What's the problem with badges anyway? I really don't get the point.

I think it's fair to have a prize for an achievement and that is the badge, banner or title. I don't mind if someone shows up in a lobby without it, I look at the level of the char mainly. If the other people kick a player just because of that I think it's stupid and that it's better for the new player, so that he/she can find a lobby with people that are willing to play seriuosly (meaning having fun) and helping also the new one.

We all were players with low level characters and no badge/banner/title, so I really don't see the point of all the big "let's kick who doesn't have a banner" or "I don't want to see them" story.

You want to play, just play and find people who think the same!

I agree with you, in-game badges and banners are nice to have.

MEMP's 'Best of the Best' was a little full of itself but the DAI in game banners are mostly quite stylish.
