Hey guys.

I've never been disrespectful, cruel or mean to people here. I've also never harassed anyone. I always used common sense and manners on internet forums for the last 20 years and I've never been banned on a forum before in over 20 years of using the internet. Despite this I have 4 warnings due to overzealous / oversensitive mods. Example: Quoted someone who posted a pic that the mods found offensive to reply to them, and the mods ended up giving me a warning as well! (made no sense) :P

I still have my 4 warnings after all this time but they don't seem to decay?

1: Is there no decay system to warnings? Are they permanent?
2: What happens if I should reach 5 or 10 warnings?

The reason I'm asking other than being curious is that I'm almost afraid to press "post" every time I make a topic or post in case the mods are standing ready looking for an excuse to warn/ban me again.

1: I have no idea. I don't think so.
2: I have no idea. All I can tell is that I have 11 warnings :P

Getting permanently banned seems to depend on if you accrue of a lot of warnings in a short time.

And mod randonmess.

The moderator can choose to expire the points after a certain amount of time but I'm not sure how often they do. And there are currently no thresholds although I would be surprised to see someone with 100 still be allowed to post. :)

Is there a way to ask for this (expiration) to happen?

You would have to message a moderator.

Also, keep in mind that responding to a troll/spammer and taking part in conversation with them can very well lead to you getting in trouble too. Report and ignore, best way to go about it.

I've got 0 warnings and I intend to keep it that way. I've also never intended to cause trouble on the forums nor have I ever intentionally attempted to get in trouble, though years ago on the older forums I still managed to get a warning or temp suspension here and there. Some were definitely a case of oversensitivity, others were absolutely a fault of my own. But experience can lead to the wisdom and knowledge of how to operate on the forum going forward, hence the clean record.

Same goes for everyone. Know the rules and the tricks of the trade and you'll have a fantastic experience without ever flirting with getting in trouble. I've seen several people since the reset get permanently banned from the forum for their behavior;ensure you're not one of them.

I did just that and never got a reply. :)

It's weird though. I've been active in forums for almost 20 years and never got into any trouble. Three months posting in the DA:I forums and suddendly I have 3 warning points, got suspended and I still have no idea what I even did wrong.

This requires testing.

Jesse, can you give me 100 warning points and say "herp-a-derp" in the respctive moderation comment (I'm sure there's such a thing for moderators to check, something like an infraction history or the likes), maybe give my a special tag beneath my avatar that says "Troublemaker, do not feed!"?

For science!

Hah, science only happens on our test board and that is behind the firewall. :)

And we (moderators/administrators) can see any previous warnings as well as notes about given to a user.

I am intrigued. Do you have some sort of profiling squad for users? I'd like to know more!

I wouldn't call it a profiling squad. We use the notes to see keep track of how we've interacted with users in the past along with some details on what they did to warrant a suspension or warning. Someone who is consistently a problem will be handled differently compared to a first time offender. Since there are a number of different moderators the notes are used to communicate what was done.

There isn't really any written process I can share as we rely on the discretion of the moderator. But they base their actions on the forum rules and philosophy.

Aye. I've incidentally made mistakes in the past that I should've known better of(mistakes happen). New folks would get a pass as they wouldn't know better, vets on the other hand bear the warnings/suspensions. Flip side, someone known for being good can get a pass where someone else without a reputation might not.

I recall a particular time when I was so excited for a ME2 trailer release that I forgot expletives weren't allowed on the board and I posted a full capitals "FORNICATION!" in four letters. :P

Got insta-suspended, messaged Priestly, he gave me a pass, and bonked me on the head(metaphorically) reminding me to be careful. hahaha
