THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE!!!!!

What a shame that in 2015 a a mishmash of small, independent studios pooled their resources, creativity, dug down deep into their hearts and poured their very being into creating what the EA/Bioware Behemoth could not deliver with all its shock and awe called DAI

Pillars of Eternity: Another divinity that will surely cement its place in the pantheon of western RPG classics . Why couldn't DA 3 be like this?? Amazing story, great customization, believable characters, meaningful choices, real tactical combat and a feeling like those who made it actually gave a damn

Please, Bioware, just sell the DA franchise to people that actually care about those sorts of games you were once admired and praised for!!!!

Otherwise,,,,,,, just re brand it "Dragon Age: The RPG-esque Action Game, no Critical Thinking needed"

I don't mean to be rude, but you are showing your "Gamers are too stupid to understand Games" side right now...

Its comments like yours that help EA CEO's...

Only just got started with it, but it seems to hold a lot of potential so far. Though the stat compression (e.g. one "might" attribute that decides physical as well as mental/spiritual damage) doesn't sit quite right with me. I know they tried hard to make it so you couldn't botch your character from the start, but I never saw that as a problem.

gamers don't have time to learn games, more likely.

EDIT

anyways, i think EA CEO has a damn good idea about what gaming evolution should look like. ok, i'll stop now.

sorry

Liking it so far. Huge variety of characters you can create, and the companions seem very interesting too. Great to get a proper roleplaying game again. This one might be the best game since fallout 2\baldur's gate 2.

Tides of Numenera isn't far off either. From what I have seen of that one lately, it just might end up being even better. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one too.

Yep, enjoying the game. Great to have options with stats and skills that matter.

Also we make actual decisions.

Just playing on normal at the moment. I don't mind the combat system at all.

Don't yell jeez. But I'm glad it's good, Obsidian make so many great games so it's good that they have their own IP. Sadly I won't get to play it since my computer sucks :(

The game isn't that taxing on the system though. Easy for me to say I suppose, but the system requirements are quite modest.

I actually have to agree with this statement here.  Genrally speaking, Majority, of console Gamer/ PC are mostly 20yo+  the younger crowd prefer their smartphones, and tablets to play on. (Nintendo realised this and that's why the XL ds Model is now standard).

And most Gamers who grew up in the RPG era/ Golden Age are now working adults..so they don't want to learn new things. But they have not forgotten the way games used to be. Which is , arguably, why pillars had so many backers( giving up good sums of money). Because most of that crowd are adults, with $$$.

That's good, I should check out the specs then. For most games I naturally assume that my PC can't run it.

I'm only about three hours in, but it's brilliant so far! Finally, my dream of being a nature Godlike dwarf druid has come true. She's adorable.

Of course, I also love Inquisition. Going on first impressions, I may just alternate between playing it and PoE for the rest of time. Or at least until the sequels come out.

Sorry if my opinion doesn't join yours people, it looks like it belongs in the 90s and should remain there. Too much stuff to read, barely any voice acting and slow sort of gameplay. Not my cup of tea. Like, it's cool if people like it, but to me who never been a PC player, I don't understand the hype and the nostalgia. I don't understand how people enjoy this type of game which is too slow and forces you to read for hours stuff that pop on the screen. If I wanted to read something, I'd open up a book. "Believe it or not, this is the type of game BioWare used to make," someone will tell me. Well, guess what... I'm glad they stopped.

Well...Young One....then maybe you will never understand why Dragon Age Origins is and remains an absolute classic. And yes,,,reading is a necessary life skill, even for enjoying something as  modern as a video game it seems!!

I enjoyed DAO, I just hate reading. It's lazy I know, but I prefer when video games have voice narrators/characters.
Was born in 1987, so I'm not actually that young.

Some of my favorite games have had pretty much books of dialogue. Like planescape Torment, what a classic. Wouldn't mind seeing an enhanced edition of that for modern systems.

In some of my favorite games you had to type commands.

That's not true.  BioWare and Bethesda have tons of content involving reading.  Though most people have the attention span of a fish and won't take 5 seconds to read anything that goes beyond two sentences(at the most), so therefore the devs give the option of skipping these.

I've had Steam on my laptop for ages, and this would be the first time that I ever actually got something out of it. Guess I'll see for myself how good this game is.
