Gaspard seemed...less tactical...less ambitious. We probably won't see any of the three TME players again, true.
You'll miss your Gaspard and I'll miss my Briala.
Though, tbh, I already went through that mourning period. In the game, I have a hard time seeing any of them as the people I got to know in the book. I can with Michel, but he also had the least screen time out of the three so that's probably part of the reason. The others just weren't the same for me.
He didn't even really come off as a war hawk.
Time was he dreamed of seeing Orlais made whole again and yet he never once even mentioned it.
My dear though it's a common occurrence however sad it is.
Example did you ever read any of the old LOTR books and then compare the characters to their movie counterparts?

Hmm. I remember him talking about wanting to restore Orlais to her former glory, but it was after I took on an accusatory tone with him about his expansionist mentality. Maybe he'll only mention it if he's defending himself against criticism?
Yes, though that might not be the best example for me. I was mostly happy with the casting for LOTR.
Mostly. While I enjoyed Eowyn's performance, she wasn't really how I pictured her. What choices bothered you?

He wanted to obliterate the foreign influence on his land.
The Dalish, The Nevarrans, Tevinter, He saw the threat on the horizon for incursion.
Expansionism is all well and good but it is better to simply see the threat and move against it, preemptive invasion to stave off invasion so to speak.
And Aragorn, Elrond, And Legolas were completely different in the movie trilogy.

The Dalish are a threat? We're talking about the same people, right? Fragmented nomadic clans primarily focused on avoiding human civilization and hunting for lost relics of a forgotten age? Hobbies include tending to delicate little deer-like creatures and once and a while being slaughtered by a protagonist who may or may not have actually intended to?
Elrond and Legolas I understand, but Aragorn's perfect. ![]()
And to make this at least vaguely on topic, we'll probably never see Ariane or Finn again. ![]()

The Dalish,
To quote that one dwarf from Skyhold: that mighty standing army of Dalish elves from the land they DON'T have?

Seneschal Varel, the Warden-Commander's right hand man in Vigil's Keep will definitely never be seen again (RIP Robin Sachs). And for that, I an deeply saddened.

If you complete Golems of Amgarrak, Garevel is the new Seneschal, according to a codex readable in the beginning of the DLC, Varel did not survive the attack on the Vigil. In fact, if you choose to save the Keep, instead of Amaranthine, you can see it first hand.
As far as memorial choices in the DA Keep...
Berwick, the Blood Mage in the Circle tower, Caladrius and Ser Cauthrien, in DA:O
Velanna in DA:A
Just a few NPC's who could have been directly killed/spared by the PC. It may have been nice to see one or two after they were spared as a small shout out. In that, I think, the DA Keep handles DA:2 better than O. On the whole, I think, the ME series did a better job with implementation.

Corypheus. Hes definitely not dead, but back in the fade.
While I would personally approve since I feel Corypheus should've been developed more in Inquisition, nope. he's dead.

Athenril. She was a looker.
Emile de Launcet. Should have been a love interest.

No, he's definitely dead. If he weren't dead, that would mean he can't be killed, period, and that's a very dangerous place for a narrative to go. We might as well concede defeat and start worshipping Lord Corypheus.
I know, right? Is Corypheus the darkspawn equivalent of Freddy Kruger, and you just seem to destroy him, and suddenly you realize that your pleasant ride into the sunset was actually just a lead-in to the new dream and straight back into his knife-y kill glove?

Indeed.they still act like they have some sort of right to be walking around sovereign lands
Them being a minute threat doesn't negate their being a neutral hostile at best.

Maybe Zevran?
He'd better show up in DA4. I feel so sorry for the people who romanced him. In Awakening, a letter that might not even show up, a buggy cameo appearance in DA2 and he doesn't appear at all in DAI, (while the other three romances all have (potentially) prominent roles). I'd say the only solace those guys get is he's meant to be off with the HoF for their Calling adventure.
I think his chances are actually alright. I think it was Mike Laidlaw who recently said he's one of his favourite characters.Bann Teagan.

Meanwhile, I'm actually kind of envious of them for the whole 'only LI who actually decided to stick with the Warden for this important, potentially life-saving quest' thing. Not gonna lie. Kinda wish Leliana did the same at times...

If it makes you feel any better I'm sure Gaspard is on this list too.
We will never run into the true emperor again.
I'm reminded of the first time I told his marshal they had actually won and how odd it seemed to him, that this game of blood, intrigue and shadow had finally been won.
o.o perhaps he will pop up off screen in future installments at best.
I do think will have a cameo of Orlais ruler and the Divine in DA4. But if not, we'll here about them. No doubt.

I'm confused why Oghren is on this list.
I have a feeling we'll never see Zevran again, which makes me a little sad, but there's no Keep-related reason for me to feel that way.
Oghren can possibly die when you save Amaranthine, not have him as a friend and did not upgrade Vigil's Keep. That's why he's on the list, as there is no choice in the Keep on wether he died or not.

Bann Teagan.
I wouldn't return in his place as well. Why would I want to live in a Redcliffe that suddenly moved up the mountain and in a castle that lost it's bridge and internal layout over the years? Redcliffe is surely a strange place with its sudden unexplained landscape changes.
The Dalish are a threat? We're talking about the same people, right? Fragmented nomadic clans primarily focused on avoiding human civilization and hunting for lost relics of a forgotten age? Ariane and Finn should return for a "Wolf Hunt" DLC.
If you complete Golems of Amgarrak, Garevel is the new Seneschal, according to a codex readable in the beginning of the DLC, Varel did not survive the attack on the Vigil. In fact, if you choose to save the Keep, instead of Amaranthine, you can see it first hand.

I totally agree with you on those characters! Wasn't even aware anyone else cared for that Blood Mage in the circle tower you could spare. I liked her even though she just appeared shortly. Blood Mages were the "evil mages" throughout the game and she was one of the characters to show a different side to them.
I already forgot about Cauthrien. She was definitely an improtant character they didn't mention at all.

Riordan and Duncan. We never found Dunc's body and Riordan was just pretending to be dead until the Darkspawn left.
Nope, not dead.
I refuse to believe otherwise.
