That analogy though. Are yous seriously comparing one-time preferential treatment to discrimination?

Exclusivity agreements ARE discrimination: A developer makes a brilliant game that looks great and then pay the developer to ONLY sell the game for your platform to give potential buyers an incentive to buy your platform. The purpose it to make a great game that everyone wants to buy for the sole purpose of withholding it from customers who chose the wrong console.

If you can't see how that might be anti-consumer (notice how you haven't actually addressed this point but simply accused me of "playing the victim"), then, well, I envy your nativity.

Exclusivity doesn't sell games.  It (theoretically) sells gaming platforms.

Bioware gains nothing from this.  Save whatever $$$ EA got from the deal at the expense of Bioware fans.

Yeah...I have a PS4 and have to wait until May to play with my toy. I'm thinking of the time a shop owner in Chinatown followed me around his shop and yelled at me not to touch anything, for NO reason other than I was the wrong ethnicity. I'm also thinking of the time I went out to a coffee shop with my husband, who was wearing his kippa, and they looked right through us. Having to wait to play Jaws of Hakkon until May....Not. The same. Thing.

LMAO. Gamers.

The DLC isn't going to be on Ps3/X360, am I understanding that right?

time to upgrade. You want them to support 360 until 2025?

The current game was already released on PS3/360. They can't decide not to support a game on a platform after releasing that game on the platform at full price with no indication it would affect future content availability.

I doubt DA4 will be released for last gen. It's too late to decide that DAI won't be; they already released it.

I was afraid something like this would happen, you know. I knew somehow my poor last gen console would fail me. I knew gaming companies would laugh at my misery and leave me out in the cold, wallowing in my own self-pity. It was like I would be playing the first Mario game when everyone else had long since moved to Super Mario.

But I decided to get myself back in control. I put in extra hours at work. I saved part of last year's tax check. I stopped buying shoes and bags. Then I did it. I moved with the times. I upgraded my xbox for the first time in many, many years.

I bought a next gen.

At full price, I might add. You don't nearly have to spend as much as I did. And at some point, though we cling to the past on this board like melted cling wrap, we are all going to have to come to terms with the fact this is going to happen more often every year until you no longer have any new games to play.

You're going to have to make a choice. Suck it up and pay for a new console or be content playing the games you have now, forever.

Yup, this pretty much explains why I bought my xbox 360 when I did. As soon as MS announced they would not be making any more games for Xbox TOC I sucked it up and bought my 360.

Why is this still a thing? The OP was wrong the dlc is coming out on old consoles so surely the tread is defunct?

Lol @ people boycotting the purchase of a DLC because they have to wait a bit.

That's so sad.

well to be honest its not out of choice.
I would of bought and played this dlc on ps4
But with the witcher3 being out that month
That's where my money will be going :)
So i will be boycotting all dlc for Dai.
Hopefully my ps4 brother/sister will follow and next time ea/bioware think about doing this, they might think again.
I bet most ps4 gamers are playing the epic bloodborne anyway :)

This is the BSN no one is boycotting  anything no matter how much they say plan too

I think for a lot of us DAI was the straw that broke the camels back. my interest for their upcoming games/projects has dwindled down to zero, and i havent had  any interest whatsoever in jaws of hakkon, or in me4 for that matter, which im not ´going to buy either, and i used to pre-order everything they made. Bws games have become boring as fvuck with tedious gameplay, idiotic and nonsensical design choices that only add pointless frustration and cringey scripts along with cringey writing. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and thrice, shame on me. I havent been on the forum for quite a while and only show up out of boredom and nostalgia, but there is no way im going to fork out a ton of cash to spend so much time being disgustingly bored in a game like i have been in several parts of DAI,  or suffer through the protagonists. many stupid lines.

"my keeper allowed me to join the inqusition"

to which the protagonist replies "your keeper allowed you to join the inquisition?"

"im a dalish elf who is proud and believe in my own gods!!" fast forward to temple of mythal where morrigan explains that the temple is mythals and yet our dalish elf responds with "who is that`? Um seriously, Mythal... who is one of the most important figures in the elven pantheon and dalish lore. then she proceeds to ask more idiotic questions" You could argue that it was an attempt at introducing new players, but it was a veeeery lazy and poor one. Having an origin style intro would have greatly helped in this regard, that way you could introduce people to the lore in a way that makes sense, but common sense has flown out of the window in bws case-

Then look at me3s idiocy.. "what should we do????" to which shep replies "the only thing we can!!!!!! we fight or we die!!!!!!!" Um.. you can fight and still die, which you very possibly will, considering the odds, the two arent mutually exclusive. Then we've got all the melodrama with the vm survivor and the cringey hospital scene...

With each new installment their characters and protagonists have a chunk of their brain-function removed, and the gameplay becomes increasingly boring on top of that.

Right so you are not interested in Bioware's games or dlc.  That's why you are commenting on a dlc thread on a Bioware forum. Your interest might be in leaving negative responses but it's obviously still there.

Feeling a lot of DAI ended up on the cutting room floor because they couldn't get it to work on the old systems, so yeah thanks for that Bioware those of us on PC's & new systems are grateful for that. For the owners of old systems time for a upgrade?

What he said like I said in my earlier post when comes to BW most of us on the BSN will buy now matter how angry we get with Bioware Bioware are like someone with the X-factor gene there are not many who can do what they can do and they bloody well know it

For me, I will buy this DLC because I'm already invested in the Dragon Age series, however I was considering trying the new ME game when it comes out but have decided not to due to this. If I'm not valued as much as other customers, I'm not interested in spending more money on another game. So I'm not boycotting, but this did affect my purchasing decisions in a negative way.

That's so sad.

It's not sad, since voting with your wallet is the only real way to make yourself heard I understand why they're doing it (even if I do not share their concern over timed DLC).

My only real concern with a possible boycott is that it muddles the message.

I didn't buy DA2 And ME3 DLC because I had problem with the games. not buying the DLC is the only way to vote with your wallet when you already own the games. I won't buy DAI DLC for the same reasons, I simply do not like the game enough to care about the DLCs.

Unfortunately, since this happened, my "vote" will now probably be interpreted as "boycotted the DLC policy" rather than "didn't like the game enough to buy DLC". It's a lot easier to blame the timed DLC than to examine the game and wonder what could be done to make the game better.

I think for a lot of us DAI was the straw that broke the camels back.

From what I observed, DA2 broke a lot of camels' backs, then BioWare saw that some of the camels survived, then circled round and dropped Inquisition on them as mop-up.

The more resilient camels are now living in some kind of post-apocalyptic wasteland, waiting for DA4 to bring the final cataclysm.

Yeah, but who's really surprised there? Heck, its value was instantly diminished by the lack of the entire trilogy with no hope of that ever being rectified, especially since the console doesn't have the capacity to store it all.
