There's veilfire there and usually where there's veilfire there's a rune, but i can't find anything. It's not all that important but it's bugging me.

There's is a particularly hard ledge to traverse, on the west edge of the map above the lurker nest, that has a deposit of veil quartz, although I don't know if you can only see it with the torch. That's my best guess.

There are glyphs on the wall in the avaar village (the woman who prepares bodies for the gods). You need a veil fire for this.
But the veil fires are not placed near a rune schematic in this game. They are meant to lighten up veil quartz and other items. If you don't have a veil fire in your hand you will not find the veil quartz deposits and other 'treasures':

Do the Veilquartz Deposits "ping" once you have veilfire in hand when actively searching?

In my experience (which is once) Veilquartz does not ping when searching.
