I think thats reading a bit much into it. hahaha

I think they were targeting a certain subset of gamer that is outside from the one we generally fit into with that marketing campaign.

The gamer that only plays COD and Madden, yes. Which makes no sense at all since they only play those two games and would never in a million years ever consider playing a RPG. But see, that's why PC players were giving console players **** over it; the only people who play those two games religiously do so only on the console and are usually console-only players.

Well, I'm a console player that hopes to get a more PC-oriented game like DAO was in the future. Probably won't happen, but I'll hope.

What I expect is a mix of that and what Inquisition gave us. I actually think that might be a good mix to try and reach-

Inquisition meets DAO.

What you're hoping for will likely never happen. We all hoped Inquisition would be that game.

Inquisition was its own thing. As was DAO, as was DA2. Hey, maybe the next DA will be its own thing and blow us away. Never know.

Maybe they'll reboot it and do something interesting with it. Right now, it's little more than a generic fantasy game with Bioware characters in it. I have much greater aspirations for the next Mass Effect. That IP is much stronger than Dragon Age, in that it actually has an identity and much greater room to expand. With Dragon Age, Bioware is still trying to figure out just what he hell to do with it; they're still at square one. This is why we see things constantly changing from sequel to sequel and little to no consistency whatsoever in almost every gameplay and aesthetic piece you can think of.

It's sad to see an IP like Dragon Age, which has so much potential, go to waste because of a lack of vision.

After ME3, I don't hold ME in the same esteem that it was before.

I think the next Mass Effect needs to revitalize the series much like DA had to do after DA2.

Why? Because of the ending?

Why? Because of the ending?

Wasn't just the ending. Most of it was not what it should've been, and I think the problems started with ME2 and the direction that game went. Fantastic title ME2 was, but it set ME3 on the course for failure, and then all the other stuff we shouldn't spend time talking about went down with ME3(beyond the ending), and it just...ugh.

So much was screwed up with Mass 3 that it killed my interest in my favorite franchise. The next Mass game needs to rebound HARD to make up for ME3's faults, and to convince people ME shouldn't be given up on after the ME3 ending debacle. In my case the problems go far beyond the ending, but I imagine popular opinion is, "ME3 is defined by its ending which sucked hard"

DA2's issues also went beyond its ending, but it didn't have a single moment like ME3's ending that drove people off the wall with rage. Inquisition had a potentially easier time overcoming its predecessor's reputation than the next Mass Effect game will have.

Well, it's nice to find someone else who noticed all the problems ME3 had aside from it's ending. Nevertheless, I'm excited (and allayed) that they are wiping the slate clean and starting fresh with this new Mass Effect. I would have been very disinterested if it continued Shepard's story again. DA2 wasn't a conclusion to two legendary games either; the bar wasn't that high. Inquisition just had to be competent and not completely **** up in order to be successful. Again, the bar wasn't that high.

I don't spend time expressing my distaste of ME3 anymore(obviously I did for like the year or so after it came out) but the dislike for it retroactively affected my feelings going back to Mass Effect, making any attempt to get me interested in the next one a stupidly hard sell.

But anyway, back to the Black Emporium-

For DA2, the Black Emporium was a welcome addition. Bringing it back for Inquisition is a smart move. I'd hope all Dragon Ages going forward have such a feature.

Agreed. I would welcome such a feature in in future DA titles. Sometimes characters just need that extra tweek in order to get them to look just right. It beats having to start all over again.

I scored right out of the gate in Inquisition with Alysana Lavellan but needed to tweak Alexandria Hawke in DA2.

So I can see the use, even if I may not need it every time.

I did well enough in Inquisition my first time around. But I like options and the Emporium is that option.

I only ever stick with one character a game so its important for me that I get it right.

Hence my instant hatred of ME3 when it told me I couldn't carry over the appearance of my ONE Shepard from Mass 1 and 2 into 3.

It wouldn't let you carry it over?

Yep. ME1 to ME2 was flawless, same character appearance. ME3 on the other hand was like, "we can't carry over your character's appearance because yadda yadda, please pick a default or use the custom creator"

This happened because between 2 and 3, Bioware decided to change/redo facial mapping and such things so they could have more emotions shown through faces, but the cost was that some characters appearances made in ME1 and 2 would not make it into 3.

So I was forced to play as Vanderloo instead. My character's decisions were fine, his relationships were fine, his story was fine, but it was another man living his finale.

That was one of the biggest issues I had with ME3. It killed enjoyment of the game from before the first second of cutscene/gameplay. Don't tell me I'm gonna get to carry my character through the entire series if I can't do that, and the visual appearance is of HUGE PARAMOUNT importance.

Because DA switches protagonists all the time, it doesn't run into this problem. Well Hawke came back in Inquisition and she looked different than she did in DA2, but I'm not a fan of Hawke nor invested with her like I was with Shepard so with her it didn't matter.

With Shepard I cared SO much(favorite gaming franchise at the time) and it was like they were telling me my character was dead or didn't exist.

You didn't try re-creating the ME1 face in ME3's CC? That's what I did when this hit me.

I actually had just as much trouble with ME2, where a couple of Sheps imported but looked all wrong.

Tried but nothing came remotely close enough. Then they were like, "We patched it! Try again!" Tried again and still nope. Closer, but still so far off.

Played again with an attempt at trying to look like him, but by that point my opinion of the game was decided(based on other factors on top of that opening one).

I think I'm open to my Warden looking different since its been so long since DAO's events, but in the ME universe the story was ongoing so it felt inexcusable.

I used the default male face. I could never create a character in that game that didn't look bad in some way. Plus, they never looked as detailed as the default male face. Way less detailed in fact.

I always create my own characters. Makes me feel more in tune with them.

I do too in other games that have a CC that's half way decent.

I for one can not wait for this DLC. And i may get some hate for saying this. But I picked up witcher 1 and 2 on steam for cheap last summer sale. Couldnt get into the combat at all. Dont think I put more then 10-15 hrs into both combined. So I will not be getting the 3rd game. Could honestly care less that it is coming out anyways. Same reason I never picked up either of the dark souls games.
