Did anyone get this ending with Cassandra as Divine in the section of the epilogue where it talks about a new fraction emerging with her reforms going too far: "for the first time in history, the Chantry is at war with itself?" I can't find it on the Wiki of all possible divine endings in the epilogue, making me think that the Wiki is not comprehensive.

Cassandra became divine in my canon game (the seekers weren't recreated). The Wiki only has these two options:

Despite her popularity, the new Divine's reforms are seen by some as going too far.

Cassandra told to give up on Seekers

A new sect arises, demanding a return to the status quo on threat of war.

With the Inquisitor's assistance, negotiations end peacefully, and few concessions are made.

Strength and unity within the Chantry are restored in the months following.

A golden age - if it can last.

Cassandra told to rebuild the Seekers or make the decision herself

A new sect arises, demanding a return to the status quo on threat of war.

The new Seekers prove their mettle by being instrumental in defeating this sect and restoring the peace.

So based on the criteria of the seekers, I should have the first one. However, it looks like I made a boo-boo in the game and got a "sub-optimal" ending that isn't in the Wiki (but that's ok, I like chaos and don't necessary need the "best" ending). Instead my epilogue slide about the sect that emerges with Cassandra as Divine said this (I forget the exact wording, but this is basically the gist of it):

A new sect arises, demanding a return to the status quo on threat of war.

*something bad, blades, Cassandra can't stop it,  blah, blah*

For the first time in history, the Chantry is at war with itself"

So I'm wondering if anyone else got this and why I got this ending? (Not that I mind -- it actually makes sense). Note that the inquisition doesn't help in this instance, which is probably because I was playing along as the Hearald of Andraste even though privately my Inquisitor told companions that she doesn't believe in the Maker. (She never told this to Cassandra but at the end of the game I picked the epic "I don't believe in Gods" option to Corypheus and even though I didn't have Cassandra in the party for the final battle, she said "I know you're not a believer" during the banquet. I had also taken a very hardline pro-templar stance on mage issues and repeatedly voiced skepticism/opposition to any reform. So I guess it's a combination of these factors that gave me this ending since my Inquisitor presumably would be more aligned with the anti-reform faction that arises? (Since I specialized in secrets, I like to head canon this and imagine my Inquisitor is covertly enabling and supporting the anti-Cassandra/reform faction.)

Did anyone else get this ending? Also, I'm kind of concerned that not many people appear to have got it because it means this ending (chantry at war) likely won't be addressed and included in consequences for future titles. =/

Also, it seems I must have had neutral approval with Cassandra at the end as I didn't get either of these comments:

Cassandra positive approval

A proclamation of support for the Inquisition is issued, recognizing its service to all of Thedas.

Cassandra negative approval

The Chantry's relationship with the Inquisition continues to be strained, and worsens as the months pass.

Funny how this is the default ending. Imagine the reaction to people who never use the Keep and they find out "Divine Cass ruined everything because she can't handle politics".

Is this really the default ending? How do you know? They try to make the ending with the least complications the default one -- so it seems more likely that Vivienne as Divine with no reform or Cassandra as Divine with the Seekers in tact as the default ending by that logic -- certainly not the ending where the Chantry is in an unprecedented civil war.

It's the default because for one, the default has Cass hate the Inquisitor and Cass never found the book so the Seekers were never reformed which automatically results in her bad ending as she is incapable of stopping her opponents through diplomacy or force, resulting in the chantry civil war.

Hmmmm, well I see that Cassandra is the default divine but how do you know what her approval is from the Keep? Also, how do you know what the default is about whether or not she approved of the inquisitor (or vice versa) and whether or not the seekers were rebuilt? Is that even an option in the Keep? I notice there's no section for companions under default -- just advisers.Plus even under the default world state, 80% of the options are hidden.:(

None of this matters that much anyways, unless we visit Southern Thedas years down the line. It seems like this whole side of the world will be in a blackout, so they can conveniently just move somewhere else with other games. Whatever you hear about civil wars or mage freedom or a mage divine probably won't be felt.

...All of the options for Divine have a "bad" version of their ending.

Also, default is generally designed to be a very mixed bag of positive and negative. They want you to feel motivated to build your own world state.

Why should people care what the default is?

Bioware generally does a mixed or "bad" world state, this isn't new to anyone

I don't think they went bad previously. With Mass Effect, yes.. but default HoF did a lot of stereotypical good things. And default Hawke is diplomatic and even did most sidequests.

You say that like Southern Thedas is a small place.

Hawke and HoF were pretty average yea, then you get Mass Effect and the Inquisitor with the bad defaults

It sure isn't. But they said something about wrapping this part of the world up (namely Ferelden and Orlais). Which is a shame, if true.

Well the Inquisition default is pretty awful, perhaps even worse than the ME defaults.

Is it really that bad? My keep is bugged... been locked out of it (all I can do is play the loaded world state I had).

I was hoping to turn the Inquisition into a MGS Outer Heaven type of situation; it would be good business with all the **** these Divines start. XD

e.g.

Inquisitor: "So the Quinari are offering me three shiploads of Marras-Lok and about 1000000 sovereigns worth of gold. That can fund my military state for quite some time, and to be honest I'm just going to burn stuff with the Marras-whatever. So the times dictate, that both of you need me for your sanguinary conflict... What can you offer me oh exalted Cassandra?" =]

Divine Cassandra: "My love and affection, and...and... this *gets handed a piece of paper by a bowing lackey* "IOU written on *disgusted noise* the back of a Sunday missal..." <_<

Inquisitor: "Well the love and affection has come and gone, how about this, you and the entire college of clerics walk out in the middle of the market distract wearing Orlesian maid uniforms with feather dusters, and perform an interpretive dance about the Avvar fertility goddess. It's either you tickle me with irony, or the Quinari pay my state with gold."

Cassandra: "Fine!"

Inquisitor: "Sold...   I want to see you sign the treaty."

*Inquisitor manipulates both sides to get the most for his military state* lol
