When do you get it? I could've sworn he came equipped with it. However, in my most recent new character save a bit after getting him to join I noticed I don't have it at all. I will be pissed if I have to go back to that save. 
I can't have sold it I always save templar and warden helmets until I get the schematic. Did I miss something or is this a patch glitch?

I think this happened to me. Apparently, if you don't immediately put him into your party upon meeting him, he never gets his initial equipment.

Damn, that's exactly what I did! That's ridiculous. Ehh too lazy to start from back there hopefully they'll have a schematic for it in the future then.

Yes. This. And it's a stupid bug, in my book.
Happened in my second playthrough. I actually dumped an hours worth of progress to reload, go back and get it. Pedant that I am.

haha I caved and dumped 10 hrs worth of progress. I had finished all of the hinterlands and the fallow mire and was already at Skyhold. I couldn't shake the fact that I missed that stupid helmet and went back. SMH

I never realized that this was the reason why the helmet doesn't appear. This happened to me once, and I was frustrated but knew I never sold the stupid thing. No way was I going back to equip the helmet on a guy I barely took anywhere though.

Bu..Buttt... It's just not the same. It will have that yellow background and I'll always remember that I created it and it will haunt me that I never got the original. I always keep Solas's, Cassandra's and Varric's original outfits because they say Cassandra only, etc. I keep Vivienne's too even though hers isn't exclusive to her. Royal sea silk is just too damn hard to find at the beginning.

I believe you can buy both of Blackwall's helmets from that shop. the griffin helmet and knight helmet.

Wait he gets a second helmet later? Pray tell how does one obtain this second helmet? I did his personal quests, I didn't get anything. Is it something similar looking like Cole and his farmer's hats and Vivienne's "Rita Repulsa" head wear?
