Why were biotics made useless in ME2?

Right off the bat, when you choose your class and such you also choose your bonus power. Again I don't believe this is a spoiler, but if it is someone tell me.

And yes, warp can be curved. In fact, every single biotic talent (minus Shockwave and Barrier) can be curved.

I don't think anything combat and mechanics related can be a spoiler at this point, as long as it doesn't mention plot points.

But anyway, that information is amazing.   XD it makes me want to finish the game and start an adept sooner!

It sounds weird, but this topic has made adept sound even more fun to me than it did before I read it.

-edit-   And the fact that warp can be curve alone makes it useful to have biotics.   Sure, you COULD pop your head out from cover and get shot up and have to hide again, or you could find a good place to cover and toss some warps around your cover.    Once their shields are down you can curve your push/pull or shockwave over their cover.   Bam, you killed something without even giving them a chance to shoot at you.

Kind of like how I use incinerate on my infiltrator around cover to de-shield people so I can snipe them.

I don't get it why people are swimming around in the air when they are pulled up by a biotic. It should've been that they can continue shooting at you while in the air, but with.. say, -60% accuracy penalty.

If the system worked like that, it wouldn't be overpowered to be able to lift enemies with armor and/or barriers up into the air.. because they'd still be resilient and able to shoot at you.

Maybe something for Mass Effect 3? Oh wait, that reminds me... we should stop complaining about this otherwise they'd just REMOVE those biotic abilities instead of IMPROVING them.

so when you start the Adept on Insanity you can have all of the bonus talents unlocked.

Wait, is that really true?  When I start as a new class later I'll have all the bonus talents?  =o  Thats incredibly awesome if it's true!

Sorry, I should clarify: If you have unlocked the bonus talents in one playthrough, then you will be able to select one to start out with in your next one. This is similar to how it worked in Mass Effect one once you used a skill 150 times or whatever it was. I do not believe this is a spoiler, so yeah.

If people don't get too annoyed at the off-topicness, can I have just a tiny bit more clarification about this?  I'm intrigued.

Lets say I beat the game as an infiltrator and then start a completely new game from importing my adept.    Would I have access to the bonus skills right off the bat, assuming I got them on my infiltrator?

Or is it just that if I did a NG+ on my infiltrator I would still have those talents unlocked?

by "bonus power" you mean a power that stands in the place of the "additional weapon training",
or another skill?

So the general consensus is play a soldier first to get a variety of ammo mods and then play the class you enjoy on the higher difficulties knowing you have countermeasures.

I fiddled around with the Coalesced.ini file and made it so that shields and armor did not affect biotic (or other) powers.

I'd be most interested in learning how.

Agh. I wish you'd just correct a few inaccuracies and address some of the concerns.

This is difficult without spoiling components of the game. So, I'll be vague and try and be informative at the same time. At some point in the course of the game, your character has the opportunity (it's fairly straightforward and 99% of people should encounter it) to acquire a 7th power.

Most of what I've seen in this post is people assuming that we want biotic powers such as pull+throw to instantly kill enemies. I would rather the powers be able to be used against armored or shielded enemies as crowd control, still do damage but not be an instant kill. I want to be able to run into a room, throw one enemy against a wall so that he is knocked down, pull another into the air so he is floating for a few seconds, and then unload my pistol into the third enemy. Now, neither of the first two enemies are dead, they are still shielded/armored/whatever, having taken only a bit of damage from the biotics, but they are out of the fight for a few seconds while I deal with the third. Currently, you have no way to take an enemy out of the fight for a time except for AI Hacking / Dominate. I'm not suggesting they make biotics do rediculous damage to shields or armor, just make them worth having.

Thanks for trying though! :D  Some of us appreciate it.   The vast majority of forum goers are rude, insensitive, and illogical.  I've watched more than a few game developers take an interest in interacting with the community through forums and then go from being nice and helpful to being insulting and snide as they start to hate their fanbase.    It's understandable if that happens, but thanks for being as nice to us (the community) as you have so far.

I cannot claim credit for this:

Search Google for: Mass Effect 2 Metronome Reddit Console Mordin
The first result should be it

Scroll down to Metronome's thread, follow steps.

ALSO: This can severely damage your game! Make sure that you know what you're doing, and BACK UP Coalesced.ini FIRST. If you don't edit it to fit the correct name_length and data_length then the game will crash on startup.

EDIT: Thanks for being involved Ms. Norman! We all appreciate the effort that you've put into this game! :wizard:

I agree with the OP.

In Hardcore or Insanity, by the time you manage to destroy an enemie's defenses there's no point in using biotics to finish him, one or two shots are more than enough to kill it.

See above, what I posted should direct you to a step by step process. Just search the file for "SHIELDSBLOCK" and change the value from True to false, then run the shown Ruby script.

Please stop sucking developer balls. It's so retarded to see most of you guys turn into pink, sweet bunnies when a developer replies and after that turn into arrogant pricks again. :D

Am I the only one that noticed singularity stops an armored enemy from moving when you use it on them?

I haven't played insanity or whatever, but it worked on vet...makes it pretty easy to just line up with a heavy pistol and head shot off their armor.

Doesn't work on Hardcore or Insanity. That's what the whole thread is about.

I agree! wtf pull doesn't work on higher level opponents! Then I realized it was people who I hadn't hurt enough. I will admit that rush has gotten me out of a lot of sticky situations. If I am dying I can rush them and slow down time and nail them with my shotgun.

Biotics can be used to destroy armour/barriers as well. I don't see why you think they are useless. Beats shooting at them continuously and losing all your shields/health,
