Hey everyone, I am seeking help with Dorian's romance, as I think I might have a bug or glitch.

 

I completed the "Last Resort of Good Men" quest a little while ago, and chose the flirtatious options, but I didn't receive I kiss, which I've heard is supposed to happen around then. Then I tried to begin a romance with him, with the "We Need to Talk" option (where it says "This will begin a romance with Dorian" above it), and the dialogue played normally, and gave me the confirmation option. He says some stuff, "Don't say I didn't warn you," and whatnot, and so I thought the romance had activated (I'd already gotten the achievement from a previous playthrough after romancing the Iron Bull). So, I just tried talking to him again, and its still giving me the same romance initiation options, as if I hadn't started it yet... Did I miss my window or mess something up along the way? Any help would be appreciated!

Did you get his personal romance quest at all from Leliana?

Well I remember he had other WAR TABLE missions like "A favor for Doiran", something about venetori agents and a zone mission where you have to take him along to kill three/five groups of venetori agents. Also i remember doing the Dorian's father mission which you get from talking to him a-lot and mother Gizzelle a-lot. After talking to the two a-lot Mother Gizzelle should show up with a letter to give to Dorian. Say you'll take it and give it to Dorian. give it to Dorian to get the mission to meet Dorian's father. For me my Draven character (2h human warrior) At one point I picked "Allow him to talk" or something where the father tells Dorian that he was just afraid of losing him to battle and not because he's gay. Dorian gets shocked and apologizes for assuming the meeting was to be about him being gay. At skyhold he tells you this and appreciates you taking him to reconcile with his dad. I picked the heart option which kicked in his romance.

I have the exact same problem, I didn't have the kiss option but I get the "We Need to talk" dialogue option, over & over! But the thing is I never get a message from one of Liliana's messengers (Amulet quest).

No messenger meets me in Sola's room and I even did his War Table quests that give approval rating & I did In wicked hearts quest already soo I should have high approval with him. I'm so lost :S

Wicked hearts? You probably didn't get the dancing scene then, if the romance wasn't locked. I always do the quest concerning Dorian's father as soon as I get to Skyhold and everytime I've gotten the amulet quest right after it. I also exhaust every conversation option with Dorian at Haven and flirt as much as possible, to get the approval as high as it can get at that point before travelling to Skyhold.

 

Also, there is no messenger in Solas' room; you just a get a pop-up note from Leliana...

If I confused anyone on Mother Gizzelle's whereabouts on where she gives the letter from Dorian's father it's not in Solas's room but in the main throne chamber in Skyhold with all the political people standing about. Sorry if I was unclear about that.

At the very start of that clip a messenger says "message coming through inquisitor". She's standing right in Solas's room, you can tell by the paint on the wall.

Also I sided with the Templers so I only got Dorian at Skyhold. I exhausted his conversations, didi his 2 other quests, did his war table missions that give approval & i flirted whenever I could. My problem is, when I click the option "I want to talk about us" & I pick that I want to begin a Romance with him NOTHING happens. Conversation options don't change, no quest nothing. 

Mother's Gizzelle's quest worked fine ages ago & i did it but things didn't advance from there. 

ANYWAY.. I ended up romancing Iron Bull now with out even trying hard at all...  few flirting after his Charged/Qun quest & bamn!

I've heard before that the option to start his romance after you finish his quest doesn't work. So there probably is some issue there.

Does it actually work for anybody? I've never tried it (I always start the romance during the quest).

I ran into this bug as well - I initiated a romance with him during the Mother Giselle "rumors" conversation (after finishing "Last Resort of Good Men"), and there was an initial kiss. Then, if you talk to him afterward, there's an option to "begin" a romance with Dorian, even if you already selected it. Talk to him again, and the option still appears to "begin" a romance.

 

But it turns out to be a harmless bug. I just ended up going to another zone and returning to Skyhold, and when I talked to him again all the regular romance options were there ("I want to talk with you" leading to "steal a kiss", "spend time with him", etc.), so the game recognized that we were already in a romance. Also, the next part of his romance quest, "The Magister's Birthright", started once I walked by the messenger that's hanging around Solas's room on the ground floor.

As far as the whole templar thing is I'm like hmmm. All i can say is I was able to romance him by playing the mage route with my guy that romanced him and it seems like getting his quests been easy while playing as a female inquisitor. I do have a male elf inquisitor that i do intend to have him romance Dorian but have been on the fence on which side to side with. I was tempted on siding with the templars and see where that goes. I admit atm I have been playing a female human DWK rouge on NIGHTMARE more than my elf male guy.

 

I'll get back to this subject and see if there will be an issue or not. I know for Draven it took me 25 playing hours to get Dorian's romance so it may take me about the same for my elf guy. Dunno.

Hmm, I've never had any problems with Dorian's romance but I, too, always side with the mages, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with. At least that gives you more time with him in Haven.

I'm having this same issue. I cannot get Dorian's romance to start. It keeps giving me the option to begin a romance with Dorian, over and over again. I finished Last Resort of Good Men and the Venatori quest ages ago, but no messenger ever shows up in Solas' room, and I've looked all over Val Royeaux but I don't see Ponchard anywhere.

This one's kind of weird.  Last Inq romanced Dorian and all his quests and convos fired fine.  This time I'm not, but did Champions of the Just and couldn't find him at Skyhold until I could get to the library.  I've exhausted every conversation option and still no Mother Giselle.  I'm not going to backtrack through many hours of gameplay, but is there an approval level or a different conversation to trigger the quest?  

 

Edit:  Should have tried a few more times.  After there were 2 less Venatori, the Felix convo finally triggered.  I think it was approval based, since I talked to him a few times with no options other than goodbye.

I apologize for responding to this ungodly late but it is possible to romance Dorian VIA the templar route.

 

Like how I did the mage route I did do the Dorian's father mission and had the two reconcile. When back in Skyhold I went with the heart option and it kicked off my male inquisitor's romance with Dorian. I just discovered a following mission where in Solas's room there would be a messenger giving you a letter from Liliana. You can talk to her and Dorian about it and they mention about a family ring of Dorian's being MIA but Dorian is meh about your inquisitor trying to find it. Go with the option to find it  (don;t worry about the 'Dorian disapproves'), go to Val Riyoux, there is a guy saying he can get the ring for your inquisitor and Dorian. Dorian again is meh about this but I took his option instead of killing the guy and did the WAR TABLE mission. I then went to Dorian and gave the ring to him and played it cool. Sure enough it seems like you complete his romance.
