It would help a lot of Shepherd learned to write email during his supersoldier training. ("Hey Ash, I know things got heated on Horizon, but I appreciate your email. This whole thing where I've been dead for two years really sucks.")

Yeah it would have been a nice touch if after you got an email you got a choice(dialogue option) to send a positive email or negative one. You know...either I want to see you after this is all over or we're through. The way it was left was just a little bit murky and not clear. People that don't know about the email simply assume that was the breakup and have no idea your LI is still interested.

I was just thinking about that!

Kelly: Commander, you have unread messages--
Shepard: From?
Kelly: Oh uh...there's one...from Kaidan (or Ashley).
Shepard: **** that.
*Shepard then seeks comfort and seduces someone on the Normandy partially out of spite, then finally reads the message*
Shepard: ...****.

Anway, to be more on topic...I dunno. I was really satisfied with the reunion with Garrus. He became a genuinely interesting character and you get a chance to joke around with him like you really are old friends. The dialogue was something like "How bad do I look?" and then you can tell him always looked ugly. He just laughs about it and says something about ladies digging scars.

And Helena Blake becoming a social worker on Omega is hilarious.

The thing with Liara I found is that she acts so out of character. So in two years she has now gone from being a scientist to an information broker? Two years is a long time but that is a pretty drastic shift. Also she's now cold-blooded enough to just kill people off without thinking about it?

Yeah, I know what you mean. She goes from being a socially-awkward scientist—who, additionally, preferred to be by herself—to a “tough-chick” who quotes her mother’s lines to scare people. Two years can change people, I’m sure, but the fact her social-awkwardness is gone just… I don’t know, makes me hate her. Well, that, and her voice… it really bothers me. Especially when she quotes her mother’s lines… *shudders*

But personal tastes are personal tastes, I guess. Image IPB

I haven't played through all of it yet, but here's my thought. It's been
*two years*. A lot can change in two years. Think about people you've seen
that have dropped off the radar and suddenly you find out they have a kid
and are getting married or something. I know it's happened to me!

It's a shock to be faced with someone you've mourned, and it's probably
more shocking to find this person you looked up to is not only alive, but
is working for who you perceive to be the enemy, perhaps shaking your
confidence that they really are the same person they knew. For Shepard,
the last solid memories are spinning away from Joker and dying. For
everyone else? They've moved on. There's going to be a huge shift in
perspective between Shepard and others. Of course all of these people
acting this way are surprising - they went through a lot when they were
with Shepard, and that changed them, as well as the next couple of years.
It's sudden for us, but that's good storytelling in this case - it's
sudden for Shepard, too. That's not to say that some of it could be more
satisfying, but if someone changed a lot? It happens.

Now, what would be interesting is if Shepard could bounce feelings off of
Kelly about this kind of stuff. Kind of lend more to it that happens in
the game. But for me, I'll fill in the blanks on my own.

... and hope for Kaidan without head up his butt in ME3... :D

I agree with you. Some of your companion's reactions are lack luster to say the least, but I totally understand the LI's point of view. I wrote something simillar to what you have stated in another thread. For the sake of not repeating myself, I'm going to give a nice healthy "Yeah! what KealaFerret said!" :D

I'm still wondering though, with all the focus on ME1 LIs do the connections you made in ME2 account for anything. Some of us prefer them over ME1 LI's. I guess only time will tell.

I was looking forward to finally seeing Liara again. I figured there would be a great cutscene or something. I wouldn't have cared if it was short or not.

I was disappointed with (1 kiss, now work for me) thing. After the entire first game, I figured an everlasting bond was created between my LI and I. I guess not.

I just wished there was at least more emotion and effort put into reuniting with your long lost lover.

Liara is undercover, she loves you still, but she can't show it. After shephard disappeared she went to look for shephard only to end up with the illusive man showing Liara Shephards body. She was told that the Shadow broker has to do with the collectors and the reapers, thats why she's so obsessed with them. She knows you are alive and she knows the illusive man brought you back. Thats why she's not surprised.

The thing that bothers me is that two years ISN'T a long time for Asari. Imagine a person you know, who is generally a kind-hearted person, turning into a hardened jerk in 2 months.

It just doesn't seem right.

I was kinda sad how when you would go to certain planets and find other party memebers and their encounters were rather stale. But I also felt that other encounters from side quests and certain events letting people live, helping them out etc. Felt like they were kinda just thrown in at times? Ya know?

Tali misses you, if you read the journals. She says.. "I wish shephard was here. I miss my old friends." Obviously she's not going to really SHOW it. Liara, poor Liara is trapped by the deal she made with the Illusive man though.

Well.... from my playthrough thus far

Ashley: DAMN! Tho I played Femshep.... her words both touched and REALLY hurt me! I actally could feel her joy/sadness when she realized I was alive

Then came the double whammy when she pointed out my working with Cerberus. I felt bad. Real bad. Filthy.

Wrex: Squeee! Sittin' all high and mighty on his throne! Plus he called me a friend!

Garrus: Party member nuff said. :)

Tali: Squeeee! My fav tech buddy! I"m actually preparing to go the Flotilla right now.

Those are my main. Ran into a few random ones like Gianna Parasini and I was like daaaaaamn I remember you!

Now... Liara is my LI.... why do I have the feeling there isn't a romance??

Oh, also the deal she made was that she would find the Shadow broker, for Shephards sake, not for the Illusive man. It really stops there though. She becomes obsessed with everything... ~Cough.~ Protheans. ~Cough.~

It is possible, the illusive man did something to her. But she's probably just obssesed with her mission.

I love how people auto-attack the writers. I thought it was fine, it makes sense if you look at each one.

SPOILERS!

Wrex: If you let him live on Virmire it changed him, he became a natural leader. You were his mentor. He is still attached to Shepard and unchanged in disposition.

Ashley: She ****s you out for obvious reasons. To her you betrayed the Alliance and, furthermore, your friendship. Of course she is going to blow you off.

Liara: Its obvious she has changed, alot. She's doesnt seem so "young" anymore even though only two years have passed.

Completely dissapointing. Everyone, including Anderson and Garrus is just like "Oh, Shepard...your alive..that's..nice..." What's up with that? And whats happened to Liara? If there isn't an explantion as to why she's crazy now, that's just plain wierd. And Kaiden just gets pissed off with you. I like the game being so dark, but uh, are they trying to make us despise the old characters?

After Shephards disappearance, Liara devoted her life to look for you alive. Eventually the Illusive man finds Liara and tells Liara that Shephard is dead. But she doesn't believe it, so he shows Liara Shephards body. The Illusive man tells Liara about the collectors and the reapers and tells her that the shadow broker is working with them. She tells the Illusive man that she isn't doing this for Cerberus, but for shephard. So she knows about the project bringing shephard back and she's been through a lot of hardcore stuff that changed her.

Cerberus weren't the ones who had Shephard's body. It was the Shadow Broker who had hired the Blue Suns to sell Shephard's body to the Collector's. The IllusiveMan just wanted to intercept that exchange so he got Liara.

Also her friend who she was working with to find the body was killed by the Shadow Broker's men. She barely got out alive and now she wants revenge. Of course these things will change a personality of a character.

I thought Miranda's backstory was a lot more indepth than Liara's in ME1. And you have to actually work harder to get her to admit she loves you, where as Liara admits she is very attracted to you in the second dialog in ME1. She was my love interest in ME1 so i went in thinking we were going to have a nice reunion... but after how she treated me... I was out the door.

I belive you guys are mistaking ME1's Love intrests for the rest of the characters. because

1. Wrex was happy and knew Shepard wasn't dead

2. Tali was happy and even wished Shepard was there

3. Garrus was tired and in a fight so don't blame him

4. Kaiden wasnt there cuz he died, lol but i expect the same reaction as Ash if not a little diffrent.

I <3 you, no one ever says "What KealaFerret said!" :D

I'm actually thinking of a little bit of fanfic indulgence in Shepard's feelings about it, just because I have lots of thoughts. And I'd like to rattle around an explanation for the picture of the ME1 LI in the cabin that mysteriously appears (while a totally awesome touch that I grinned at, and I was glad to see, the completest in me wants to think there's a story of how it really got there).

I wonder how it'll work out in ME3; I'm curious where the ME2 ones could go, too. There's some neat characters in the new batch, and some good spins on old ones.
