I for the life of me cannot defeat the lightning spewing cheating knife ear! A 3 HOUR SLUG FEST AND NO LUCK!!!! ARGH!!!

My set up is thus.

Inquisitor Archer

Solus

Vivienne

Cassandra

All at level 10.

I first tried to sick Cassandra on her while me and the others cleaned house of her mooks. Starting with the 2 other Spellbinders. I got 1 and then both my mages got slaughtered, I got surrounded by a Barriered up Gladiator and we all promptly died heroically. Next I just had everyone focus on her to try and take her down as quickly as possible. Turned out worse than the previous strategy. Then I tried for everyone to go for the spellbinders and then Fiona. This seemed to making headway until everyone ganged up on Cassandra, killed her and the rest of get fed the lightning.

Has anyone got any tips?

You've already discovered the primary piece of advice, which is "ignore Fiona". Her attacks don't deal much damage compared to her adds, so focus them down first. Just stay spread out so she doesn't get the maximum value on her AoE, and she's pretty nonthreatening.

I've done it a few times, sword & shield inquisitor and dual dagger rogue.

Your party set up looks great. With two mages you should be able to rotate barriers and keep them up most of the time. You might need to set one or both to "disabled" in the tactics so you can control it manually. That should keep Cassandra in good shape.

The first thing to do is focus and kill adds. Keep Cassandra moving (you may need to control her) so she doesn't end up standing in Fiona's lightning. Pause and move out whenever you see it, because it really hurts. If you have them, Lunge and Slash and Charging Bull are great ways for a warrior to move quickly and both on 8 second cooldowns. For ground targeted AOEs, I sometimes switch to tactics mode briefly, to move multiple characters at once. Spread out! You might be able to dispel the lightning too (I can't remember for sure). Dispel can also remove the enemies barriers.

I forget which element Fiona is immune to, but swap staffs to a different element (so your mages don't get 1 damage from the auto attack).

As for the adds, ice spells are always great to control them. Or use Knockout Powder if you have it on your rogue. Cassandra might have a few attacks that knockdown and that can buy some time too (payback strike, shield bash, charging bull). And just have your rogue focus on targets.

You might find you need to spend more time controlling Cass/Solas/Viv ... I think that's unavoidable on this one, as it's a pretty hard fight.

Good luck!

Yeah, I had a harder time with the Fiona battle than the Knight-Captain Denam battle. Mostly because I was playing DW rogue and kept getting one-shotted by the fire mines. Your party composition looks really good. Cass is the main character at risk and I agree with comments above that you might have to control her for most of the battle.

If Cass keeps dying, you could assign the AI for one of the mages to Defend Cassandra and set preference on barrier. Or, as suggested above, control both mages and make sure barrier gets set as often as possible on whoever needs it.

Dispel is your friend. I spent some time controlling the mage to cast dispel, on fire mines and on Fiona's barrier. Fiona is pretty lightly armored, so concentrating ranged attacks on her when her barrier is down will drop her health quickly.

Good luck and no shame having a few party members die during the battle. It's arguably one of the toughest battles in the game.

I played this game once, on nightmare. I remember the lead up to her being really hard, with lots of troops everywhere, but I don't even remember fighting her at all beyond simply pressing her and her falling really quick. I wonder why. Is she immune to freeze and stuff? I seem to remember her not being able to get anything fired off. Was my Cassandra shield bashing her or something? I dunno. My advice is to just not allow her to attack.

Edit: Ooo, yeah. I remember. I think she turns up with a bunch of troops? I think I lead them on a merry goose chase up into the snow and disposed of them first. For some AI reason she didn't follow. She's easy on her own. It might be a bit cheaty for some, but I tend to do whatever the game will allow me to do.

I definitely wasn't level 10. Maybe 7.
