In Dragon Age 1 and 2 there were several dialogue trigger points. Like in DA1 banter always happened whenever I entered the Dalish Camp in the Brecilian Forest and I think between the Paragon Statues in the Frostbacks before Orzammar. In DA 2, banter occurs usually when exiting darktown or when you enter the wounded coast.

I can't find any trigger spots in DA:I. Sometimes I'll be walking around a map forever and I'll randomly get one, it's never at a specific landmark either usually like when I'm climbing and stuff. I try to return to those spots but nothing. Are there any spots to help trigger dialogue/banter?

I don't believe there is one in this game.

Boo, I guess I'll have to spend the time farming elfroot and crap for hours just to get certain dialogues to trigger. /sigh

I just run around for a godly amount of time in hopes of getting some banter. Most times it doesn't work but I do get some fine materials.

No trigger points.

Banter happens on a timer I think.

Or doesn't happen cuz I rarely hear any.

It's weird sometimes I get banter every 10-15 minutes, other times I can wander a whole zone and maybe if I am lucky get one or 2 and I would have been there a couple of hours. This could be same zone different play through as well so I think it's completely random.

Every 15 minute, a banter will trigger. I usually leave my game on, while I'm working on something else.

Banter is on a random timer in Inquisition.

In most of the exploration areas (not the Western Approach, in most cases), banter should fire at least every 30 minutes (there is some randomness to it with the latest patches, but not as much as there used to be). There are a number of constraints (you can't be in combat, you can't be on horseback, etc.), but they shouldn't have too much impact.

Environmental comments count as banter (they're on the same timer), and the timer restarts if you load a saved game (so if you save/load in an area, you have to wait another ~30 minutes).

Does anyone know if you somehow get through all of a character's banter if they eventualy start to repeat it? I would rather that than silence.

It really frustrates me that banter is so far between in this game. I remember walking over and over the bridge at Lothering to get everyone to talk.

There are some places that make your characters comment though. Like if you have Solas and visit that elven temple in the emerald greens and the like. Or whenever you see a dragon with Bull..

But yeah I'll always want more banter. They could be talking constantly and I'd be more than happy lol

Due to having had no banter at all for chunks of my gameplay, and then really inconsistent banter for the rest... I kinda really hope they can manage to bring back the trigger points in future games. I get that its probably harder in the new open, less linear levels, but. Maybe putting them at choke points, or near landmarks? Along roads? I dunno. I vastly preferred the old way of doing it to this system, though. :V Especially when so much of the banter is so great, makes it all the worse running around, unable to experience it! XD
