I don't mean to be rude, but is English not your first language? Because I've explained my argument multiple times, and you haven't actually countered me. I'm not claiming to be psychic, obviously. I'm only going off of information you have typed. Which I assume came from your head. And I can only infer one conclusion from your statement. You have yet to counter that conclusion. Feel free to do so.
you jump to conclusions and are eager to accuse others...
if you didn't know - if someone is an ageist s/he must actually discriminate someone. Cole has no right nor claim to be in my inquisition therefor if I don't pick him for whatever reason (even if I didn't like his eyebrow) it doesn't make me ageist. I don't like that character and I don't care if he's 20000 years old (or whatever), his appearance strikes me as a child and that's it

How is calling you ageist when you said you didn't recruit Cole because of his age "jumping to conclusions? You said it outright. And at the end of your paragraph you admit it again. I really don't get you. And you are discriminating. You won't recruit him based on his perceived age. That's discrimination. In fact, you're now moving into the territory of discriminating based on appearance. No, I'm not jumping to conclusions - these are your words: "his appearance strikes me as a child and that's it".
I suppose explaining that a spirit or demon's appearance is totally irrelevant would be pointless with you though.

you clearly don't know what discriminating means...
by your logic if you're heterosexual and refuse to have sex with the same gender you're discriminating them (and should be called sexist). So in your case I suggest to think twice before you write something

LMAO.
I'm sorry.. but I find it ironic and hypocritical that you accuse these characters of being childish, yet some of the stuff I've been seeing you post here is exactly that; childish.
This is almost as bad as when you accused people of being pedos and predators over in that other thread.. Seriously?
Do you really think BioWare would intend to convey a message of taking children into battle, or encourage predatory/pedophile behaviour, if your subjective opinion actually held any merit?
Sure, Cole is pretty basic. This is because he is a spirit, and all kinds of messed up. I'm sorry that BW didn't create a character to live up to your standards of so-called "adult behaviour" and "maturity".

well I wonder, your post has nothing to do with anything discussed in this thread so hmm
1) I said that Cole looks like a child to me so I am not taking him into battle (I didn't say anything about other players)
2) someone take it as an offense to his/her person cos s/he sees Cole as an adult (how is that relevant?)
3) you come up and brag about other thread when you take something I said out of context and try to prove your point. Wait, you don't have a point sooo...
4) instead maybe you should go find out what childish means

1. This is fine. You play however you want.
2. I don't think that person was offended because they see Cole as an adult.. it was the way you conveyed the message, and little comments such as "he's a boy". Perhaps this wasn't your intention..
3. How is that taken out of context? If I could be bothered, I'd copy and paste the post in that thread. You said along the lines of, "If anybody romances Sera they must be a pedo or a predator something something banging my mother's niece". ![]()
4. I don't need to find out. It's in front of me.

I don't understand why him looking young has anything to do with his actual age, or combat effectiveness, etc. If Cassandra looked like a teenager, but was still 30-something, would you refuse to take her with you?

Posté 28 mars 2015 - 09:40
yes I would refuse her, this is no Narnia, as I said earlier there is no place for kids in my inquisition. Besides Cole is a spirit and if there was choice to banish him (exorcist or whatever the word for "killing" spirits is) I would. Spirits should rest in piece and not roam the land killing people and mess with their heads. That sounds like a demon to me.

If there's "no place for kids in [your] Inquisition," then why do you recruit Sera?

Alright everyone, there you have it. The OP admitted that they would not let Cassandra fight if she looked young, even if she was still over 30. Therefore, the OP discriminated based on appearance.

I can understand why someone is feeling unconfortable with the notion of children or teens fighting and therefore is not recruiting characters that appear child-like to them.

I understand being uncomfortable with actual children fighting, but not just because someone looks young. I mean, The Warden is only 18-20 years old.

again, you don't know the meaning of the word discriminating so before you accuse someone, go study it. Altho I wonder if there was 1000 years old spirit looking like 6 years old girl, would you still recruit her? I mean children soldiers must look so appealing to you, they only eat little, no need to pay them (maybe in marbles) and they obey!

Well it doesn't matter if they actually are children, as long as it looks like a child fighting it can make someone unconfortable. Which is something that I think is very understandable. Thus accusations of ageism are quite uncalled for.

Kinda weird that Sera's recruitment is available for so long. I mean, isn't Skyhold acquired something like weeks after that arrow with the note was fired at you in Val Royeaux?

well my ques is that they would like to make a great real life inquisitors - "I am smelling sin nearby, time to burn someone alive" - and since they can't do it in RL (without consequences) they do it anonymously on the forum

..or months, the time lapses in the game create all sort of weirdness.

I disagree. I think it was more called-for than usual. I mean, usually you have someone who you think is prejudicial, but you're not sure. This time, we were lucky enough for them to admit it.

1. the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things,
especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.
You said you wouldn't recruit Cole because he looked young. How exactly does that not align with the above definition? In fact, you went on further to say you wouldn't recruit him because of his perceived age, which makes you ignorant as well as ageist.
Would I recruit an old spirit who took the form of a small child? That depends on a lot, but not on its appearance. That's my point. On the contrary, child-soldiers are repulsive to me, but once again, you're confusing spirits for children, when they are very different. Likewise, you're being internally inconsistent by describing said spirit as having the personality of a child. This would not be true. They would not simply obey. And seriously, spirits don't eat. Do you even understand what a spirit in DA is?
