In your opinion, what is the best volus in multiplayer?

 

And what are your favorite volus builds?

 

 

 

It is perfectly okay and even encouraged to use support role sets

but the best weapon is either a black widow or javelin for spearing/jabbing/poking purposes

I'm kinda partial to the VolDept with a CSMG and incendiary rounds myself... or, obviously the BatGauntlet Protector with a Talon and incendiary rounds ... or the Sentinel with a Typhoon or even the Engie with a Falcon ... oh, I dunno, I kinda like the little rolly pollys.

They're all amazing, and I have seen specialists wreck with every one. My favorite is the Vsent with Talon.

Saying "best Volus" implies that at least one of the Voluses are good.  They are not.  The least bad Volus is the Vanguard with the Batarian Gauntlet, because seeing a tiny, invisible bowling ball shooting across the battlefield, slamming into the enemy, and then punching them in the nads so hard it makes their head explode never gets old.

Volus Engineer is an amazing support debuffer and damage dealer + healer. 

 

25% more damage + 30% slow from Recon Mine + 20% more damage from Proximity Mine = MMMMmmmmmonster damage. 

 

And you can Michael Bay the Recon Mine for more damage to boot. Plus Volus are amazing in hack circles or helping to cap an objective in a difficult location by shield boosting teammates. 

 

PAY DAY! is guaranteed.

Worse things about volus? They cant climb the stairs. Are you freaking kidding me biovar? Seeker swarms climb stairs. I get in lot of trouble in Vancouver and Giant. Miss the extraction.

Exploding drone + exploding decoy + Scorpion + disruptor ammo = Endless tech bursts and (some) distracted enemies.

Watch HeroicMass's Hold The Line videos and tell me the Volus are weak kits.

 

Even I've been able to put up a respectable score on Plat with a Saber Volus Merc. If a total scrub can do that, the kits cannot be entirely bad. I've watched PaunchyCyclops score over 180k with the same kit in a pug game. I've watched Jan Rynchester (I miss him and t0riko, BTW) score over 200k in a Gold pug with the Volus Protector. They may not be your favorite kits, or even mine,for that matter, but they can be pretty dam good in the right hands.

Yeah, I know the Volus can be used effectively, especially if you have good weapons.  I don't know that they are any more effective than any other classes with the same weapons though.  They are definitely good support classes (maybe the best).
