Indeed, I just had the end of the game basically ruined for me. I haven't even gotten to Redcliffe yet and I already know who/what the final boss is. I don't know if I even want to bother continuing to play now... this sucks. Would've been an epic surprise going in, I'm sure, not knowing what I now know thanks to this stupid DLC.

Are you trolling? The game's been out since November 2014. It sucks that the DLC "spoils" the villain's name or whatever, but this is too much.

I am not trolling. I just bought the game a few days ago because my PC needed several upgrades before I could even play it. Personally, yes, I think it sucks. You've played the game already and it doesn't matter to you, that's fine. I get it. But I haven't though and I find this quite irritating.

I remember being similarly upset when I accidentally read the villain's name when trying to check out a bug... but the character shows up very early in the game so said spoiler didn't actually spoil much at all. Don't worry.

It would be quite annoying for me seeing as the game early on refers only to the "Elder One" and makes an effort not to reveal who or what that is until a certain point in the story is reached.

Well, that's good to know. And at least I still don't know how or why he (the villain) is involved in any of this. So there's still some mystery left.

Don't worry too much about it. He shows up before long (less than halfway through the game).

I actually guessed who he was from the silhouette in the tutorial level (I wish they had done that differently). It's a nice reveal, but his identity alone isn't going to tell you what's going on (and there are more things yet to be revealed that you have no idea about, if you haven't been spoiled).

Downloaded and installed both DLC and guess what? I can't load a saved game without DA:I crashing to Windows.

Black Emporium is out but it's 'unavailable' for me.

Can someone tell me why or what to do? :)

I'd say Xbox One without Xbox Gold. I've got the same problem.

Games continue to sell, albeit at far fewer numbers, six months past their release.

My favorite game is Xenogears, a 1998 Squaresoft JRPG. To this day I wouldn't go around telling new fans who the final bosses are.

No, this is a legitimate complaint. If you've gone to the effort of avoiding spoilers for his long, having DLC give it away would be awful.

Nah, its a legitimate gripe.

Its one thing if a new player purposely waltzes into a spoiler-filled section of a forum and discovers it. Thats completely on them.

Its another thing if a new player discovers it in a spoiler-free section of a forum, or in game through a DLC accessible before meeting the spoiler-character in question.

It should not have happened. Its a mistake that can potentially ruin someone's experience with the game, especially if they pick up the game late. And no, picking up a game late does not excuse being spoiled of plot events;as long as its new for them they have the right to not have things spoiled for them. Only if they seek spoilers themselves, knowingly or unknowingly, is there fault on the player.

Hell, two of my closest friends are gonna have to be advised not to download BE until Skyhold. One of them just played DAO and DAII for the first time, and the other, well, she's about to start DAI but she's the one who originally got me into Dragon Age.

Neither of them will be happy having this spoiled!

I think you mean "having DLC give it away is awful".

Because it does give it away, and it is awful.

I was describing a hypothetical situation which matches this one in relevant ways.

So... did nobody else wander into the higher level parts of the Hinterlands early enough to have the villain spoiled by your own companions' comments? Because that definitely happened to me.

I got over it.

There's a bug where the game screws up the random spawns when you load a saved game (nearby spawn points can get populated with inappropriate spawns, including Venatori and red templars prior to Skyhold), and there's one or two spots where the red templars incorrectly show up early.

The former isn't specific to any region of the Hinterlands.

sorry, I've been trying to lightly skim this thread after mention of some major spoilers in the BE DLC...  I have a huge Bioware backlog to get through, and I'm kind of semi-considering waiting for all the DLC to be out first to get one massive perfect first playthrough in (I barely visit this forum as is).

So what's the advice here for not screwing the story up?  Don't download BE till Skyhold?

That or just don't open the war table operation.

You can download the DLC just fine, but don't use it until after reaching Skyhold.
