Does the new DLC not feel Dragon Age-y to you?

I don't know, something about this DLC doesn't seem like Dragon Age to me. It could be because of all the vibrant colours and weird plant and animal life. It kind of reminds me of Avatar the movie, I'm not disappointed or anything, just something I wanted to share and see if people felt the same way.

I haven't finished it, just started it but so far the setting is really different to what I'm used to.

I miss the rocks and the dirt. DAI isn't brown enough for me.

Yea, this offline MMO is just another friggin WoW clone.

Sorry, had too.

Anyway, there are zones in the main campaign that are even more vibrant like the Emerald Graves. And since you are exploring many locations across a continent it kinda makes sense that the entire world is not a barren Mars like planet, but actually has various biomes.

Yeah, I like that it's varied, I really do actually. Just weird, like there's jungle people living on the island? Ehh..

Looks very nice to me.

There are no 'unique' environments.

Deserts, snow fields, jungles, plains etc, etc, have all be done before (of course)

I don't see why Dragon Age should have to be grimdark all the time. In my opinion Thedas has felt more alive in DAI than ever before.

Just not used to it I guess, hope it grows on me. Granted I haven't actually concentrated on the DLC since I'm waiting to get up to it on my main play through.

There was a lot of talk the devs looked at skyrim but I think it was way more closer at home namely in house EA Kingdoms of Amalur.

Except I played both and they feel nothing alike. No DA game feels like wow. I always described Inquisition as KOREAN generic mmorpg. KOREAN. And DAO feels like no MMORPG, and I doubt you played literally hundreds like me from Ragnarok Online and WoW to SWTOR, TERA and Aion. From 2003 to 2012. These picking of features you do have nothing to do with what we complain about and you keep pretending you don't know, I already posted a thousand times and will post again: RESPAWN. ACTION COMBAT. FETCH QUESTS AMOUNT (not ratio nor quality). RESPAWNING RESOURCES GATHERING FOR CRAFTING. And again RESPAWNING, focus on RESPAWNING. These features in combination are unavoidly mmorpg ****. Others you keep posting to include DAO are not, like I said a thousand times even DnD 3rd have cooldown so you can try and keep ignoring it but it is there.

1) lol @ your assumption about my MMO experience

2) a lot of what you pointed out is a result of open world and not MMOs. Many MMOs dont encourage exploration at all, such as Tera and SWTOR.

3) Only remotely relevant MMO with true action combat is Tera.

Meanwhile.

1) DAO has the same exact UI as WoW.

2) Relationships act like reputation bars as opposed to being natural

3) Player development for non-mages is linear and simplistic like most MMOs

4) Fetch quests have almost zilch context (the actual ones being Chantry/CollectiveIrregular) and are there for gold and exp much like MMOs.

...

Now it's your turn to give me some counter examples.

Then I'll give you some other counters examples.

And we will go on and on til you realize that DAi and DAO simply incorporate elements from many different sources like every modern game in existence.

The revelation!!!1!

You gave no counter exemples. I need not answer when you did not prove those things were MMO ****. Also you did not show me any of the things you said not present in other RPGs. So what exactly did you counter? Your own shadow?

But I agree on one thing, open world bullshit fit as much as MMO bullshit, that's true. I don't mind, calling a game open world, it is as much of an offense as calling it a MMO for me. If I hated someone more than anything I would call the person Skyrim not WoW. So thanks for enlightening me, I will start humilliating Inquisition by calling it open world from now on (which the devs shamelessly did, they could focus on the fact that the game is NOT true open world, by if they don't mind offending themselves... I'm ok with that)

But, again, I was kidding just now. I have never seen this third person perspective, with this combat, these style of quests and respawning enemies in a single player game (at least western ones, been a time since I don't play jRPGs) so a counter would be to show this combination in a game that is not MMO. This would be a counter.

I wish we got a proper city in the DLC instead. I've seen enough different plant colours for one game.

That's what I also wanted. I really want to go the White Spire, we've seen a lot of Ferelden I think it's time to flesh out Orlais.

That's a pile of work.

I don't disagree with you, but I think Minrathous is a more likely bet.

Anyway, after Kirkwall I think BioWare were a little stung in regards to population centres...

alive? possible but they also went quite Disney on us

To OP:

DA:I doesn't feel like Dragon Age so why should the DLC be any different?

Dragon Age has an identity crisis, Bioware keeps changing the look and tone of the game. Take the Qunari as an example.

I know it would be haha, I can hope I guess. Also yeah they seem to be so over cities since DAI has so many outdoor areas now, they've kinda over done it. They need to find a balance, people weren't complaining about Kirkwall itself, but the amount of maps they reused, I actually love Kirkwall and wouldn't mind visiting it again in DLC form or something.

What I loved about the Dragon Age Origins setting was the amount of diverse cities we could explore such as Denerim, Redcliffe, Orzammar, Amaranthine, etc. They were all very unique and made you learn so much about the lore of the other races and the history of the area. There was also a balance of outdoor exploration like the Brecillian Forest, which was such an awesome place with a lot of knowledge.

I was hoping that DAI would go this route but it seems they took exploration to an extreme level, to the point of over using it. We have so many outdoor areas and only one city, Val Royeaux.

I agree, parts of the game really do not at all. I feel like they moved the game into a different direction to allow more people to play it, hence it being Game of the Year and making EAware so much money. But because they've done this they've risked making the core fans, the people who have been playing Dragon Age from the beginning and have supported the devs through everything, very upset.

Honestly, I'm upset that they haven't listened to what we need patched into the game still. Seriously, I love this series so much, Origins is my favourite game of all time.

We wanted the auto attack to function as it did in the past games, so right click the enemy and auto attack, It feels half finished since we can't do that. We still need to click on the enemy and then press the auto attack assigned button. It's clunky and unneeded.

We also need the tool tip to come up on the power bar, but because they focussed heavily on consoles and controllers they couldn't add it in the game, something which is a core feature in RPGs.

Finally something I've been tirelessly asking for is to be able to zoom in while in combat, I hate how it zooms out automatically and doesn't allow you to zoom back in, again something so simple that could be patched.

Sorry for the longer then intended post but you can't help but feel betrayed from Bioware, I've spent so much money on their merchandise (I have almost everything) to support them that I can't help but feel upset that they are not listening to simple features that should be patched in to make the gaming experience that much better for a diehard fan. I really hope one of the devs reads this and takes some of what I'm saying into consideration.

Inquisition as a whole does not "feel" like what we're used to receiving from Dragon Age, aesthetically speaking. I don't see why the DLC would be any different.

And, as far as I'm concerned, that is for the best. All previous DA iterations have, on a visual level, disappointed me to no end.

To be honest i always try to avoid cities in Inquisition. All the NPC is talking as if they where right beside my ear. Until they fix that i dont want crowded places. But they wont. Coz if their is a problem with a bioware game they remove it coz they dont have money to fix. BIG SMILE

It is a new slant on DA games the way they are drip feeding you the information as a prize for completing a quest is new and rather interesting.

At the risk of drawing  the MMO comparison it reminds me of the Un'Goro Crater in WoW even down to the Dinosaurs.

There's no need to trash DAO dude.

As someone who started on Bioware's BG and has greatly enjoyed every Bioware RPG until DAI arrived, there is every reason to criticise DAI for it's shortcomings in many departments. But what do I know apart from having shelled out nearly 70 bucks for a game I played and came close to hating
