I don't care if 99.99999% of all people knew about it. I didn't know about it. If my version was inferior to other copies of the exact same game, I would have liked to know.

It's not inferior (unless you went last gen in which case it IS last gen and there will be drawbacks), it just gets the content a short time later.

Same as mass effect. We're used to it, and ea isn't going to turn down a truckload of money because you're impatient.

Honestly a big part of the reason I don't mind even if I do pick it up is that they'll be working out bugs on the other systems, like the sky issues and crashes in me3 with the dlc, so when it hits my ps4 it'll be that much more functional.

I'm much more concerned with the lack of story content then a 30-60 days of waiting. That isn't exactly a long time.

At the OP I think the timed DLC is stupid but I don't think immoral or illegal.

Bottem line is what they did is wrong. I will never spend another penny on company who does it and I am not alone

Sorry dude but every company does it now. Necessary evil of the industry. Even From software does it... And I sure as hell wouldn't pass on those titles out of immature spite.

What I wonder is, has anyone actually went out and purchased an X1 just to play Jaws Of Hakkon or even bought a 360 to play Skyrim DLC when it hit Xbox first?

I will admit, that was a good one...   :D

On topic:

I'd be surprised if the DLC generated any specific sales, but someone who was planning to get a console to play DAI at some point might be tipped over by this. More about the general PR around Xbox One in my opinion.

So the OP thinks timed exclusive DLC is immoral and illegal, and then goes on to say that even when it's released on their system, they still won't buy it because they don't have the self-control to avoid spoilers? That's like an addict getting mad at his supplier for selling him drugs after the addict heard about the drugs from another addict.

"Nah man I can't have that now! Anton from down the block already told me what the high was like!"

Lol, now THAT makes sense. From what I've read and seen, you're not missing out on much with Jaws Of Hakkon DLC being a timed exclusive. You'd probably get more for your money inviting your girlfriend over and using that $15 to order some chinese food or something.

Well, my copy of Skyrim on my PS3 was a gift.  After my PS3 broke, I eventually made the switch to PC gaming and one of my first game purchases on Steam was Skyrim so I could experience the DLC's (and mods).  So, I guess in an odd way it worked?

That makes sense just to experience the awesome mods. Plus you upgraded to PC which is a step up from consoles. If anything, gamers would be better off if devs made DLC's timed exclusives for PC's. On the other hand, there is always be money to be made from impatient gamers who have to play Day One I guess. I can't see myself buying a console just to played timed exclusive DLC.

They have X+Y I have X-Y. How is that not different?

X can't have two separate values, dude. Here's some algebra that makes sense:

If X = Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Y = Jaws of Hakkon, then right now, you have just X. People with Xbox Ones and PCs have X+Y. You are correct that X<X+Y, but both you and they still have X.

Yup, also hate this.

Would super hate this if it was content I actually cared about. I'm only mildly bothered at the moment, because I don't plan on buying this DLC anyway.

If it was post game DLC, I'd be pissed. The chances are someone would spoil it for me before I got a chance to play.

They have X+Y.

You have X.

But most importantly, what they have is irrelevant. If you're in a park somewhere, and I show up and sell a sandwich to another guy in the park, you know what happened to you?

Nothing did. You chose to be in the park without being sold a sandwich, and you're still in the park having not been sold a sandwich. Your circumstances haven't changed at all. But apparently you'd be happier if I hadn't sold a sandwich to anyone.

If this DLC were not a timed exclusive, and instead just came out for everyone at the later date, no one's life is improved by that. Why would you support an option that makes people's lives worse? That's just malicious.

PS3, PS4 and 360 users bought X just the same as PC and Xbone users. If they all paid for the same copy of X wouldn't it be logical that they would all have access to Y at the same time? If you say anything other then yes you're either an idiot or probably retarded. Good day.

That's cute in all, but unless you can match Microsoft's offer, the company is unlikely to leave millions of dollars on the table to save some players a 30-60 day wait.

It's business, annoying at times but pretty basic stuff.

You say "natural" like it means something. And really, if you're not going to even try to respond to the arguments others make, you shouldn't start slinging around terms like "idiot."

Well, I gotta give you points for still trying. What meaning of "natural" were you attempting to use there?

Anyway, you've changed it from natural to logical. But that still doesn't work. It's logical for Bio to sell products in whatever fashion makes the most money for them. If MS wants to pay for an exclusive, what's illogical about Bio taking the money?

Natural is a synonym for ordinary, logical, regular, typical or usual. I'm sure you must know the meaning of at least one of these words.

What are you talking about? They paid for X. They got X. Everyone who paid the seller's price got the same thing.

And the same is true for Y. If you bought Y, you got Y.

No seller is under an obligation to make his product available to all possible buyers, or at the same price. I can sell you an apple for $1 and another guy an identical apple for $10 as long as I cam keep you from reselling your apple. This is exactly how the same digital product gets sold in different markets for different prices in different currencies.

Unless you're willing to go all the way down this rabbit hole and decry the entire concept of voluntary exchange (where a sale only happens if both parties agree to the terms), there's no way for your position to make sense.

I cannot be required to sell my product without my consent without basically eliminating the concept of private property.

Logical means "of or pertaining to logic".

It isn't synonymous with any of those other words.

Its fine to have exclusive games and exclusive content bundled with games. Timed exclusives of FULL games are also fine. BUT when you sell a game on multiple platforms its reasonable to assume that any and ALL DLC would be released at the same TIME and on the same platforms as the game was. Its immoral to only release content to a select group of people when everyone paid for the full game and everyone should be treated equal. This is actually a form of "bait and switch" and if this was any other industry it would probably be illegal.

Immoral?

Huh..  I guess I have a slightly differing idea on morality then.  Some platforms, such as the one I play on, are not as easy to update as others.  The PC version would most likely be the easiest one to update, my own platform probably more difficult by far.  Their are other considerations as well, business agreements with other companies like Sony or Microsoft who make such platforms do have restrictions in them that do affect how such updates are released.

I see nothing "immoral" about the folks at Bioware releasing updates for platforms like the PC when they are available, and then hopefully they will get an update out for my own system as well at some point.  But I don't think it's necessary for them to hold off releasing the PC updates, or the Xbox updates, until such time as they can complete the updates for my system.  Let the folks that play on the PC or the Xbox enjoy the updated content, no need to make them wait just so I won't feel slighted somehow.

Honestly, thats.. well, silly.
