I've been playing DAMP for a couple of months in North America on the PC platform, which is not much compared to some of the 'demi-gods' on this forum. I play PUGs all the time and often meet new players. The following information is some very basic knowledge that I could not find in the "The Unofficial DAMP Resource Library”.

The following is dedicated to all 'mortals':

  1. How to Kick / Mute teammates during gameplay [PC]

During gameplay press "v" and you can see your team members (just like the lobby). If you click on a team members name there's an option to "Mute" or "Kick" them. When you vote to kick someone a red skull will appear next to their name.

  1. How to set Banners / Portraits / Titles [PC]

You can access this by doing the following in the Multiplayer menu:

  1. Click "Prestige"

  2. Click "Challenges"

  3. On your left, there will be different challenges such as: Weekend Events, Agent, Weaponry, General... etc.

  4. Click on a challenge category, for example "Elemental"

  5. Under "Elemental" you can see how many kills you've gotten with the different types of elements. You will notice there are small gold stars and some bigger gold stars. The more kills with XX element, the more stars. If you have enough kills with an element you unlock a big star which unlocks a Banner/ Titles or Portrait. If you have a big star, click on it and press the "Set title/Icon/Portrait"

  1. How to track a challenge [PC]

You can do this in the same place as the Banner / Icon / Title.

Lets say you're working on getting a lot of Fire kills. Under the Challenge tab called "Elemental", you can see the fire kills you have achieved. If you hover your mouse over the fire kills, you will notice a faded gray eye on the left, click that eye and it will track your fire kills in game. You can only have one "tracker" running at a time.

-> faded gray eye on the left under a challenge

  2. How to download the free content: Destruction expansion [PC]

You can get the expansion for FREE this way:

    1) Locate Dragon Age Inquisition in your Origin Library

    2) R-Click the game

    3) Pick "View Game Details"

    4) Pick "Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer Expansion"

For some reason or another the Destruction Expansion is not automatically installed.

Basically they split the player base in 2, since a lot of new people do not know about the expansion. I didn't know, before I saw a YouTube video of a guy fighting a giant in multiplayer and I was like: “I wanna do that too!”

  3. How to promote a character

In the character selection screen there's an icon saying “promote”. Once you have a character at rank 20 it will be possible to click that icon. Doing so will grant you a +1 bonus to either constitution/willpower or cunning for ALL of your characters.

  4. How to unlock new classes

To unlock a new class go to armor crafting and craft the armor of the class you want. The crafting of the armor unlocks the chosen class. The material tier used for armor crafting does not have an effect on the quality of the crafted armor.

    Save your cotton for:

Tier 1 Staff end = "Heal on kill"

Tier 2 Bow grip = "Willpower"

  5. Prestige

You gain prestige by completing challenges and promoting characters.

  1. Treasure Rooms, Events and the Golden Nug

During a game there are a total of 6 chests; 2 'free' chests with no guardians and 4 'cursed' chests where guardians may appear. The golden Nug will always appear in act 1 or act 3.

Events always take place in act 2 and act 4.

  2. Come here! Come here! Come here!

If you want a treasure room opened by another player, stand next to the door and press "F4". If they do not come fast enough then proceed to spam "F4", even if the rest of the team is engaged in combat. People really love that. ;-)

  3. Please, feel free to add additional stuff

Is number 10 aimed at Bioware?

Nice informative post. I hadn't a clue about kicking or muting when I first started.

Nice post. I think it's good to have some gamepad keys mentioned too.

It's 'back' button for 1.

But the most crucial thing I wish I had known from the very start is that one does not need to hold the left stick button in order to sprintIt's a bloody toggle. It's not obvious, especially considering that in SP walk\run only depends on the stick angle and does not involve any extra buttons at all.

Great post!

Something I wished I knew:

  • You will unlock new variants upon crafting the Tier 2 armors (normal or Inquisition style). DO NOT waste material actually crafting the variants of the starting armor, it's never worth all the cost, especially being low on material at the beginning already. I heard stories of a certain kind of idiot being out there who actually does that.

  • Don't forget about Potions!
Healing Cloud can serve as a backup heal which is never bad, but especially Confusion Bomb (or whatever it's called) can save your butt and be a momentary total game changer in Wave 5.
Fire Resistance potions will make an aggro management mistake when facing fire-charged wraiths less devastating, Spirit Resistance makes even a bad PuG manageable when the Wraiths in Demon Wave 5 are just floating about loose and shoot at anything that moves. Resistance Potions are applied to ALL group members surrounding you!

P.S.: Oh god, the +Willpower cloth. I have 6 units of Cotton stacked ever since release of the game (4 of the Tier 3 version, but I wouldn't even dare to consider it), and been actively trying to build that bow grip for 2 1/2 months now. Not a single unit, despite salvaging five tons of crap loot on a daily basis.

@SofaJockey Not sure if you're being serious or extremely sarcastic on this one, but my own reaction had been pretty much like that too.  =]

So much of the intuitive user-friendly UI.

Cheerfully admit to the occasional bit of sarcasm which I try to use only where a dumb poster or post merits it,

but no straight up honest on this one, I didn't know.

I've been holding the stick down for (I don't want to tell you how many) hours.

It became tiresome so I just reached the enemies a little after everyone else (always handy for the Tank  )

This is wonderful news, but where is it explained that this is how it works, how did I miss it??

The thing is - it's not mentioned anywhere. Like, at all. Probably some hidden codex tutorial has that, idk.

I think I've seen some random post saying that holding the stick is not needed. Lucky me, it happened rather soon after I started playing, my left thumb had not suffered that long. Couple of weeks, may be (but those were frustrating enough, yeah).

So I do know how you feel. And there's no shame, really. I think plenty of players both old and new out there still have no idea about this one

The rarity of Accessory items.

In my first runs I got an accessory ring which I salvaged for speedier class armor unlocks. Can't remember what ring it was, for all I know it might have been HoK.

Don't spend money on platinum because RNG.

Also I didn't get that ability rings were for the specific ability. I thought duration for mage gave it to every spell so I destroyed a ton of ability rings. I can only imagine how good they may have been.

I'd have like to see a better sense of when to tackle new difficulty levels.  I feel bad for some of the new players who read the 'for levels 8 -16' notice for Threatening, particularly post-patch 6, and then promptly get hosed.

A little speaker with waves also appear on the top right corner of your banner when you are broadcasting sounds to the entire group. Sometimes the game has a bug where you will be broadcasting all the time even if you have Push to Talk enabled. Ironically, it usually triggers when you mute another player for broadcasting.

My friend and I were once in a match where someone who was clearly brand new commented on the game and us throughout the entire match. My friend and I use another program to voice chat and did a lot of laughing. Neither of us wanted to say anything to let him know because it was so entertaining hearing his stream of consciousness.

I wish I knew all this at the beginning also. I'm actually still learning. Recently I was curious to know what my HP actually was, so the only way I know is to hover the cursor over my dead body, lol

I like to do that stream of consciousness when i'm on mic. Also don't tell the missus I kept my mic on while she sang karaoke in the next room broadcasting it to everyone without her knowing.

I'd love that mic button above the HP bar in-game as well, so I'd know someone had a mic. Right now I'm using my computer monitor as my screen and it has no sound output, so until I find my old composite cable to connect to external speakers I have no sound in the game. Whenever I want to hear other peeps speak I need to use my mic, which I don't use unless I see someone use the mic.

When I first started damp I had no idea how to even sprint on xbone.  I was like "how the hell are these guys moving so much faster than me".  I thought maybe it was a gear upgrade or something.
