They kinda did that though, didn't they? The Collector Ship at the beginning of ME2 targeted the Normandy specifically and basically killed Shep, but they probably hadn't expected Shep coming back to life.

Also Arrival DLC? They indoctrinated Kenson to lure Shepard into the trap and get rid of him/her in that way.

I am with StealthGamer92 on this, I think Shep made humans interesting enough for them to further study them.

I try not to think too much about Arrival, because if they were trying to get rid of Shepard, they could have easily done so once Shepard was taken down, which is unavoidable.

True. A little mistake on their end for not doing so

Ah I see unfortunately you would be right "sigh" even though I myself am infact male I despise male's as a species that's probably why I refuse to play a game if I'm stuck being male add to that the fact I identify as gender neutral and my genders probably a resnable chunk of my extreme depreshion and anxiety. It's just funny because it's not men as individuals that I hate infact I've had several male friends but yet I find the Males as a species to be in my eyes atleast an abomination I'm sorry if this offends for that is not my intention it's just who I am and wanted to answer your query in hindsight I probably shouldn't post this but I felt you deserved an explanation.

Well, thank you for explaining.

I brought it up because I myself have strong feelings about misandrist sentiments being more accepted in the same circles that condemn misogyny. I mean, turn around what you said and switch the genders and I'm sure we would have gotten at least a page and a half of people condemning you for it.

I don't think either gender is particularly more abominable, and if women appear less so it's because they've been idealized and given less opportunity to demonstrate it throughout history.

Ah yes I definitely see were your coming from and I admit that I'm a hipocrite so I'm guilty when it comes to exactly what you said. But I must admit it was refreshing to discuss this in such a civilised way thank you for that.

Guess the Reapers watched too many 007 movies while trying to "study" us and thought "if we tried this on Shepard they wouldn't escape and thwart our plan with seconds to spare." :P

All of the main races are no more or less advanced I.e in balance due to the Reaper honey pot. No one is therefore "special". We all have our own specialities it just so happens that ours is more useful to their purposes:

Turians - military/organisation/strategy - aka civ domination victory: Turian husks can't think
Asari - diplomacy/cultural victory: Asari husks can't talk
Salarians - scientific/technological victory: ditto

Humans - jacks of all trades, master of non - our biggest strength is our Achilles heel. Having the highest overall genetic diversity spreads us more evenly across the board making us painfully mediocre at everything except for producing more reapers, yay us!

Other races are just hybrid races like us but but to varying extremes on each of these spectrums.

And thats the problem. The writers gave other races clear and define strengths and weaknesses but with humans they gave strenghts, with vague weaknesses.

Again, Humans in ME universe = Mary Sue

Humans are the sentinels of the Mass Effect species wouldn't you agree? I wouldn't call sentinel a Mary sue class; it's no better or worse than the others - it combines seemingly disparate halfway decent abilities together to create a synergy greater than the sum of it's parts that can stand toe to toe with the traditional adept, engineer and soldier classes.

Sure you could argue that sentinel has the potential to become 'Mary Sue' but there is an upper limit on the synergy which can be achieved with fundamentally weaker powers which don't gell. The reality is they will always lack the finely honed inherent capability of the adept or engineer to truly excel in either discipline long enough to gain a significant advantage.

Sure if a sentinel also had 3 strait combat abillities unlimited grenades no weight limit and leveled up with half the xp of other classes. Humans in ME grew to fast and were treated better faster because we were "more aggresive(said in ME1)" which is the opposite of how things work in reallity. I know it's a game but that's exactly why it's so much more obvious it uses "humans are special" bs. If they're gonna put that in at leasr be more subtle with it and it wouldn't be as big of an issue.

I do support a human only protagonist for story purpose and better characterization. I don't support a story centered around humanity. That's pretty much it for me.
