range. The reegar forces her too much into CQC. Claymore is good, yes, but IMHO the Crusader/HVB/piercing with Geth Scanner can't be beat. That gun will double hit bosses, gives four quick shots (when fixed), shoots through cover without loss of damage, and gives Edi full damage at all ranges, so she can stay out of danger.
Second, again IMO, Repair Matrix has negative utility. Employ it too soon, and it expires worthless; try to employ it a millisecond too late, and it won't deploy and down you go. Concentrating on exactly the right moment to deploy RM is a distraction that can get you killed. Plus, it makes Edi a grenade hog competing with teammates who can actually kill things with grenades. I spec out of RM, and play her with the normal caution to stay alive, and that works best. At least for me.
Actually the Fury is the character I see kitted out weirdly most often, most people I don't judge excessively until we've played a match, but there are some combinations that at least tempt me to consider kick vote before we've played.
On her I've seen far too many double weapon loadouts and any Fury carrying a sniper is doing it very wrong.
I don't like the idea that everyone should be going for the optimum platinum build, otherwise we should just all be AIU and Reegar, but some things work as a fun builds and others are just wrong for sensible reasons.
I don't see many Valkyries or Huntresses in public games and those I see are usually armed with puny weapons in range of Phalanx and/or Tempest. While none of those are bad weapons per se, they don't really allow the two kits to utilize their full potential and they can't deal the amount of damage they could.
Also, too many asariguards and AAs that try to use stasis on turrets and dragoons and are very surprised when it doesn't work and gets them killed. And I'm talking about players with 1k+ N7 and high CP as well.

the problem is that you're requiring a Crusader fix for this to be viable - thereby making it not viable. We should all be speaking in terms of what can be done without modding the game.

The projectile thing doesn't matter much if you don't use it at really long range. Though I swear off-host, it shoots blanks sometimes.
I don't play platinum enough to comment on that difficulty. On gold and below it's warlords, TGI's, AIU's, volus anything, and the human vanguards (especially the phoenix when I'm using him )

I played with a GI the other day who I thought was a GT because I didn't see him cloak til wave 7, and he definitely skipped Hunter Mode.
I agree with You that skipping/not using cloak on infiltraitor may be eccentric saying the least, but if it goes for no hunter mode, then this is what may have occured . I have it quiet often and avoid to play geth as such. I'm not sure if this glitch concerns console players as well though.So my point may be invalid

If I remember correctly the post that described the fix, it restored the Crusader to its original intent. Some BW programming glitch produced the long delay. I could be wrong, though.
But if you insist on an unfixed Crusader, then that makes IMO the crusader and claymore equal overall on the AIU, allowing for different pluses and minuses.
Admitting it's a mistake doesn't fix it :')
