Hey guys.

I've never been disrespectful, cruel or mean to people here. I've also never harassed anyone. I always used common sense and manners on internet forums for the last 20 years and I've never been banned on a forum before in over 20 years of using the internet. Despite this I have 4 warnings due to overzealous / oversensitive mods. Example: Quoted someone who posted a pic that the mods found offensive to reply to them, and the mods ended up giving me a warning as well! (made no sense) :P

I still have my 4 warnings after all this time but they don't seem to decay?

1: Is there no decay system to warnings? Are they permanent?
2: What happens if I should reach 5 or 10 warnings?

The reason I'm asking other than being curious is that I'm almost afraid to press "post" every time I make a topic or post in case the mods are standing ready looking for an excuse to warn/ban me again.

The moderator can choose to expire the points after a certain amount of time but I'm not sure how often they do. And there are currently no thresholds although I would be surprised to see someone with 100 still be allowed to post. :)

You would have to message a moderator.

Hah, science only happens on our test board and that is behind the firewall. :)

And we (moderators/administrators) can see any previous warnings as well as notes about given to a user.

I wouldn't call it a profiling squad. We use the notes to see keep track of how we've interacted with users in the past along with some details on what they did to warrant a suspension or warning. Someone who is consistently a problem will be handled differently compared to a first time offender. Since there are a number of different moderators the notes are used to communicate what was done.

There isn't really any written process I can share as we rely on the discretion of the moderator. But they base their actions on the forum rules and philosophy.
