Looking forward to it.

I enjoyed it a great deal too ![]()
First few cons tho, from the start it feels like another area, the feeling eventually left me but at the start it felt empty and just another desert with shards and fetch quests. And i still missed a bit more story, what was there was gripping and finely told but more lore and more story is always welcome instead of picking random stuff
And still very few new armours and staffs, there is plethora of new weapons of other kind, but it still seems there is very few good staffs in the game, except for the hakkon staff which is useless in the basin as its dmg is cold based, there is none better than Purity's light which is from vendonr in like fourth map of the game...
Otherwise it was great, i enjoyed the Avvar (they remind of vikings for certain reasons and nothing wrong with that), the lore was great and the story was very cool, once iv gotten to know the area more and stopped being unreasonably impatient with the story the combat became much more fun too. I have to say this is a very hard area, sometimes the archer and assasin insta kills felt cheap but there are ways around it, played the entire DLC on nightmare with friendly fire, except for the second to last boss, the dude in the cave. Damn that was reeeeally hard, I honestly dont know if it was meant to be that way or if it is bugged a little but the constant switching of aggro made it almost impossible to tank properly when there were other mobs around. No way to kite it, no way to survive the hand ability with mage more than a few times head on either, it was really hard to make work, so i turned the friendly fire off, that helped. It was amazing fight and very rewarding to beat.
Altogether i was very satisfied, there is plenty of content, took me about 10 hours to beat the game and discover the entire map, quite some time for a DLC. I would not neccesary go in the same direction for the other dlcs tho, i mean its fine and all with a new story and as introductiory map for Avvar and their world, but for anything that we already know a bit more about it would not work. I hope that when a DLC about solas/wardens/darkspawn/whateverpleaseletitbeawesome comes, it will be scripted with bigger chunks of story rather than huge open space (nothing wrong with that for most part, just switch it up a little) For example like the companion quests for Sera or Vivien were in a new area, closed off with its own story but bigger of course, it could be accesible after completing no problem if you want to put some secrets and pickable objects in it (surprisingly i enjoyed finding the glyphs and such in the Basin)
In any case, thanks Bioware, you guys rock, give us more tho ![]()
Oh and the sentencing Storvacker bit was pure genious ![]()
Edit: Found new electricity based staff, im content ![]()
This is not the story DLC I asked for....
Too bad. In dao We had to wait till the last dlc to continue Morrigan's story. So don't expect Solas' story any time soon.
I bought this DLC and Origin UI says it is installed, so how do I find it in game?
I got it now, I had not done the "In Your Heart Shall Burn". Once I finished that and moved from Haven to Skyhold the War Table updated to include the content.

War Table.
South West Ferelden.
Why I'm not enjoying it:
1. It is a timed exclusive and I cannot play it.
2. See number 1...

Just to tease a bit. There are places where there are level 30 depair demons! Oh, and a giant that if your party is underlevelled is simply "Your Journey has ended!"'

damn you got my hopes up for level 30 desire demons.
Does it stay night permanently after the end of the DLC? I really liked the way things looked with sunlight streaming through the trees, now everything is so dark that I can walk off a cliff before I notice where I am. BRING BACK THE SUN!!!!
I like how the lore is giving me more reasons to hate the Chantry as I learn about Ameridan.

I am sorry I meant to say Level 30 Despair demons. I will correct my post. I typed what I was wishing. Damn my wishful thinking! Getting old is becoming less and less fun, but it beats the alternative.
I've always wanted to know more about the Avvar. In the previous Dragon Age games they're portrayed as this mysterious barbaric and ancient group. You only get little bits of info on them, like the two talking statues of the brothers and the hidden crypt under Vigil's Keep in Awakening. So imagine my disappointment when Jaws of Hakkon lacks both good storytelling and quests. Although I enjoyed the lore and interaction with the Avvar, but that's about it. The DLC doesn't really do anything new. In fact, the entire DAI game does away with the mystery surrounding the Avvar. You just suddenly encounter them in Fallow Mire, while in the previous games, you're not even sure if they still exist. Though, i must say, I love their design.
What I took from the OP is that the Dragon Age fanbase missed a massive opportunity to dye all their armors for March Madness and post the pics online.
I like it to.
I just realized I've been playing at it every evening since it released and I still haven't finished it.
You thought Pride Demons are misleadingly weak? Try a Rift spawn in a narrow canyon with ALL lvl 26 Pride Demons.

I think that's the most difficult battle in the whole game. I cleaned all the other rifts(except that one and the one next to the Icy Gate), killed the Final Final Boss, but those Pride beasts? I don't want to go back to that rift. I just don't.
I've only explored and done about 2/3rds of the map, but honestly, I'm really enjoying this area a lot more than the other areas. The others were unbalanced, while in this map, I can run around with my well-built team and still get my ass handed to me (looking at you, quad despair demons level 30). There was also a satisfying amount of loot.
The story kind of comes and goes, but that is a result of the open world gaming (of which I'm not a fan, but this area was quite allright). I'm looking forward to the end, though. I hear it's good.
Also, I LOVE the new aegis of the rift ability.
All in all, yes, 15 euros is a lot for this content when compared to, say, the rest of the game, but on the other hand,w hen compared to a night out, it isn't expensive. So... When people say it's overpriced, I say nay. It's completely personal.

I did it yesterday, after the third try.
This DLC made me use potions and bombs for real for the first time, and Sera with a maxed-out Bee Swarm is as ridiculous as it's useful. Imagine 5 giant monster running around in panic, being chased by frenzy bees and wasps! Great fun was had by all.
Confusion Bomb or Knockout Powder also works wonders. It used to be just a fun gimmick, but the DLC really rewards attempting some Crowd Control other than just "caster->archers->melees" here and there.

He doesn't make the elves look any better ether.
. . .
(5) Last but not least, the area looks amazing. The permanent night at the end is unfortunate, though. I like the night atmosphere just as well but for an extended sojourn I'd prefer daytime.
My only major point of criticism is that combat was a bit on the hard side. Most of the time it was manageable but the fight in the frozen fortress was rather annoying, not because of the enemies but because of the freezing and the fact the enemy put out all the fires. I frequently switched down to Casual, not exactly because I couldn't manage any higher difficulty, but because doing so was not enjoyable.
All in all, though, JoH was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It sticks in my mind, and it will be an important part of most of my Inquisitors' stories.
Right with you on your point #5. Give me back my beautiful afternoon.
I play on Normal, and never drop to Easy. If you have good resistance to cold, you should be OK. The fires going out are manageable. I equip my whole party with fully upgraded cold-resistance tonics when I take on the fortress, and I have them all chug one the moment there's a sign of trouble.
I love this whole area myself, and it's the place to go for high-level crafting materials. I don't feel the least bit guilty about exploiting the rift droppings. They give me a good reason to traverse the basin on nugback repeatedly. ![]()
I didn't have the impression that the cold resistance tonics did anything significant. Also, how do you exploit rift droppings? They drop only when you close it, don't they, and you can't do that more than once.Right with you on your point #5. Give me back my beautiful afternoon.

The same way you exploit chests. Leave 1 item in the rift drop, fast travel out of the basin then back to the basin, loot refreshes.
As for Jaws, I feel better about getting it at it's current price now that I know it will be the only major expansion DLC for last gen.
I agree weed does help, playing DAI stoned is awesome, you can pick shards forever....
