It's called "Jaws of Hakkon". The base story is that 800 years ago the last inquisitor hunted a great dragon. Your search leads to the new area, Frostback basin, where you must fight the cult known as Jaws of Hakkon and finish what the last inquisitor has started.

New features in the dlc:

One new area to explore, which has multiple environment

New weapons and gears.

New npcs

More lore

New main and side quests

It's currently $14.99 USD and available for PC and XB1 only.

So, will you be getting it? If you already have it, what's your opinion?

I'd like to get it because it's more content for the game, but I don't think it's worth the price.

Not sure why it was not 10. It had a few new schematics, and weapons, but very little character interacion which is what most people want. Character interaction is why Mass Effect fans liked the Citadel DLC so much.

No don't think i'll be getting it. I want heavily focused story content DLC rather than more of the same filler if i'm going to invest more money in DAI.

I plan on waiting to purchase it, at least until there's another DLC that really interests me.  At this point, I'm in no rush to buy it from what I've heard of its content.  It will be new to me no matter when I play it.  One reason for the wait is that I don't wish to play the game unmodded for what the DLC offers, *shrugs*.  I can wait, and perhaps play something else.

Don't expect anything related to the main story. You don't get any of that.

But you do get an extremely well made and exiting map to explore. I think it's the best map yet. You get all dizzy by all the details and hypnotized by its beauty.

You get more chat with scout Harding.
A bit more party banter (Sera and Iron Bull should be mentioned)
A new ability (very useful indeed).

New T4 crafting materials. One of them is pretty interesting at the Tint Table.
T4 chematics you might find very useful. And some T3 i bet you will be glad finally showed up in the game.

A bunch of unique weapons/rings/belts/amulets.
New background and lore on the Avaar.
Some real challenges as your enemies level with you. Would you like five pride demons at the same time?
There are some good quests.

The very best is:

There is no Requisition Officer to pester you!

I wasn't the only one who wanted to slug them with their constant "Inquisitor, if you have a moment" and "This might interest you, ser" banter? Stop taking advantage of me!

From what I hear I don't intend to buy the DLC. For $15 I'd expect a ton of content; especially character interactions/development. This DLC sounds primarily combat-based.

Well, all of that does sound nice :P, but I'm still going to wait.  I haven't decided if I want to wait until either it's discounted or until Black Emporium is released in May (and that depends on what BE includes, because I'll admit that customization and aesthetics has a large impact on how much I enjoy RPGs).

Yeah. I mean, since people are saying that it's basically another map with a few extra story bits, I just don't see how it's worth 1/4 of the full game's price. Maybe if it had more new armor designs than just that one I've seen people mention, I wouldn't be so unsure about it.

.
What this DLC gets you - which is rather important to me at last - is the option to do something else than just persue the main story. This DLC is not about collecting herbs, metals and cloth. It's a relaxing weekend away from the steam in Skyhold.

I can assure you the map is extremely well made. They must have used thousands of hours to finish it. It's so detailled and intense.

Take the Emerald Graves a triple the beauty and details. You will probably not see more fantastic lightning effects than this has.

Take a peep at one of the first panorama's you meet:

Already got it. It's enjoyable, and is a large area to explore, but I would have preferred something that added more to the main story and more companion interaction rather than another map to explore. I haven't even explored all the areas that are in the game completely!
It's a very pretty area, you learn more about the Avvar, you get some new enemies, you get some nice equipment and you get some challenging fights.
I do think the price is a tad too high, I'll be very hesitant about getting future DLCs if they'll all be priced like this.

How do you unlock/add this ability??

It's part of the main quest for the area and it's part of the inquisitor's tree.

I was very pleasantly surprised when it unlocked.

One of the main quests will take you to it. It will unlock when you reach the point. It's not hard to get as such. But must admit this ability is extremely handy in combat.

I won't tell you what it is. It would spoil the surprise.

Bought it, finished it, and I loved every bit of it. Not regretting the price it cost, it definitely was great, with a nice story, nice lore pieces, great NPCs, pretty good items, and overall awesome area.

When I heard what the main gist of the content would be I admit I wasn't all that interested, but I bought it any way, new content right?

I am glad I did, hours of content, tons of quests, beautiful zone a cross between Emerald graves and Exalted plains I thought. Have to agree the new ability is very useful and you get a few...interesting agents if you so choose. Definitely worth it imo.

It would have been better if it had some more party interaction, and some romance banter. One of the few good things about the Mark of the Assassin DLC was the romance banter--Merrill's romance banter was quite funny. It adds a lot to the DLC...

I played it with a Cullen romancer, there was banter reflecting that from Dorian. Only had one pt so far so can't say if there was any more.

Was it banter specific to the dlc, or was it the normal banter that happens in the vanilla game?

It was specific to the DLC

Spoiler
I don't recall any banter concerning Cullen in the Vanilla game, at least I have never had any.

Maybe certain companions are needed to fire the LI related banter or there is only advisor LI banter as they cant accompany you whereas if your LI is a companion they can.

It is about $25 in Aussie dollars I believe I saw? I will probably wait a few years until they release the entire GotY Edition with ALL the DLC included for the price of the original DLC! A tactic that has worked for me in the past, and it usually comes (almost) completely patched! I don't have to be the first to play any game...

-- The Roc

P.S. DA:I was the very first game I have ever pre-ordered and well, I feel pretty disappointed for the effort and should have left it until the GotY Edition of which I spoke... :/

Ok, stupid question. This area is down in southern Fereldan, where it is colder than up north. So why is there lush green vegetation?

Same reason the Arbor Wilds is a jungle--'cos it's prettier.
