Also whats DA:I then?
If we go by your logic its a dating simulator made for people who don't get love in real life

You said it! I was thinking it but then decided to swallow it down. Sometimes I wonder what colour does hypocricy-glasses have. I doubt they are pink.

Pardon me for interrupting another Witcher debate, but didn't even CDPR admit that the sex cards weren't a good idea after TW1 came out?  As far as I know it isn't in TW2.  I have zero interest in the series, but I thought they got rid of those collection cards.

How it was presented?

Are you kidding me? The presentation in DA:I is so much better than in DA:O.

So I see the DAI fans are now beginning to defend DAI by tearing down DAO, do you really want to go there.....

That's because of reaction from that certain group, I won't name it here. I can tell you the game was made by E. European developer and targeted at the local audience at first. Not many here were offended by those cards because not many cares about those "morals" here not about that group. I doubt they did it not because suddenly they found how wrong they were. They did it to cater to western morals where in games sex=bad violence=tolerable.

Shame, they lost half of my respect because of that.

Witcher 1 nobody knows what it is everyone love it.

Witcher 2 some people know what it is everyone love it.

Witcher 3 look at forums people complaining about naked women, Ciri wearing high heels  Good no one take "complain" seriously.

We have very different values apparently. Sex=normal, violence=bad, but we not pretend it doesn't exist.

I understand liking the game, but I only think it accomplishes the "RPG" part in the dialogue/choices. It does this better than many games. But there's a whole element of character building missing when it comes to stats and how you roleplay your character's expertise. To me, these things aren't mere numbers, but a way to personalize, to give more life and background. It's even better when a game goes beyond mere stats and offers custom perks. Say, like, New Vegas. Then you've got even more options to make various techie/scientist characters or a survivalist or a cowboy or whatever. You can create a unique story just in the building process, before the game even starts. DAI skips much of this aspect of RPG'ing. Combat skills don't provide much for roleplaying. Slugger, shield user, archer, etc.. Mages probably have more room... but not much. Then layer this with a specialization.

I agree. There is also spell/ability Combinations like Bioware had in DA:O And Divinity: Original sin does a really good job with it. Honestly, spell combinations was one of the big things i was looking forward to seeing Bioware enhance

There is so much ridiculous semi-trolling whinging going on about this game on these boards, and it's really frustrating me. Especially since much of it is clearly coming from people who are playing this game to death, yet feel the need to come on these boards to whine and have their baseless criticisms validated because they think it makes them seem like discerning gamers.

Nuts to that.

I have played Bioware games since Baldur's Gate 2, and up until now that was my favourite RPG of all time. I liked DA:O just fine, and I loved DA2, but they weren't quite as mind-blowing as BG2.

This game makes all of those games look like amateur efforts. The sheer amount of content. The gorgeous well-designed graphics. The enormous amount of codex entries that don't dumb it down and don't "streamline" the world-building. The dynamic and innovative combat system that blends real-time elements with turn-based concepts. The well-thought out cast that's devoid of ridiculous stereotypes that have plagued some previous Bioware titles. Deep, involved romances, more so than any previous Bioware title.

This game is truly incredible. People see that, and that's why it's received such critical acclaim. It's not without its flaws. The loss of the detailed tactics system in DA2 disappointed me. Skyhold feels a bit empty and lifeless - Haven is a better home-base.

But this truly redefined what I thought Bioware was capable of, and RPGs more generally.

Please, leave a comment if you loved this game and are tired and frustrated by the constant pettiness and insincere cries of "Not enough hairstyles - guess I'm returning the game then!"

.

May i just ask is this your first serious RPG you've played, if so i completely understand where you are coming from.

But i'd say google a few other well known RPG games to be sure..

Some i consider the best in my gaming years

Vampire The Masquerade : Redemption

Dragon Age: Origins

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Mass Effect

Shadowrun Snes/Megadrive versions

Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura

Anachronox

Kingdoms of Amalur : Reckoning

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2

The Witcher 2

I understand some people will have issues with some or all of these, but for me every single one was better in multiple ways than Dragon Age : Inquisition.

I imagine Psychevore really does. If your substantive position is that DAO isn't much better than DAI, or is actually worse than DAI, "tearing down" DAO a bit is useful even if you actually like DAO. (I tear down ME1 all the time when I see it being overrated, for instance.)

FWIW, my personal ratings are DAO 93, DAI 89, but the DAI rating is still quite provisional.

I've tried to complete this game two times, only ever managed to get half way though before i give up out of boredom. I'm probably not gonna try and play the game again and just shelf it.

But, hey. If you like it good for you.

What games do you like?

I would recommend Pillars of Eternity to you ...

... but 1.) I don't know what you enjoy most and 2.) I haven't even finished my first pt of PoE yet.

(Quite the contrary even. I am just a couple of hours in, myself.)

Didn't you say once ... that you have also played the Drakensang duology ... ??? How dare you not to include them into your best of list ?!!!

... I'm joking ... :D

Just joking, big guy ^_^

But they are ... BLOODY AWESOME :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

If anybody cares to check out these links ...

Amazon.com - http://www.amazon.co...ords=Drakensang

This is their (english) Wikia - http://en.drakensang...ng_English_Wiki

I recommend the Drakensang games for being really excellent and "super nerdy" CRPG's! They are freakin' fantastic :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

They derive from the german "variant" of DnD which is called TDE - The Dark Eye (<<Link!) (or DSA in german). This system gives you a good sense of precise controll over what you are doing and is a very solid and comprehensive RPG system! I would even go this far to say that the PnP version is more complex, more comprehensive and above all has more lore than the american DnD system. But the VideoGames are perfectly consumer friendly ...

(Please do not confuse the SP-duology of Drakensang with the MMORPG spin-off !!! The SP games is where it's at :))

I am so in love with this game! I have never been so attached to any game character as I am to my Inquisitor. I love to see his story unfold, his friendship with Cassandra, his romance with Dorian! I have never played a so emotionally captivating ever... I was completely blown away.

And it looks just absolutely gorgeous. Also the fighting system is really fun. I have many games where I like the combat, but DA:I is definetly one of the best, if not the best. Sure nothing is perfect in the actual sense but what is. After I played this, I bought DA:O and DA 2, I really can say Bioware has my complete and utter respect for all of the games I've played so far, but I still find Da:I was above everything I could have ever imagined. I'm not saying that there is nothing to improve. One should always work on making things better (whatever that means is different from person to person). All this is my opinion and I'm happy if people agree, but they don't have to.

What bothers me the most is the "Can we just say this?" as if all of us secretly shared your opinion and we were doing something objectively wrong by not saying that. Well, many of us don't. You want me to say my opinion? Here it is: DAI is ok. It's dissapointing to me not because I've played better games, but because the firsts to come to mind were done by the same company and even the same team.

Maybe you should realize that people have different opinions, for example: for many people their favourite game is alsothe best one they have played. In my case, KotOR may be my favourite for what it means to me, but it's not* the best one by far. After all in the last decade there has been a lot of progress.

*Edit: forgot the negative there. Whoops.

DAI objectively is not a best rpg unless someone will buy that title, and DAI cant be in the list of 10 or 20 of best rpg what we already have because DAI was not beat them

DAI is worst rpg and not a good game than was DAO and even DA2, it is a step back and only graffic and engine was become better, but even new engine/physic was ruined by korean mmo combat system

Star Ocean (Story, meh. Gameplay, Awesome)

DA:O

Dark Souls/Demon's souls.

Disciples II: rise of the elves

Valkyria Chronicles

Company of Heroes

Drakengard (the first is my favorite)

Just some RPG's i like, don't want to bore with a terribly long list

you obviously haven't played the TW games

There is much more to them than freaking sex cards that was stupid sure but its only in TW1 and barely important

Both games have a great story with many choices to make (especially TW2 it changes an entire act) and awesome characters

the atmosphere is also unique. I'm personally looking forward to TW3

Also whats DA:I then?

I have played TW games, at least 1 and 2. Yes, they have good choices and a good storyline but the game really is a nerd guy fantasy fodder. "Oh Geralt, every women in the world wants to **** you. here, let's have overly detailed sex scenes of you plowing me from behind!" Not a single capable female in the game that isn't saved by Geralt at some point.

Someone who loves the Entropy-spell-school and always uses it in DA:O could never bore me with a game-list ... ;)

(I always wanted to comment on that ... but it was too late for that ... :( Oh what the heck: ENTROPY RULES - YEAH!!!! It is my absolute favorite spell-school, too!)

Well the only games I can recommend whole heartily are ...

  • "IWD2" - With tons of mods - Since they really enhance the game. More than the upcomming "Enhanced Edition" which has no ETA so far ... (IWD2, for me, has a bette UI and more freedom to party creation and character creation than the BG duology/trilogy and therefor I like it much better.)
  • "Temple of elemental Evil" - The "Circle of Eight" mod is a requirement NOT optional! The vanilla game is the greatest bug-fest known to mankind
  • The "Drakensang" duology - Drakensang (part 1) and Drakensang - The River of Time (part 2 ) - Very nerdy!
  • (The aforementioned) "Pillars of Eternity" - RPG culture alive and kickin' :wizard:

Upcomming ones would be ...

  • "Torment: Tides of Numenera"
  • "Shadowrun Returns - Hong Kong" (I hope the sequels of this series will continue to get better with every installment. They are still a bit "quirky" ...)
  • "The Witcher 3" (But only because many others recommend this. I never played TW1&2.)

...

If my Mac could run it ... "Legend of Grimrock 1&2" looked very interesting! GOG.com has them :wizard:

I am guessing you know all of these games and most likely have played a lot of them already ...

I, myself, still must play Divinity: Original :?

Take care!

Yet Geralt is almost always saved by a woman whenever things go south for him. I don't see what's wrong with the sex scenes, if you don't like them, skip them, nothing is ever said during them so miss absolutely nothing.

Off topic I know, but Valkyria Chronicles made me cry so baaad. Specially at that part of the game when one of the main characters meets a terrible fate. The voice acting in English and Japanese both nailed that scene well.

What is even worse is the decision to make Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 on PSP only.  Whoever made that decision should be fired...immediately  The again, it is Sega we are talking about so I am not really surprised.  I guess Valkyria Chronicles 2 didn't sell as well as was hoped for (gee big surprise there), so Valkyria Chronicles 3 was exclusively made available in Japan.  To get an English version of Valkyria Chronicles 3, you have to rely on an unoffical fan translation.

But on Topic:  OP, if DAI is the best RPG you have ever played then you need to play more RPG's.  I am guessing you are just saying that to counter the negativity you see on the forums regarding DAI.  This is similar to people posting 0 score reviews or 10 score reviews on Metacritic to counter what they perceive to be unjust / unfair criticism on way or the other.  This is also why I tend to avoid Metacritic or, at  best, take Metacritic scores with a grain of salt.  Some of the DAI criticism is entirely justified (example:  Poor Keyboard and Mouse controls on PC, poor tactical combat / lack of tactics in general, and yes even lack of customization option - read: hairstyles especially for qunari and females in general ) while some criticism is at least somewhat questionable (example:  No healing magic, Not enough love interests, No Dorian romance for females / No Sera romance for males, etc.).

I have played many traditional RPGs (and hybrids to include action, tactical and even fps / shooters)  and would consider the following among the best I have played:  KOTOR1 and KOTOR2 (despite content being cut due to cost / time constraints), ME1, ME2 and ME3 (despite original ending and initial multiplayer requirement to get best ending controversies), Jade Empire, Valkyrie Chronicles,  Shin Megami Tensei / Persona (series), Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls:  Morrowind, KOA: Reckoning, Xenogears / Xenosaga (series), Grandia II (Dreamcast version), Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360 including all DLC) Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition (PS3), XCom Enemy Within (XBox 360) and the original X-Com: UFO Defense (for PC back in the 1994 - courtesy of Microprose RIP), Lunar and Lunar 2 (Sega CD - courtesy of Working Designs RIP), Chrono Trigger, Monster Hunter 4, Final Fantasy (some of them).  There are probably others that I could include as well.

But if you are actually being serious about DAI being the best RPG you have ever played, then more power to you and to each his own I suppose...

I like that one theory that one person brought up saying something along the lines of "different people have different opinions." At first I thought they were talkin' crazy, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense to me and the more I like it. So I'm gonna support that theory.

DAI had tons of potential; but the terrible side quests and lifeless hubs keep it from reaching my top list.

My favorite BioWare games are DAO and ME2.
