Why I'm loving Jaws of Hakkon

However, the fact that he screwed around with time magic seemed a bit out of left field.... I thought that was something Doran and Alexius developed. I'd love to see some kind of "Time Mage" ability tree pop up in the future.

Agreed on the Ameridan stuff... that was a fun quest with some sick armor at the end. I actually read every single codex/note in that one, and I rarely do. I loved him being an elven mage... great twist on the Chantry lore.

What Ameridan uses is a slow time spell that is more similar to Knight Enchanter's Disruption Field/Stasis Lock. Slowing down or quickening things has always been a part of magic in the DA universe. Even the Western Approach time freeze is different than real time magic.
Although "true" time magic is probably based on slow, quicken and teleportation magic, moving things through time was something that had always been tried but always fails.
That's until the Breach allowed all those time magic theories to become reality for those that were on the right path (Dorian and Alexius).
Anyways, I wouldn't find it hard to believe that Ameridan was a Knight-Enchanter or an Arcane Warrior based off the magic he used, the dragons he slew and his background.

I do have issues as well. I feel like it's unnecessarily padded for the sake of making it longer. That was the main issue unanimously on the game itself. There were fetch quests, go to this area and do this x5. Quality not quantity.
All in all it offers lots of quality mixed with some repetitive grinding, in a luscious looking landscape.

I really really loved Jaws of Hakkon, especially when I played through the second time on Hard mode.
I had gotten through the game on Hard mode dying maybe once, and ran in thinking it'd be p smooth sailing as I didn't remember it being too difficult on my first playthrough. Noooope. Died a good dozen times in JoH alone. JoH introduces a lot of interesting lore tidbits especially about spirits from the Avvar, but I don't think Ameridan's magic was out of left field. As Balek said, it seems to be from the Knight-Enchanter perk...which I know because I love playing a Knight-Enchanter.
Knight-Enchanter was, after all, an ancient Elven art/order. It makes sense Ameridan would be one. But lets not forget his reference to his "Spirit Friend" who may have gave him the spell. It may not have been his own power he was using, or the knowledge to use the power may have come from another. He cast his spell and then was stuck there, likely falling into something similar to Uthenera until the new Jaws of Hakkon showed up and woke him up with their crap.
I dunno, there was just so much neat stuff in JoH that I loved learning about. Area was difficult to survive on Hard (after doing basically every other quest and area in the game, including shards), I can't imagine how bad it'll be on Nightmare.
And, of course, more evidence of the chantry's blatant altering of history to serve their own needs...personal opinion, grr.

I loved the lore and the hints that tie into the spirits again. Bioware has created a deep world with a slow burning reveal that might take games to finally happen, but everything seems to be leading somewhere.
I really don't get the hate for the game or the DLC when it comes to being "story lite" or shallow... I guess some people just can't pay attention.

I liked the DLC as well
especially on the Avvar and how their culture relatively works. They weren't quite visible to the players until Inquisition. Plus the map was quite beautiful to traverse through! I liked how it changed from day to night as well as another dragon as a boss. I really liked the scenes where Inquisitor meets the Inquisitor. I thought it was poignant.

Our Inquisitor meeting Ameridan was quite gut wrenching in the feels department, especially when he finds out his love tried to reach him through her dreams. And the bit of advice he gave me about enjoying moments of Happiness when I can, the world will take the rest. Yeah, I really loved that character, and would love more characters like him in the future.
Edit: I think my Rogue associates with him the most. He never wanted to be Inquisitor, and Ameridan was right;
Hunting Demons is a lot simpler then dealing with Politics.

It is not bad. It is not great either imo. Truth is, I am a little disappointed when Cassandra has nothing to say about this whole discovery back in Skyhold. ![]()

Cannot recall which characters, but I am fairly certain there was talk about the events afterwards. This would have likely been Cassandra, Dorian, Vivienne, Solas, or Cole, unless dialogue was also included for others not on the trek. Scout Harding or the Advisors perhaps?

Definitely not Cassandra. She was there to meet Ameridan. Spoke to him. The first thing I did after killing everything was visit Cassandra in Skyhold. She has nothing to say about it. Banters wise I have heard Dorian speaking of it.
Was expecting some feedback from companions from such a huge and controversial discovery - especially Cassandra. It should also have a huge impact on what kind of Divine she would become (if she becomes Divine) after learning the truth - the whole "The chant of light should spread the truth and not hide it".

I was not speaking necessarily of direct one on one chats, but banter between themselves over the past events. But I cannot recall anything specific.

I was speaking of disappointment over not having one-to-one conversations with specific companions like Cassandra - especially if she met Ameridan.

Yeeaaa...at this point, with all we know, there should really be an Inquisition war table mission. "Publish all the Chantry's blatant lies? Varric writes a series of novels revealing the truth, which is funded, published and distributed by the Inquisition!"
There's a few specific missions like that, such as Assuage Ameridan's Heirs, but nothing really solid that just puts it out there...Hey! Chantry! The Inquisition knows all that crap you swept under the rug!
I'm not sure who would be the best at disseminating that information willingly and trying to make amends once made Divine. Definitely not Vivienne. Maybe Cassandra since she seems like she wants to reveal the truth about the Seekers and Tranquility, given time. Lelianna is a spymaster, but I feel like she could also highly recognize all the harm the chantry has done and seek to rectify it. idk. Thats a whole other discussion.
High hopes for the next DLC based off JoH. Gimmie dem secrets, Origins.
